***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

@Lisa F My mom and I started taking my niece/godchild for her 7th birthday up until our last trip at 16 and now she's 19. Even on our DM, M & I missed them both and wished they were there (sort of) and know we'll feel the same this time. Even though she was really like "ours", I know it will be even more special with our daughter (yes, we want a girl) and can't wait to take her to our happy place. Thank you for the kind words.

@Talby Thank you so much, I'm in tears. What an amazing job, I can't imagine the feeling of giving the world to someone (that's how I look at it). As an aside, I adore all babies, but have such an affinity for Asian children (so freaking cute).

For some reason I totally forgot to join/watch this thread! We are going the first week of December (Nov 30 - Dec 8th), this will be our first time going in December, last year we just missed all the holiday decorations (we left as they were literally putting up the train and stuff at YC). Can't wait!

Wow! You guys all have such interesting and amazing jobs! I'm probably the most boring one here! Lol DH and I work for a bank. I work on the operations end and DH works more on the reporting end. :) oh and just to add, my name is Candice :D

Right? I work in medical billing. It's super boring, but our vacations and PTO flexibility are AWESOME, so I put up with the monotony because it means I get to go on fun trips! :D

LOL - I so hear you on that! All along we had been planning to do the Tuesday night party (11/29) because I wanted to do it early in the trip and thought that particular Tuesday seemed the best hope for being the least crowded. However, just in the last week or so, we've switched our thinking to the Thursday night party. Thursday night happens to be when I have H&V dinner booked, so now I have to find a new ADR for that one on a new night! Dh and I took a walk last night though and I said, "Under what circumstances do you think we would switch back to thinking about the Tuesday party again?" I like planning, but sometimes I get frustrated that we can't know what itinerary we'll settle on until we actually get there. Like, why didn't I figure out our current plan BEFORE I made our initial ADR's?! It would have been so much easier.

Oh my gosh...I KNOW!! It seems there is never a CLEAR AND OBVIOUS choice. Like...if we do the party this night, then such and such. BUT if we do the party that night, then such and such. In scenario A we need to switch ADRs/parks/wake up time...but wouldn't that be so GREAT? But look how AWESOME scenario B is!! It's never easy. Not a terrible problem to have! lol It's just not easy fine-tuning so many details. There are a million and one appealing options, each with their own compelling aspects. I have a love/hate relationship with planning. Mostly love, but definitely addicted! lol :-)

I get this!! I no longer work at the adoption agency as the owner retired (one of the best jobs I've ever had though, that's for sure). I work at home as a medical transcriptionist. As a single mom, the flexibility to cater to my kids' schedules over the years has been worth its weight in gold!! (sick days, school events, etc.) Pros and cons to everything, but the pro of flexibility weighs super heavy! Getting to go on fun trips would too--maybe I'll look into medical billing! lol ;)

@Maryemcd Thanks for that CM input!! Love how helpful everyone is here. :-) My teens decided on The Wave. And honestly, it felt nice having someone else make a decision since I have a few unknowns floating around in my head! I admire and appreciate decisiveness so much! They made it seem so simple...I gave options, they made a decision. Huh, I guess some people do that?

I'm loving all the intros! I can't believe it took us this long to think of that. :)

Who: Myself (Jamie-31) and my husband (Brad-29) from Pittsburgh, PA
About us: I'm an engineer. Brad is a carpenter. Brad has never been to USO or WDW. I have been to both, but not to USO since I was very young and I did a short WDW trip in college, but I know we didn't fit a lot in. We like theme parks and thrill rides. Normally we go to Cedar Point for the roller coasters. I had to explain to Brad that this will be a different kind of theme park so he wasn't dissappointed. He is NOT a planner and I am. So I just try to involve him when possible. I forced him to be involved in picking the resort so he couldn't blame me if he was unhappy! We have a little farm that currently consists of 2 horses, 8 chickens, 7 ducks, 4 turkeys, plus 3 dogs and 8 cats. That keeps us busy!
Why: Honeymoon (4 yrs belated!). We just had our 4 yr anniversary last Friday. We haven't traveled anywhere together since before our wedding, at least not more than just a day trip somewhere. Mainly because after the wedding we were buying a house with land and moving to start our little farm. Since then we've just been dumping all of our money into the house/property and I finally said we have to have a vacation!
When & Where: Overall trip is 11/24-12/4. We fly down to Orlando Thanksgiving evening and stay at a Marriott resort by the airport with points for the first night. 11/25 & 11/26 are at Universal staying at the Royal Pacific Resort. 11/27 we do half a day at US and then move over to the Boardwalk villa and use our MVMCP party tickets to enter MK around 4pm. 11/28-12/3 are WDW park days, which I'm still not entirely set on. And so far our departure day is not a park day, but we don't have to leave for the airport until like 5pm, so there's a lot of time there.
Extras: MVMCP on 11/27. Wild Africa Trek on 11/29 @ 8am.

