***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

And to add to the afternoon break vs nap in stroller convo - we never left in the afternoon. My 6.5yo had boundless energy all day into the night, and my stroller hating not quite 2yo conked out for 1.5 or so hours every afternoon. It was a miracle. We rented a good stroller with a reclining seat and a huge sun shade and that really helped. I was fully prepared to take him back to the room each day but we never had to. We also didn't stay too late most nights either though. This trip I'm hoping the Disney stroller nap magic happens again, and even works for a few later nights. Particularly that 10pm wishes that is 2 hours past normal bedtime!

We were in Animal Kingdom Tuesday night. It was rain free that night but had poured earlier in the afternoon. We are home now, happy to have made it out of Orlando before the flights were cancelled.

We had a fabulous evening in Animal Kingdom. I had made a fastpass for the safari for late afternoon and the animals were very active. The park was a lot less crowded, and cooler, than it is in the day time. We had dinner at Yak & Yeti and then watched the Awakening of the Tree of Life. I swore that we would always go to AK in the evening from now on. ::yes:: We didn't need our fp for the safari since the afternoon rain chased everyone out of the park. But that might not be the case in December.
yay for awesome timing. A friend of mine from here just flew down yesterday. She is just planning to ride out the storm for a couple days then enjoy her vacation. They are saying gusts 50-60mph which is pretty much typical winter storm winds on the vineyard so no biggie to us, lol. it's a stay indoors and hunker down but don't panic. the rains will be huge though, they are on the rainy side rather than the windy side of the storm.

that was my experience with my 6 year old as well. Good way to put it, lol. Of course i let him ride in the stroller when he was tired but he did NOT want to go back and nap. I tried one day, made the room really dark, cranky kid, he tossed and turned. Said screw that and just skipped the afternoon nap plan.

This is what I'm hoping for! For my two year old to conk out in his stroller! fingers crossed!

I love you beautiful plans. To answer your Ohana question, if it were me I'd keep it on the day (12/8) after your late MK night to allow some recovery time. I've been planning my days to have some late starts if we were up the night before.

We had one little Grand-baby who normally sleeps every time he rides in his car seat, but would not nap in the stroller at the parks. He was too busy people watching. One afternoon, hot and cranky (him as well as us), we decided to take him into the Hall of Presidents show for a nap. I am not sure if he ever fell asleep, because all the grown ups fell asleep. When the lights came back up, everyone woke up and the 2 year old was bright eyed and bushy tailed.

That is so funny! I may have to build the hall of presidents into my plans!

Haha!

We skipped HOP last trip but need to squeeze it in this time...because depending on how this November goes I may never want to go back in :scared::laughing:

I have a lot of catching up to do. This is a busy thread. :)

They are closing Hall of Presidents for five months but I don't know when the start date for the refurb will be. It is a good place to rest for awhile. :)

12/9 - checkout day...catch DME at 7am :(

I'm torn between which day to keep Ohana. I'm thinking on 12/8 as I don't have a lunch scheduled and it does allow sleep in time as 12/7 will be a late night.

you want comments? lol
for 12/4 I would keep 50's PT lunch and FP+ F! after RnR if the party isn't offered (but I know it will be).

for 12/5 if you do 4:10 Teppan Edo there won't be time for a break and then to be back at 6. 4:10 seated by 4:15, done in an hour is 5:15, walk back to resort, you've got a break not worth the effort. If you really want to do TE then maybe see if you can swap for your later Tokyo Dining time. regardless, dinner in that slot whatever it is.

for 12/6 I would not be doing park fare with dd at sandcastle club, it is way too much effort and too far away. I would honestly do either a nice dinner in the boardwalk area OR qs in the park and do park stuff. i wouldn't try to do dinner and then park stuff. I think it is too much stuff for one night. Highly recommend Tangierine cafe for CS dinner. super yummy and sorry I am missing it. For your FP+ I would book two earlier in the day tier 2's and let them expire and then try to book a tier 1 (SOARIN'!) for your mission space or spaceship earth slot. by that time of night most people have shifted to world showcase and anything tier 2 is going to not have a long enough wait to warrant a FP+. the tier 1 rides will still have long waits and require a FP+. as soon as you scan in your FP+ at FEA you will likely be able to pick up either TT or Soarin' for a "before illuminations evening slot". Even if you can't (which is a real possibility) I don't think it will impact your other plans to take the chance because you should be able to get on spaceship earth with little wait (and mission space if you want to but it does not sound like you really do). That is what I would do there, is try to get my butt on Soarin' in that time slot. Also sunshine seasons is not a bad choice for dinner either to be honest, it is not ethnic like world showcase but has good food.

12/7 you may not get a window table at narcoossees at that time of night. I think people will already be holding them for fireworks 90 minutes later. If you are ok with just stepping outside to watch that won't be a problem, you can have dessert at a less than prime table and go stand outside to watch. But honestly i'd leave more flexibility here... there are plenty of good non ADR free spots to watch the fireworks from around the lagoon. Pretty much any of the boat docks are good and don't require ADRs, so if it's getting too crowded in the park for you guys you can just take a boat to any of the resorts for a great view. Also the beaches are good too (and gator safe now). I have also read that the tiki terrace (i think that's what it's called, the outside seating of Trader Sam's) is a great place to watch and they might even pipe the music in. With a child your daughter's age I would not be booking an ADR so late even for dessert.

12/8 I'd do the 10:30 ohana and the rest looks good.

my opinions, worth exactly what you paid for them :)

I've really enjoyed reading everyone's plans; they all look fantastic. :thumbsup2 So well thought out....almost as if you've been obsessively planning for months or something! ;)
Yep!

Is anyone here in the path of Hurricane Matthew?

And @Wood Nymph I believe you were in AK, was it last night? How long is your stay?

Can't help but think "stay safe" thoughts. I'm surely sending them. :grouphug:
Yes, stay safe everyone who may be in the path of Hurricane Matthew! Scary stuff!

My kids also conk out too! When we were in Phoenix, we used our new stroller and about 1.5 hours later, both kids were asleep! It was great!

This is what I'm hoping for! For my two year old to conk out in his stroller! fingers crossed!
Yes! Just out of curiosity, what type of stroller do you have?
