***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

Thanks but we are having breakfast at Trails End that morning. Bacon overload here I come. :) I know we won't eat for hours after that. ;)

Worth the trek over there for breakfast? We weren't so impressed with our dinner there, but I imagine breakfast is pretty good. I don't recall where you're staying, but I don't think you're staying at the Fort. All the breakfasts are SOOO tempting to me! I just love breakfast buffets. :)

Speaking of positivity in attitude, anyone ever play 3 great things with friends or family? Where you go around and share 3 great things that happened that day or that you are grateful for? Anyone want to do a 1st Week of December thread version?

 bacon bananadance.
why is my banana not dancing? dance, banana, dance!

I'm sorry LTT is a disappointment to you. it's been so long since I've been there (a decade or even more maybe) that I am happy to have an app and dessert. But I get it :p

And while nowhere near as exciting as getting a PPO BOG or having your trip paid in full, I just got a Touring Plans text for a Tusker lunch for 6 people on 12/8. I managed to book it and now I don't have to worry about our party not being seated together (our original plans were two Tusker ADRs-- one for 4 people and one for 2 people).

Hmmmm....well, all my explanations seem to be long stories! haha The simple answer and really, the only part that truly matters, is that the TA came through. The relief is enormous!

THANKS for all the banana dances and cheers and stuff everyone! You guys are all so much fun! @Candycane83 that response was so pretty!! :flower1:

YAY I'm so glad everyone has worked out their TA issues. Not a good way to lead into the trip - thank goodness for the 30 day deadline so you all have time to recover from the trauma.

Three great things that happened today:
1) kiddo did ok at school and was playing with other kids at the Y after school program when I picked him up. Today his dad left after a long weekend and transitions are very hard for him, but he came through it like a champ. He also struggles with the friendship thing (I think he perceives it as worse than it is) so to see him playing with other kids rather than sulking and waiting for me was great.
2) I have not put kiddo to bed since Friday night and we had extended cuddle time tonight. I missed it so much!
3) I am reminded for many reasons on this thread how lucky we are that we all found each other. cannot wait for jib jab PAR-TAY!!!!

That is as exciting! TH has become one tough thing to book, the word is out that the food is so good for a buffet and there are characters too.:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:
you get a bananadance for each person at your table!

Not having to worry about seating arrangements at TH is SUPER DUPER exciting!! :rockband: Congrats!! :flower1:

yay!! That deserves some cheers and banana dances too!!:banana::banana::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: Is that the last ADR you were looking for?

I was a very anxious parent when kiddo was a baby and also very anxious about what people thought of me and would retreat whenever he got a little fussy for fear of being judged, so I get it. I was also NOT at my best and got easily rattled and did not want ANYONE seeing that. But that is around the time when I started to get over it a bit (really once they hit the toddler phase their behavior can be so unpredictable and outsized for the situation you really have to learn to get over it, lol). It is good to start letting him (the kid not the husband but the husband too) work through his emotions on his own and not whisk him away to somewhere safe and private whenever his emotions are in flux.

But it is really hard being a parent in today's society. I think in the past when kids did normal kid things it was expected and this myth of the perfect parent did not exist. It couldn't because people worked too hard, had too many kids and life was too uncertain to worry about that nonsense. Communities would pitch in and parent other people's kids. It wasn't all good but it wasn't all bad. Nowadays we all have special snowflakes (me too) and it's like some big competition... do your kids eat quinoa and kale and LOVE it? do they never watch tv? blah blah blah. We are judged everywhere we look...breast vs. bottle, working mom vs. stay at home mom and the list goes on and on and on. I think we are all conditioned to be jumpy when our kids start acting up. In some ways Disney is great because in 90% of the cases no one cares if your kid is acting up because 10 feet away someone else's is also acting up and maybe worse than yours. So maybe it will be great for your DH to chill out a bit about how the kid is behaving and let him work through some of his own stuff for a bit. If not gosh enjoy the quiet and solitude and ability to do what you want when you want it. So rare as a mom!
All so very true. It's a funny thing that before we had our first child I never really paid any attention to other people's parenting styles or "skills" for lack of a better word. But after she was born I seemed to notice everything around me. Whether at a family get-together, or even watching strangers in public.

I can recall when DD was born we wanted to be perfect parents (no such thing BTW) that whenever she began to cry, or as a toddler throw a fit, we realized we were worried more about what family, friends, and even strangers around us were thinking. We didn't want to be perceived as being overwhelmed or unable to deal with the situation. It took some time but we eventually realized that every parent has these moments and we were no different.

I will say though, that I believe the old saying about a dog being able to "smell fear" also applies to children when it comes to thier parents. That is to say that if a parent is feeling anxious or uncomfortable about a situation, I believe the parents child(ren) will pick up on it and become anxious or uncomfortable themselves. I think it is every parent's instinct to care for thier child(ren) first and themselves second. But IMHO, this might be backwards. Think of when you are on an airplane and the flight attendant tells you that in an emergency, put the air mask on yourself first, then your child. Proof that you are better suited to help your child if your not struggling and gasping for air. This rule might apply to more than just airplanes. I can't say for sure though, as I am still learning myself.

If you read all of this, you owe me $0.01. Because that's about all it's worth.

Sounds like a good plan! And you already have LTT planned on another day so you have it made :)
I think a soup and a cupcake will be just perfect. someone else mentioned that fries and a cupcake did it for their picky child there. I mean, so not healthy, but it's our last day so... i'll make him drink milk with it to get some protein in lol

this is so true. SO TRUE. It is something that I have proven to myself time and time again and know intellectually but it is very difficult sometimes to overcome the emotional optics of the situation and do that. But I'm a work in progress, as we all are.

I like to say "take my advice... I'm not using it anyway!"

I love breakfast too, and I love a variety. two bites of this, a bite of that, a pile of bacon, happy happy girl. That's why we are doing breakfast every day but two (and that's to fit in early lunches).

BTW I have a 10:50am Dec 8th Ohana that I am ready to give up if anyone wants it! for 2

Did you 2 successfully transfer that Teppan Edo? I was hanging onto mine (well yours) just in case something went wrong with the transfer.

@Talby Thank goodness it's finalized!

As for sharing 3 things:

1. Awesome new buddies and special thanks to @SilSprBea and all who helped get my Minnie's Seasonal Dine.
2. Super thankful to have a wonderful hubby who loves WDW as well.
3. We'll be on our way a month from now, probably stopping for the night in the Carolinas right now!

@Candycane83 Your son is 2, so he is going to have moments and it's perfectly "normal" and we've all either been there or wish we could help.