All you fellow crocheters: I am making my own Minnie Mouse ears. I wanted something super sparkly, so I got sparkly yarn. I also wanted a headband that will stay on but won't kill my head throughout the day. The headband is covered and the ears are made. I just need to attach them and then attach the bridal veil I'm making for it, since we're celebrating our 25th anniversary. I'll post pics when it's done.

But before I can do that, I have to get a sweater finished today for a class I'm teaching in 2.5 weeks. The yarn store already has samples, but they also wanted one done in a particular yarn they carry.

I should give a little bit more of an intro now that everyone has shared. I was also SO tired last night again.

My name is Lisa (boring I know, lol) and as you all know I am traveling with kiddo, my 8 year old son. He has been to Disney a lot in his short life, with both of us pre divorce and separately post. He's been twice with his dad and once with me. I've been more times than I can count and still feel one of the best decisions of my life was talking the ex into disney vacation club in January of 1999. Second best decision was deciding 5 years after our divorce that things were amicable enough that maybe we could just share it in lieu of money he still owed me from the divorce settlement (I agreed to let him keep it but he was supposed to compensate me for it). It sounds a little crazy but when I "got my DVC back" it was one of the happiest days of my post divorce life.

So here we are taking our second mom & kiddo trip and I can't wait! I have my M.Arch degree but currently am doing kitchen design because I find that that job is a lot more flexible with my time and conducive to being a single mom (architecture is a man's world, kitchen design is mostly women so bosses are very understanding). Plus, I love kitchens. It was always my favorite part of any project. My most interesting kitchen was inspired by the art of Piet Mondrian and it was written up in a local design magazine (complete with my picture). Almost as exciting as getting my DVC back.

I have been going to disney for a very long time and I have a brain for planning so my plans may seem a little overboard detailed, but I can honestly envision every step in my head. But I am also super flexible about making changes on the fly too (except usually to dining) so we'll see what I end up actually doing there. My last trip I felt super rusty with all of the new stuff but it worked out great - I ended up changing a lot of FP+ on the fly to make my day in the park flow better. Now that I'm "reminded" by that experience to minimize walking by keeping attractions close together I shouldn't have to make as many changes but we'll see especially with the SDFP thing.

I am doing a crazy split stay like @Candycane83. It is much easier with kiddo's issues for me to be near the park I'm going to be in. Also we had a disagreement about whether to do BWV of Poly Villas so after researching split stays I decided to do both. We are doing the first 4 nights at BWV with DxDDP (credits to be spread over 5 full days) focusing on Epcot, HS and AK and the last 3 nights at the Poly focusing on MK and MK area stuff. Then I decided to fly out Friday instead of Saturday so Saturday would be a full day and I added a night at AKL because it was available and because our first day is at AK. For the split stay I plan to pack 4 separate bags: 1) toiletries and overnight bag for AKL 2) suitcase for BWV stay which I will unpack upon arrival and repack dirty clothes into it as I go and 3) suitcase for Poly Villas, will do the same 4) a small bag that will bring bottled water and be used to throw mouse-cellaneous stuff into like maps and papers and receipts and extra souvenirs.

I will post the short version of my plans without the FP+s and that stuff (I will post that later once I have it all worked out - I have it about half worked out now) but here are the highlights/parks/ADRs and major plans:

:welcome: This is a great group of Disney planners; I'm so glad I stumbled on it!

