***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

Awe thank you, but trust me I am in my early 40s. Because of all the medical issues M had this year, I did develop some gray hair. Thank goodness I get it dyed, but I kind of freaked and cried when I saw those buggers.
Sorry you're going through medical issues with your family. I was first diagnosed with my lung disease (lifetime non-smoker) at 39.... So I know how hard it is! Yay for Disney trips to take your mind off everything!

Congrats on getting those FP today @BDFmom!! :thumbsup2 And I hope you got what you were wishing for @Maryemcd!! :-)

Those ears are beyond adorable @Mal6586!! DS14 will never in a million years wear anything like that, but I just might order some for DD and me. ::yes::

I have dining plan question #493. :faint: For those of you on the dining plan who also have several meals you are paying for OOP...

How are you going about determining which ones you will actually pay OOP? Some are obvious, like character meals. ;) I know there are calculators available that will determine this for you based on averages. Are you calling that close enough? Or are you taking the time to take your best guess at what your party will actually order and basing it on more specific/personalized calculations? Or is there some other awesome way you are going about figuring it out?

:flower1: THANKS for any input!! :flower1:

I am sooooooooooo glad you asked this question! This is exactly what I have been trying to figure out for the last couple of days!

We have DDP for 9 nights.. Our first night is a RO. That night will be OOP.

We have 12 TS booked -need 13 credits
I think i'm going to do OOP for these -
1. CRT 3 people $226.08 (included tax&tip)
2 WCC Breakfast - DS skillet/shake, DD sticky bun/juice, me yogurt with fruit,
$70
3. Tokyo snack $80 - DS sushi, DD and myself miso soup and tea.
I'm actually budgeting $350 for those meals, $100 for 'extra' (drinks, appetizers, snacks), $300 for tips. My Total OOP food budget $800 ... For arrival night I have $150 in landry gift cards for T-Rex.....

Hope my logic looks ok

Excellent--thanks!! :worship:

I'm in the same boat, trying to figure out the best way to maximize my credits vs. OOP. I need to really sit down and figure out my final ADR's and all that.

What meal plan are you on? How many table service credits do you have to work with? I'd pay for the BOG Dinner and H&V dinner for sure on meal plan. Some of the character breakfasts might be more expensive than the non-character meals so those might be good candidates for meal plan. The Wolfgang puck you should use quick service credits.

OMG! The scariest thing just happened on the phone with a cast member... I was calling to cancel DS's 1st haircut appointment and the lady almost cancelled the WHOLE ENTIRE TRIP!!!! Thank goodness I said "wait you're just cancelling the haircut, right?" She laughed and goes "oh, no I was about the hit the button to cancel the whole trip". OMG I'm in panic mode right now.

I sincerely hope she was only kidding! :scared1::scared1:

@Talby If you are a Cotco member You can get discounted McCormick & Schmick's gift cards. $100 in cards for $80. You can use them at T-rex.

They can also be used at Yak and Yeti, Rainforest cafe or Bubba Gump (at Universal).. any landry restaurant.

I have no clue if she was kidding. She sounded old and unsure. She put me on hold for a few mins and came back on the line to tell me she wasn't sure who to transfer me to. I told her the call was making me nervous and I hung up. I checked MDE and everything is still there and I called back to speak with someone else. It's all still there thank goodness.

You may have gotten Maggie. She's lovingly referred to on the Rumors of Light thread about an older CM who just had no idea about ROL and confused many who called.

I wrote OOP next to the TS I would pay OOP for, but I'm not sure about how many nights you have. Have you looked into the Landry's Select club since you're eating at 2 of their restaurants? Also, do you have any birthdays in the near future or want to fudge a birthday to get their birthday gift while you're there (certainly not promoting this, but making you aware that many do and is a possibility)?

Booya! That's awesome! 90 min Zumba class, that's sweet! I only have 60 min classes at my gym. I'm excited to get to my Saturday morning Zumba class though, since it's my favorite, and I've had to miss it the past couple weeks  And after work today will be a run. Right now though, I'm trying to determine which part of my body is most sore from lifting last night! Currently, it's a close race between my quads and my hamstrings. Those darn squats! :rotfl:

Yesss, loving the #OL10LB tags, lol. Awesome goal! You got this! I had been .6 lbs into a new decade, lol, but the last few weeks I allowed myself to take a little break and do some stress/coping eating :rotfl: so I am currently up a little bit again, and 1 lb over that decade now. I'm hoping by the trip I can get at least halfway into the next decade.

Oh yeah, I should have mentioned, another big motivator for me is maintaining my sanity and mental health! Lol

You seriously DO NOT look your age! And don't worry about the whites, I started getting them in my mid-20s! Runs in my family, lol. I am currently well on my way to developing a couple of white streaks :scared1: That reminds me though, I haven't colored my hair in ages, and I really wanted to do something fun and funky and try an oil slick look. Think I'll try to make an appointment before the trip!

You did good with the acronym! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I just worked off your hashtag--team work!
That reminds me to get a hair appointment unless I want to "Disney Bound" as Cruella or something. . .

Thanks for the input everyone! My timing is terrible for posing this question because work is unavoidably getting in the way.

Just paid for the regular dining plan and we are there 9 nights--minor details! lol (sorry about that lack of relevent info!!) I have changed ADRs so many times I really have no idea any longer whether or not that is the right choice?? At one point it was, but plans looked a bit different then. In some instances we will be sharing; we just have so many places we want to try!!

