We've been to WDW many times and stayed onsite and offsite in rental homes. We're a family of 5 and I want to try an offsite condo. I'm confused at the many choices and timeshares! We are not interested in purchasing but it looks like they are open to public reservations. Is this without sitting through sales pitches? We definitely do not want to do that.

Can you guys help me find the best fit? We have 3 children, ages 5, 7 and 11. We want to be convenient to Disney and not in a place so big that a walk to the pool takes 15 minutes. Is room service an option at these locations? At a minimum, we need restaurant options on site. We spend a lot of time in the pool and the bigger the slide, the better. Towel, trash service daily would be optimal as well. If you have any input, I would appreciate it!

Personally, I prefer to rent direct. The cost savings are usually significant. I usually use sites like:

www.vrbo.com (would be a good one for a condo/townhome)
or for rental homes which often cost the same

Now, if you do your research many people get great deals on condo's using SkyAuction. I have not used them. However, w/ a simple search on this board you'll get a lot of info on them.

The choices can be overwhelming. However you can quickly narrow it down by sorting the choices by the # of bed and baths you'd need. Then pick 1 or 2 amenities that would be important to you and look for rentals w/ those. Things like private pool, community pool, hottub/spa, game room, ect.....

Send out a few inquiries and I think you'll be suprised at how affordable of an option renting a condo/townhome/pool home really is.

We have rented homes and condos in Emerald Island, which is right outside of Disney, and had great experiences. If you rent a condo there you may have a long walk to the pool.

I suggest you take a look at Cypress Point Resort or Grand Villas. It is right outside of DTD. They offer 1, 2 and 3 bedroom condos that are very nice. All of the roome are close to pools. They have sand volleyball courts, a miniture golf course and a pool with a volcano. Very nice. :thumbsup2 Hotelkingdom.com offers great rates for them. They will ask you at checkin if you are interested in a tour to purchase. We always say no and are never hassled after that.

A lot of the timeshare rental resorts will have restaurants on-sites, but just the resort communities (Windsor Hills, Windsor Palms, etc.) won't. I can speak for Windsor Hills as we've stayed there - the pool is great with a fun slide. There is daily trash pick-up, but you are responsible for getting the trash daily to the bench just outside your condo door. There is no towel service and there may be no paper/soap products when you arrive. In this community, the three bedroom rents are as inexpensive as the two bedroom.

I use skyauction and I have gotten great deal. but I live within a day's drive and can take advantage of their last minute deals.

they generally have but not always some great deals if you can travel at last minute - generally 10 days or less before your arrival.

you could be taken a chance so may sure you have a back up reservations if your week doesn't show up.

Now Celebration is off your list because it doesn't have a restuarant. Sheraton Vistana can be - this is a big resort - but it has multiple swimming pools - so you are never far from one.

Orange Lake definitely off - not enough swimming pools.

remember to bid at the last minute on skyauction. and have a good time!!!
