We're going to WDW Oct 15-24, coming in really late on the 15th and have offsite hotel for that night (all few hours of it). I've been checking rental car rates. Besides the first night we'll be staying at Pop Century the whole time.

I'm thinking about renting National-MCO on Fri night and returning it at the WDWcar care center on Sat. That will get us from airport to hotel to grocery shopping to pop century. Then the 23rd renting from Alamo-WDWCar care center and returning that one on the sunday at MCO when we fly out.

Has anyone done this? Do you have any warnings or tips for us?

I would appreciate it!! I don't want to get us in transportation trouble to save some money, but also don't want to rent a car that's going to sit in the lot.

we do it! it works great for us (esp since we have to visit relatives the first day of our vacation)... but rather than use the car care center, we've had great experiences using the car rental desks at the dolphin hotel... both national and alamo operate from there... be sure to check mousesavers.com for coupons/codes/etc...

ENJOY!

Thanks so much! That's TERRIFIC to know! I knew about the car care center but not the dolphin. That should work out easy-peasy.

I'm doing this in December. National seemed to have the better rates using the discount codes.

I'm picking up at MCO and going to Universal my arrival day, then going to Pop Century.

The next morning I'm driving my car over to the Dolphin, and parking it in self-park, then going to MGM for early entry, then will turn the car in about 11am and have lunch somewhere at one of the Epcot resorts.

The day before my departure, I'll go to Epcot, then at 4pm, I'll wander over to the Dolphin and do the paperwork on the rental car, then go to the business center and get my boarding pass, then have dinner at one of the Epcot resorts, then go back to Epcot for Illuminations. After Illuminations, I'll get the car and drive back to my resort. The next day, I'll go to IOA for the day, then back to the airport.

So if you plan your park days to be at Epcot or MGM, then dropping off/picking up at the Dolphin is painless.

I've considered doing this for our trip in Dec. The first night we could rent at MCO and drop off at the Dolphin the next day because we are going to Epcot. The last day we are checking out of the Pop and going to the Marriott near the airport (early morning flight out). How do we get from the Pop to the Dolphin to rent a car?

The Dolphin desk hours are from 9am to 4pm. I would just schedule the pickup sometime during the day less than 24 hours before your flight and just use Disney transportation to get to the Studios, then take a boat or walk over to the Dolphin.

I see your from the Shoals. I'm from Huntsville, and my son is going to UNA in Florence!!

Go Lions!!
