***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

Same. I was so in shock/disappointed that when everyone was talking about the jbjb party I glossed over it. Then I asked my family and dd said she wanted to go and then I found out it is sold out. So I'm sad to miss you guys :( so now we have to decide if we do f! Or the jbjb (non party). We haven't seen either but at the end of a long day, f! Is appealing because I can FP it and it's seated.

I also think we will hang on to emm because of the great reviews plus it gives us a head start on meeting merida and ariel!

I imagine some people will move things around so you should still keep checking for the party cancellation on 12/3. It might open up!

@Iowamomof4 Yay!! This will make the beginning of your trip so much less stressful! :cheer2::cheer2:

@Iowamomof4 and @Mintycake keeping checking for cancellations for 12/3 dessert party! Especially after the initial reviews. I suspect that alot of people just book because of the frenzy.

I'll be hoping for pixie dust!:wizard:

@Iowamomof4 inspired me to go check airfares.. . I could actually change my flight to the day before and get a$12 refund and then add a night ro or do a night at Uni....
Can pakage tickets be activated early?

Yes, they can! We did it last time and will have to do it this time as well. You won't be able to make fastpasses ahead of time, but other than that it's no problem.

You should totally do that @BDFmom and get to enjoy a day with your DD at universal. I feel that I've read here that package tickets can be activated early at customer service at the park. I'm sure a cm could verify for certain over the phone!

We did it! We moved our flight! I also booked EMM right away for Sunday morning just to be safe. I'm hoping to get our Christmas party tickets moved to Thursday so I'll call about that this afternoon. Things are falling into place now. :sail:Hopefully smooth-sailing from here on out. :thumbsup2
Yay! Glad to hear after your disappointment with EMM on 11/29.

mind blown on this as a possibility.
I know, right?!?!?! I am REALLY hoping they have a later show because of the hoopla surrounding this show!

Holy moley that was long and convoluted but I got it done! I had to move our Christmas party to Thursday from Sunday but that wasn't much of a problem other than they couldn't refund my $6.xx because I had used my DVA to pay for it and they apparently can't refund to that. I said to the guy when he told me we WOULD get a refund (before he knew about the dva acct) that we could use it for a Dole Whip or something. Then, after he found out he couldn't get the money back to me we decided that was okay because we'd rather have the party on the night that works best than have the $6 so we made the change and left it at that. About 5 minutes after I got off the phone with him, he called me back and said he felt so bad about the $6 he was going to give me a # to take to guest services inside the park along with my ID and they would give me certificates for 6 Dole Whips! :drinking1 :bounce: So that was a pretty good trade-off!

THEN I had to call and make reservations for the EMM to zero out the balance in my DVA. The first lady at Disney dining said EMM wasn't coming up in her system so she transferred me over to events. That lady was working on getting the tickets for me but as soon as I mentioned paying with my dva she right away transferred me to guest relations. Guest relations couldn't understand why I had been transferred at all because EMM should be booked as dining. So she transferred me BACK to dining again. This time, the dining lady (a different one) was able to get the EMM booked. Again though, when I mentioned paying with a dva she first told me she couldn't do that. I told her I was just sure others had done this so I thought there should be a way. She seemed open to trying something so I suggested trying to run it as a gift card (thought I had remembered others doing that) and it worked! So I was able to use the balance on my dva plus a few bucks from my rewards card to pay for the EMM. :thumbsup2 She was pleased that I taught her something new today. :D

EDIT: The whole time I was trying to get the EMM booked I was so scared it would sell out before I got it done. Then, when I first told the gal (the one that got it to work in the end) that I wanted to book it, I gave her 12/27 instead of 11/27, so when she said they weren't holding EMM that day I about passed out! Then I realized my error and we got it straight. :faint:

Phew, now I need a nap!:surfweb:

Wow! They should've have given you 6 dole whips with rum! ;) that's great everything worked out nicely in the end! It'll be an extra great vacation because of all the effort you put in :)

I'm now contemplating renting a van. Price for rentals right now are good. On 12/4, i wanted to take the girls and go to gatorland. It's definitely off the beaten path, but DD1 has been learning about reptiles lately and I think it would be neat for her to see them all. A car would also make our switch from the BC to AKL a smooth one.
Any thoughts?

If the price is good it would probably be nice to have a car. We're driving down and will have a car. We'll be using the buses for MK but might actually drive to the other parks and our meals at non park resorts (like poly) just to make it easier on us. It'll also be nice to drive to a grocery store for kid stuff!

Oh my word!!!! Hahaha!! You deserve another week at a Disney...start planning! Lol!

I was sort of going to wait for the website to show it but when people started having success and then reporting long hold times I figured better get what I want while I could (always book now, think about it later!) Still shocked the 3rd sold out so fast but it seemed like so many people not even in this thread were booking that day.

SWA has been high for me for months too although recently began to drop again. I booked when it was lowest and it went up steadily until it was double what I paid and now back down to 1.5x what I paid. so I don't know.

What I DO know is that free dining is a huge resort-filling promo for WDW and allowing check in dates up to 11/28 will have some people showing up the week before and staying through til sunday the 4th. I think this is why EMM is sold out on 11/29 as well. That is literally the only check in window (after thanksgiving and until 11/28) where you can get all of the christmas stuff under free dining. Yes I know that MVMCP is going to be running in November and now JBJB in HS, but Holidays around the World is a HUGE draw too. Neil Patrick Harris is doing CP narration from 11/28-12/1 and HE is a huge draw. 12/1 is the thursday. so I think all of that is going to make the Disney resorts and Disney restaurants very busy until 12/3-12/4... but as we all found making our FP+ there was plenty of availability for that week for pretty much anything we wanted. I even got 7DMT for the last day of my trip more than a week after the 60+ day window opened up.

That said, and as I have said over and over, just because the disney onsite resorts are full to the gills, it doesn't mean the parks will be. But I am not surprised that all of the special amazing events that people who are in the know enough to get the free dining promo also know about are selling out for that time too. The 12/3 date is especially pivotal because a whole bunch of us wanted that date, but it is also a last night thing for people the week before (which as I've explained above will be a very popular week). But that said I have read that Disney occupancy is always 85%+ no matter what the season in their hotels... disney hotel occupancy does not drive in park crowds... it is the off site people... who are going to be on lower budgets in general and less likely to be booking this kind of stuff. I mean even in this thread... look at how many of us are staying onsite vs. offsite. there may be one or two people staying offsite that I've seen post in this thread. I think that is why 11/29 EMM is booked up too... it's just right in that sweet spot of the only free dining week that has all of the xmas stuff, NPH narrating and the rest of it. I'm not sure if you have to be an onsite guest to do EMM but it does seem like it is the kind of thing that would appeal to people with more generous budgets, staying onsite rather than staying off site and eating in the room and in offsite restaurants etc. Just two different types of trips IMO.

Anyway that is my theory about all of it lol.
Just some clarifications...people staying offsite can book EMM. I am staying offsite and we are doing EMM. We stay offsite because my in-laws have a timeshare through Westgate. So of course it makes sense to use it. I would say we have a generous budget and don't eat in our condo room, except for some breakfasts or when we want to take some time away from the parks. We aren't there for a free dining week, but because it's the week we like to go. Perfect weather, Christmas decorations are up and my kids have an extended break from school so we can have a 12 day vacation and they only miss 3 school days.
