2 Adults 2 Kids taking only carryons! What am I missing?

I am encouraged to hear others doing this as well - we will have 4 carry-ons (2 rolling duffels & 2 rolling backpacks since our original carry-ons were .5" too big) for the 4 of us. We will also have a softsided cooler with our snacks/breakfasts in it, my purse, and the kids pin bag. We are also bringing a small roll up bag to bring back souvenirs in. That is 1 carryon and 1 personal item per person. This is PLENTY of room for us and I am so excited that we won't have to pay the baggage fee, worry about lost luggage, or wait to retrieve our luggage from baggage claim. We are travelling with only trial size toiletries.

A little off-topic but do you think if ds makes a lightsaber they will allow it on the plane?

As long as you don't make the rest of us wait while you try to get your heavy carryon into a compartment, or need to get stuff out of it while in flight, or have so much stuff tucked under the seat in front of you that it comes out into the space for that person's feet!

What's going to happen when everyone's carryon won't fit in the overhead compartments because everyone is bringing large bags on board? Bags that just meet the requirements - if everyone has one, they won't all fit, will they?

In that unlikely even, the attendants will gate check for you.

I always have found enough space for our small rolling bags, and I usually travel by myself with my kids.

I find it easy to just each pull our own little rolling bag. I absolutely dislike the WAITING for the checked bags to come off the plane also.

I think even with these extra bag fees on many airlines, most people are going to travel the manner in which they are comfortable. People don't easily change their ways. If you always pack a lot, you probably will still do so. If you like to bring a small bag, ditto. I used to bring way too much in a big suitcase, and I never needed so much of it. Now I like to keep my small bag with me, as I also worry about them losing it!

Can I ask why you are doing that? Cameras don't take up very much room and you will miss all kind of great photo ops at the hotel, on the plane, at meals. I would definately suggest bringing a camera. Photopass is great for family photos but doesn't work so well for those snap shot moments

Also, someone mentioned washing clothes and hanging them if need be. This will not work in Disney in August....you could hang them outside for DAYS and they won't dry because of the humidity. If you plan to wash things...bring quarters to at least dry them.

Personally, we pack at least two outfits a day per person due to the heat. I do not do laundry on vacation though ;)

You really should bring a small camera. Photopass is not everywhere you may want a camera. Even if it just a small disposable for the pool.
