2-2 bedrooms or Grand Villa?

Has anyone chosen 2-2 bedrooms rather than a Grand Villa in order to get an extra bathroom? Trying to plan a family getaway for 5 couples + 2 singles. 3-2 bedrooms would e even better, I think, but we would blow too many points. Also, how hard would it be to get 2-2 bedrooms at OKW 7 months out for 2nd week in October?

2 2 BRs would give you 4 bathrooms and the grand villa has 4 bathrooms. There is one off the hallway that has a shower, sink and toilet but no tub for those who sleep in the living room. The bigger question is whether you have couples who will share a bedroom.
The 2 2 BRs would give you 4 bedrooms and 2 living room sleeping spaces, for a total of 16 people. You would have 3 bedrooms and the living room with a total of 1 king size bed, 2 queen beds, 2 double beds and the pull out sofa in the living room at OKW GV in a GV. In the 2 2BR units you would have the extra jacuzzi also.

Good luck with your decision -

2 2bedrooms would not be more bathrooms. You are possibly forgetting the extra bathroom off the living room in the GV. It really depends on how much togetherness you want. We have had a blast with 12 people in a GV! It was so much fun to have all the different age groups together. We are doing it again next October. I would let that make your decision rather than bathrooms, since they would be equal except for the extra Jacuzzi.

That's too many people for a GV. You will have people sharing bedrooms, sleeping in the living room, just way too crowded. Three two bedrooms or two GVs would be the minimum I would consider for a group that size.

Good suggestions. We've never stayed in a GV so I thought the "extra" bath was only stool and sink. I also wondered about this scenario to save points but don't know whether MS can do it or not:
Get 3-2 bedrooms lock-offs. Ask to use the studio-only part for the Sat. night we arrive and the Friday night before we leave. For the other 5 nights we would have 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. Anyone ever ask MS to do this?

P.S. to castleri
Just noticed your countdown. Have a SUPER time! I'm jealous!

Wouldn't it be more points-efficient to get the two 2BRs? Or since you need something along the lines of three of them, you might sqeeze into two 2BRs and a studio. You thoughts about getting the studio of one of the lockoffs the first and last nites might be do-able, but remember it is much easier to downsize your unit than upsize; you might just have to move after the first nite in studio when upsizing. Still, it sounds like a blast. Have a great time.

Are you using the Magical Gatherings resources at all, or have you found that to be superfluous?

Didn't know that they did that for DVC bookings. Or do you mean just for PS ressies, tickets, etc?

We are taking 12 people with us in 17 more days. We booked 2-2 bdrs and a studio for our group. We saved points at the BWV and everyone should get some kind of privacy on a nightly basis. We have 5 couples, a 3 yo and an 18month old.

MS can't guarantee that you'd be in the same room the whole time with that request. You might have to change rooms from the 1st nite studio-to the 2BR, but would probably be fine with the last night studio without a room change. We've done that before and have the request made for next month, but no guarantees from MS.

Enjoy!

Your plan may work for us, too. We are going to do some number crunching on Christmas and see what might be our best option. Then it will be a matter of what is available at BWV (our home resort) or wait til 7 month for another resort. Thanks for input.

Glad to know that it is at least a possibility. Maybe it's not worth the hassle, but I sure hate to borrow from our 2005 allocation if I can help it. An OKW Grand Villa is much cheaper, but doubt that I could ever get one + a 2- bedroom at 7 months.