Okay, I've been an off-the-wagon WW member for awhile. Back in 2012 I joined and lost 65 pounds in about a year. It was great and I loved it but I never made it to goal (not WW's fault, it's a psychological barrier for me) and after gaining back 10 pounds or so, I've struggled ever since. I've now "struggled" my way up to 25+ pounds over my lowest. :( Anyway, as I considered how to go about the #OL10LB challenge, I decided my best bet is to do an Atkin's-style induction. I'm such a sugar/carb addict, eating in moderation hasn't been working for me over the past few months. I really need to just break that desire! Anyway, I figure if I'm wanting to lose 7-10 pounds in 2-3 weeks, induction is one of the quickest, surest methods for doing so. The bacon we had for breakfast was delicious! :goodvibes I figure I'll be dying by Sunday though. :faint: But three weeks from tomorrow I'll be at Disney! :thumbsup2

Low/moderate carb and carb cycling has really helped my weight loss! I just need to be more strict about it!

Ok, that helps! This is probably what I would do. I am not using two table service credits at CRT because I have a lot of character meals and the price point doesn't make sense for me personally, but I would probably in your case since you have a lot of non-character breakfasts that might make more sense to be OOP.

  • Tangierine Cafe Lunch -- QUICK SERVICE credit
  • Coral Reef Dinner -- TABLE SERVICE credit #1
  • Garden Grill Breakfast-- TABLE SERVICE credit #2
  • Teppan Edo Lunch -- TABLE SERVICE credit #3
  • Flametree Lunch -- QUICK SERVICE credit (if not part of ROL package)
  • Yak & Yeti Dinner-OOP
  • Boma Breakfast -- OOP
  • BOG Dinner-- TABLE SERVICE credit #4
  • TRex Lunch-OOP
  • Wolfgang Puck Express Dinner-- QUICK SERVICE credit
  • H&V Dinner-- TABLE SERVICE credit #5
  • Whispering Canyon Cafe Lunch-OOP
  • Pecos Bills Dinner-- QUICK SERVICE credit
  • Tusker House Breakfast-- TABLE SERVICE credit #6
  • CRT Dinner-- TABLE SERVICE credit #7&8
  • Crystal Palace Breakfast-- TABLE SERVICE credit #9
  • Spirit of Aloha Dinner (pre-paid)
  • Maybe breakfast at the Wave departure day??-OOP

Totally agree with this. The only thing I would do is I would probably use 1 or 2 table credits for T-Rex and Yak and Yeti (for more expensive entrees) and pay OOP for Crystal Palace which is 31.95 per person. With a more expensive steak entree (i.e. T-rex has a new york strip for 33.99 and Yak and Yeti has shrimo and steak for 28.99), dessert and drink, you would be spending more than 31.95. You can share the dessert too (if you're into sharing) ;)

On the #OL10LB front - yesterday I exceeded my step goal, met my water goal and was under my calorie goal. Yay! for everyone getting in shape for the mouse :goodvibes

On the vacation prep front - I've always had the kids dress matchy-matchy on vacations (and I'm not talking just Disney, lol.) I figured this was the year that needed to stop and I would let them wear what they want. I threw that out the window yesterday :rotfl2:and have been madly inventorying closets and trying to fill holes so we can all color co-ordinate. I guess once you're "that" mom, you're *always* "that" mom :rotfl:

Count me in as another person trying to lose 10# before this trip...I'm cutting carbs and sugar. In the meantime I started trying on shorts to see if any fit and a few do but some are white...not winter white..white! So what's the consensus on white shorts during the winter...yay or nay?

@areno79 @Iowamomof4 @kaci I love hearing all the great things that work for you for hitting our #OL10LB goals! It's always so interesting to hear all the different methods and strategies that work for different people!

For me, logging and tracking is what works. I use MyFitnessPal to track everything I eat. It's like doing WW except it's counting the actual cals not points. I like playing with numbers so I make a game each day of seeing what I can fit into my daily calorie goal. And it's easy to use since it's an app, so it has a barcode scanner, and remembers all my usual entries. What really helps me too, is that it gives me a deficit before adding in my exercise. So if I exercise, when I log those calories burned I get to eat them back, since I already have the deficit before working out! Motivation to go harder and longer in my workouts to get a few extra treats in! :rotfl: Can you tell I like to eat?

@DisneyBelle27 Thank you and you should get something fun done to your hair--it's a good pick me up!

I just worked off your hashtag--team work!

@PlutosUnDr8d Cruella, but that's a great look! :rotfl: And @LBlovesM&WDW you are absolutely right, def a good pick me up! So I did it, just made my appointment! It worked out great because the girl who does the more complex color stuff didn't have availability that matched my availability until 12/1. My trip starts on 12/6 so I'll be all nice and fresh for Disney! :cool1:

Just got another Etsy shipment today   It's really for anytime during the holidays, but this trip was my excuse for buying it, lol. It's a little necklace pendant made on the back of a Scrabble tile! And I was able to request the letter K for my name! In addition to being a big Disney nerd and Christmas nerd I am also a word nerd and huge bookworm so I loved that it was on a Scrabble tile. :goodvibes

I'm no etiquette guru, but I always think white looks nice. And I always assume people who are wearing white must be more sophisticated than me because I'm a big ol' mess of stains within minutes anytime I try to wear it... I say, if you like 'em, wear 'em! :thumbsup2
