The pictures on Aulani's website show a pull out couch and pull out chair in the living room. I have also seen people mention a pull down small murphy under the TV. Has the pull out chair been replaced by the small murphy?

The small murphy under the TV is in 1BR (and therefore 2BR lock-offs).

The dedicated 2BR has the chair.

It's also worth noting that Aulani has different room configurations based on whether you have an angled balcony or a straight balcony. The same general furniture will be there, but it might be arranged differently.

Wish the 1 bedrooms had the chair as well as under the tv setup is hard to see the tv at night.

If you book a two bedroom dedicated you will also get a powder room that the lock offs don’t have.

I booked with a $$$ reservation through Aulani. Would that be dedicated or would they just decide where to put you.

Did you look at the boards sponsor DVC Rental Store or the rent/trade section of this board?

You may be able to save some $$ that way.

Aulani cash reservations can be cancelled 5 days or more from your trip without penalty.

Yes I did. For some reason they did not have the 2BR for the entire stay. David's did but even though I am going to be staying in a GV at OKW three weeks from today booked through Davids, I decided against booking there due to the cancelation policies. I am fine with them for DW but not for Aulani. I would have booked through DVC if they would have had my dates.

I didn’t realize straight balcony was even an option but I just found a YouTube video with one after reading this.

Are all the Standard View rooms straight balcony? Are there any significant cons to either layout? They didn’t look terribly dissimilar in the room tours in terms of space.

No major difference, they just affect where you push the ottoman if you open the pull-out. We like the split balcony so Grandma and Grandpa have a private space if they travel with us. I think all the standard view rooms are straight balcony.
