Personally, we did not spend much time in this area when visiting in 2010. Mostly because all of the rides are WET ones and getting wet was just not something we wanted to do. I am hoping that we can breeze through here in December, too! If you are a reader of the Sunday funnies, you will love the theming of this “island…” you feel like you are in the middle of one the cartoon panels! Most kids probably do not even know who Blondie, Betty Bop, and Popeye are however!

Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls

Facts: Log Flume Ride, 6 minutes, 5 passenger log, EXPRESS PASS, single rider line…if you don’t want to take the ride then you can use the water blasters (25 cents) to spray the riders as they pass below you

Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge Rat Barges

islandspopeyeboatandraft.jpg

Facts: Raft Ride, 5 minutes…BE PREPARED TO GET SOAKED, the heavier the raft the faster the ride (12 person raft), EXPRESS PASS, Rafts have plastic covered bins in the center…take off your shoes & socks and use the bin!

People Dryers...

islandspeopledrier.jpg

Should you do decided to get wet, they have people dryers?! Here is a picture of my friend Pam (and Assistant prinicpal) clowning around in one. We thought this was so funny, we even paid the money to try it out when though we were not wet.

Me Ship, the Olive

Facts: interactive play area for the kids, great photo area at the top for adults wishing to take great pictures of Dragon Challenge in WWofHP, Seuss Landing, and Hulk Coaster, 4 free water cannons to aim at riders on Bilge Rat Barges

The rest of Toon Lagoon…

Character Meet & Greets: Popeye, Olive Oyl, Beetle Bailey, Woody Woodpecker

Photo Ops: Lots of cut-outs that put you in the comic strip…look for the trick photo spot involving Marmaduke outside of Blondies restaurant

Restaurants: I have not eaten at any of them…but Blondie’s looks good (overstuffed sandwiches), Wimpys (hamburgers) and Cathy’s Ice Cream (Ben & Jerry’s).

I am loving your PTR. Love the treasure hunt idea. It is so creative. Can't wait to read how it went. Love the movie night idea. I can't wait to do this with DD when she gets older.

Funny...I find myself checking into my PTR now a lot more since I started this movie trivia quiz! Thanks Ann and Susan for making me have even more reasons to visit the DIS...you were my inspiration!
You're quite welcome! Ironically, though, I haven't had time to check in for a few days and I'm behind on my trivia. I will do my best to catch up this week so y'all can earn more points! :thumbsup2

I just love the Hidden Magic book. I am not surprised it's not in Ab's bin. I loaned mine out last year and I need to get it back before the trip, so I can study. :rotfl:

I love those bags you found. So inexpensive and just perfect for the occasion! I love the idea of bags instead of stockings. Your reveal is going to be SOOO cool!

Those reveal shirts sound great. I'm not sure about what color you should choose. Since they're Christmas themed, maybe go with red and green like you mentioned.

Awesome that your baby tied his shoe!

We really enjoyed the wet rides at IOA last year when we went in September. We strategically planned for them at the end of our first day, so we could head directly back to our hotel and change before dinner.

Hmmmm...I wonder where you'll eat at CityWalk? We are shooting for Margaritaville.

Answer to yesterday was: Mr. Toad, and the movie was The Adventures of Icabod and Mr. Toad.

Wednesday's Question:

What Disney chracter does not speak, has blue eyes, and doesn't have a beard?

Bonus Points for movie and the names of his pals!

No, not Margaritaville...I have that planned for the night that we do Discovery Cove. Their nachos are awesome...I am dying for a good Italian Margarita!!! Plus, love the music they play in there...what is the name of the artist? :rotfl:

The place I have in mind just opened this summer and is getting great reviews...right up DH Texas state of mind! Think Sam Elliott commerical!

Welcome...always glad to have new people popping in! Sometimes I am lonely in here!

My treasure hunt has to change from a Christmas morning hunt to a 24 day advent countdown hunt. We are leaving WAY EARLY CHRISTMAS MORNING! Look for it starting December 1st...although I probably will preview it November 30th!

I think the kids are enjoying the movie nights...I do not do them up nearly as some people on the thread that I get my inspiration from.

I notice you are going on a Disney cruise...that is my next trip I want to do...if we can ever afford this one! :rotfl:

I sure hope that I don't look like this bulldog (by the way bulldogs are my school's mascot) by the end of the day...

I am working with my staff today with the lesson planning program today! Sure hope it goes better than a couple of weeks ago!

I went on one last year. Those are old countdowns that I keep forgetting to delete. You will def. love the cruise when you do one. It is amazing. I have a hard time not doing the cruise when I am in Disney World. It is such a great trip.

DH is so picky about t-shirts...he has to have pocketed ones! GRRRR...

I actually made the kids reveal t-shirt today on zazzle.com. I had no luck on the DISigns board for help...so I played around with my picture software and FINALLY got the picture not to distort when I made it bigger on zazzle. I AM SO EXCITED....when I get them I am going to have a teacher at my school tie dye them...she has a side business doing this and I do not want to mess up these shirts. I can't decide on the color...they say 12 days of Christmas on them so I was thinking of red and green...but would the kids ever wear them again if I did those colors...then I thought red for Goo and Ab, and Green for Bo...or should I just do blues which will be perfect in MK pictures.
Any suggestions?

I did not get dh and I shirt. I would wear it, but dh would not so I opted neither of us. I did get the kids HP shirts and me one...I guess I will just find him a plain black tee with a pocket. :rotfl:

I like the plain black tee with a pocket... :rotfl: As for the kids shirts... Go with solid colors "just in case" the tie dye doesn't quite come out what you had pictured in your mind. Do blue and throw some holiday hats on their heads!!!

Guess who tied his shoe for the first time today, by himself!

This is so cute! :woohoo::banana:

One of the teams//towns I played against in high school were the BEET DIGGERS...that is just about as bad!:rotfl:

Amy inspired me to get some character shirts for Ab...we are both gonna see if we can get our teenage daughters to wear them in the park. :rotfl2: Really...trying to see if they will wear them when they get home.

I found this one for Ab on ebay last night when I could not sleep. She loved the Arisocats when she was little....gotta love Marie...EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE A CAT!

I am still looking for a Bianca from the Rescurers in the right color and the perfect Tink shirt...all her favorites when she was little.

For Boo I am looking for a Captain Hook.

Already bought Goo lots of Lightning Shirts.

Getting a shirt for Universal was easy...they all love Harry!

Discovery Cove is now paid for in full!!!

Did I tell you I was working with an awesome travel agent from Pixie Vacations for the Universal Part of my trip :worship:...if you need someone let me recommend her!

She has been searching ways to save me $$$ at Discovery Cove...$300 a ticket per person for 1 day is REALLY STEEP. But, it is something my sister and her family has done and it was their favorite of the whole trip...everyone says that does it...a must do! Plus the fact Ab loves dolphins. Finally, after exploring options for the last 8 months for me...she found a way to save nearly $400. :woohoo: If you are interested I will share the secret in a PM...now today Discovery is off my Universal package and paid in full!

What is paid for:
1. BWV portion of our stay (Dev. 30-Jan.5)
2. Arrival Airfare
3. Discovery Cove
4. New clothes-shirts for the kids
5. Most of the advent countdown reveal gifts

What is left to pay for:
1. Balance on Universal
2. Disney Tickets
3. Departing Ticket (with possibly an room only stay at POP)
4. Ground Transportation
5. Disney Dining Plan (if we stay the additional day)
6. A few odds and ends for the Advent Countdown and a few new clothes for dh and me
