Hi all,

Even though we are just back from our first trip as DVC members (details are coming), I need to start making ressies for our next one. My question is this..for a week we will be in a two bedroom. I will then be making a separate reservation for three nights for a one bedroom. Can we request or do something so we won't have to move? Is that even possible? I know I'd have to still check-in/out, but can it be done without moving?

If yes, we'd probably stay at one resort the whole time...if we have to move anyway, we may choose to do something else.

Thanks so much!

Ty

I believe it is possible you will have to move. Make sure you do not get a dedicated two bedroom because that would guarantee you move, get a lock off two bedroom.

We've done this. Once we were able to stay and the otehr time we had to move. Depends on many factors I guess. I won't do it again though. It's a pain.

We've done this several times. If you are booking at a resort that has categories (view/location) such as the Boardwalk, Animal Kingdom or Old Key West, then make sure you book the same category for both reservations. Also make sure you have a lock-off 2BR (made up of a studio and a 1BR witha connecting door) reserved, rather than a dedicated 2BR (cannot be split). Then, 3-4 days before you are due to check in give the resort a call. Ask to speak to the room assigner and let him/her know of your situation. If possible they will accommodate you and you will just have to shut off the studio portion for your 1BR nights.

Good luck!

If you are booking your cash nights through CRO then you will most likely need to move. At the least, you will need to check out and then check back in on that particular day. As the others have said, you need to pay attention to category and view of villa when booking as well. Good luck!

We did this once a few years ago. We had a 2 BDR lock-off at OKW. We were lucky that we were not moved to a different/new unit but we did have to check-out and check-in again.

Thanks Denise - it would definitely be a lockoff...but good to remember.

That's what I'm worried about. If we have to pack up and move, we might as well move resorts.

Thanks - we will be at ALK in Jambo (I hope) so the lock-off should not be a problem. Also, thanks for the heads up about calling a few days before...I did not even think of that.

Hoping to do all points to save some $$$. We were thinking about doing cash at a different resort for the end of the trip, but really decided this trip we wanted to stay put at one resort for the whole next trip. Problem is we need a two bedroom for part.

Good to know it can work sometimes - I'll have to have DH seriously think about if he wants to chance it or not.

Thanks everyone...I may just cross my fingers and hope for the best.

We are going from a 1-bed to a studio back to a 1-bed (saving those point for a second trip). Since we knew we would have to move we took it as an opportunity to check out a few resorts. We have not stayed in any yet so I cannot wait.

We did the two resort thing this trip and DH declared he wants to stay in one resort instead of switching next time. He claimed it was because he lost "resort" time. I said he lost time because he didn't get up and out to the parks until Noon everyday!
