We are planning to stay at Pop next May. We have 2A & 2C in our family. DSil has 2A & 3C. We were told they would have to get an extra room since they have 5 people. How are they supposed to do that? Do they expect kids to sleep in their own room? How does this work? Thanks for any help.

Kids 3 and under don't count for number in the room. We stayed 5 in CBR with not problem since Ash was 2.

If the kids are all over 3 you can get 2 connecting rooms and parents in one and kids in other. Wouuld be nice for bathrooms, space ect. I can't imagine how small Pop is with 5 in since CBR was small with all the luuggage for us and trying to walk in the room.

There are twin 11 yr boys and my nephew will be 6.
I will check out the All Star suites. Didn't know they had them. See, this is why I love you guys. Doesn't matter what you ask, someone always knows the answer!! :grouphug:

the family suites also come with a kitchnette which would be nice you could order groceries and save a bit of money on food that way too. (Everything is over priced at the resort) I think the family suite would be cheaper than having to book two rooms.

www.wegoshop.com -they will deliver to your resort.

Obivously we are going to go where we fit and where it is cheaper. But, are they planning on doing family suites in any of the other All stars resorts? Don't get me wrong, I am sure the music resort is cool and we will have fun no matter where we stay, but I know the 5 kids would rather stay at "The Toy Story One" or "The Sports One" as they like to call them.

My suggestion would be to rent a home near Disney. It would accomodate everyone (both families) for around $100 a night with a pool and hottub.

Is one of your kids under 3? I so, you could put one of the older ones in your room since one of yours in under 3.

Otherwise, another option is moving to a moderate. Port Orleans Riverside has some rooms that sleep 5. They have a trundle bed for the extra person. 5 person families are a problem at disney. That 5th person ends up costing quite a bit. We are a family of 5 but my little one doesn't count yet (she's 18 months), but I'm dreading her turning 3 already, lol!

Unfortunately all of the value resorts have a maximum of 4, 5 if one of the children is 2 or under.

They could also move up to the moderate level, POR has rooms with a trundle bed that sleep 5. It would be cheaper than the new All Star Suites that pps have mentioned. Honestly I think the moderate resorts are a great value, not much more than the value resorts but nicer pools and IMHO lots more to do. Especially if a code or other discount comes out prior to May you may end up paying the same for a moderate with a code then you would rack rate for the values.

Anyway... OT a bit but I also wanted to mention that we have traveled with both of DH's brothers at one time or another as well as my sis and their families. Only once have we stayed at the same resort. At first I didn't think I would like it but I found that separation to be a good thing. We had a blast when we were together and spent lots of time at the parks and for meals but still had some family time to ourselves. IMHO it was the best of both worlds.

I guess I am trying to say if they have to move to a moderate its OK if you don't want to. You can still have plenty of together time without overkill.

Have fun plannning!!

Ok - here is what I found at allears:

based on May 06, all stars room $99.00
all stars suite $209.00
POR with trundle $155.00

Here is the link to POR:
http://allearsnet.com/acc/faq_dxl.htm
and here are the all star suites:
http://allearsnet.com/acc/faq_asm.htm

Just to clarify I am helping an acquaintance plan a first time trip in the fall and her dd is only 3. Since my dd's are 9 and 11 I have been peeking at allears (love that site almost as much as the dis).

Since I was there I figured I would check out the rates for you - hope you don't mind.

Just a friendly fyi that posting messages in all capital letters is considered yelling. Since you do this in about half your posts and you don't seem to be yelling at anyone I thought you might appreciate the heads up.

tjmw2727 - I am glad you checked that out for me. I never thought we could afford a moderate resort. Didn't even check into them to be honest. I will look into that website. Can you tell me what POR is? Everyone uses all these abbreviations, which I understand not wanting to spell everything out all the time. But then you get people like me who don't know what you all are talking about. Sorry, I don't mean to be stupid.
Also, we stayed offsite last May when we went with my family and we did have a great time. This time we would like to fly and don't want to have to rent a car and we would really like to try the dining plan. Most people I have read comments from say they wouldn't go any other way!
pwely36 - just thought I would tell you, someone had to tell me that about not typing in caps too! The software I used at work had to be done in caps and I just typed emails and stuff in caps cause I had trouble remembering to put the caps back on to go back to work!

i figured out what POR stands for. (duh!) Is this the best choice of the moderates? especially where kids are involved.
I think I need to make a cheat sheet to keep at my computer with all the abbreviations I figure out. Then I will be able to understand better! :teeth:
Thanks for everyone for all your help!

So sorry about the abbreviations - I don't even realize I do it anymore. I am pretty sure there is a list of the acronymns somewhere, I will see if I can find it.

As for moderates, honestly Port Orleans Riverside is my 2nd favorite but its the only one that has a traditional room that sleeps 5 so that's why I mentioned it. Its a great choice with lots of things to do and a nice pool area with a waterslide. In addition to bus transportation to all the parks they have a boat to take you to downtown disney.

Check out the links as well as the information section here on the Dis for more information on the resorts. You will find more information than you think you need! If you still have questions post away - here and on the resorts forum.

OH!!! Thank you so much! Now I don't have to guess what people are talking about. I never looked for a list cause I just figured everyone knew them from being on here so long. I am so very thankful! :thanks:

My vote is for PO with the trundle. The rooms are a bit bigger too, if I remember right. It's a great resort and we love having the river boat to ride to Downtown Disney!

I know that Pop Century is opening some family suites as well but not sure how soon??