What a great idea!! I can't wait to see how they turn out! I made a baby hat with Minnie ears for a friend last year, and the whole time I was making them I was thinking, "How could I edit this and make my own Minnie toboggan???"

Awesome!! I made a Mickey Mouse hat for my newborn baby cousin; it came out so great that my other cousin wants one. I'm thinking of making one myself for this trip (in case it gets cold), I just need to figure out a way to get the ears to stay up a little better. If I find a pic of the hat I made, I'll share it :)

Also, I'm a fellow YA book lover. I just finished the 5th Wave books; but really enjoy the genre as they're usually easy reads.

My Re-Intro and Trip Details

Cast of Characters

Me (Amy): 51 years old, crochet designer/instructor, co-owner and Social Media Director of Crochetville, a large online community dedicated to crochet with our own message board with 67,000 members, a Facebook page with over 267,000 fans, and a blog. I also enjoy many other fiber arts such as knitting, spinning, weaving, and sbout to learn dyeing. I love to read (favorites are J K Rowling, L M Montgomery, J R R Tolkien, and lots of young adults authors); I love cozy mysteries, science fiction, and fantasy. I also enjoy reading comic books when I have the time. I also love cats (we have 6; the last 2 were accidents). I love the mountains (grew up in East Tennessee) and enjoy the beach.

DH (Mark): 55 years old, software engineer/manager for a company that does work for NASA and DoD; he's written all sorts of software for payload experiments on the old space shuttles and all sorts of experiments and life support systems for the International Space Station. He loves breeding saltwater fish when he has the time. He loves the beach and enjoys the mountains. In the Myers-Briggs personality testing, he's an ISTJ and I'm an INFP. He's about as introverted as you can get; I'm pretty much in the middle. In many ways we're opposites, but we complement each other well.

We have 2 kids. Our DD is 23 and just started her first year in grad school for a PhD at UNC Chapel Hill. She's mainly interested in genetics/genomics, but she could end up in cancer research. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 2011. Our DS is 20 and is attending community college in Tuscaloosa and working as a waiter while he figures out what he wants to do with his life.

wow I did not know we had a celebrity in our midst! I work with people ALL DAY LONG but in truth I am an introvert. I am exhausted. After I talk to a customer for like an hour I just want to crawl under my desk and recharge, lol. it's not that I can't be outgoing, it's just that it really exhausts the hell out of me. crocheting is so cool, I can do a chain and the other basic stitch. no patience!

Our travelling party consists of:
- Myself (or Emily, Em, etc...hey you works too!)
- DH
- DD1 who will be 3.5 at the time of the vacation. While she still likes Minnie, we've moved on to Doc McStuffins and Elena of Avalor. She also is learning about the princesses too. So far, Ariel seems to be who she likes to talk about the most!
- DD2 who will be 10.5 months at the time of travel. She's just been hitting all of her milestones lately at once! Crazy! She loves Doc's theme song and immediately starts to dance when she hear's it!
The four of us will be traveling November 29th - December 9th. From 11/29-12/1, we will be staying at the Beach Club Villas, by renting points. On 12/1 we'll hop to Animal Kingdom Lodge - Jambo House. That evening we'll be attending MVMCP! On December 3rd, my parents (aka gpa and dpa), two youngest sisters (Ro and Ash), and brother with family (DW, girl aged 3 and boy aged 8 months at travel time) will be joining us and also staying at the AKL.

We've never visited during the holiday time frame so this is all new to us. It almost makes me feel like a first timer! Only 84 days to go!:santa::mickeyjum
sounds like an awesome family gathering! And I know gpa and dpa are going to take the kiddos so you guys get a break. super sweet!

Looks like you may have some room on your schedule to go to the SW dessert party on 12/3....Just sayin!! ;)

I actually let my husband make that call a couple days ago, since he is more into Star Wars than I am. I'm not big on fireworks in general. So I'd want to go to the SW party just for dessert and booze lol. I showed him the SW fireworks on youtube and asked just if it was something he wanted to see. Surprisingly, he said no! And I watched a video of F! and I don't think we'd be interested in that either. So not looking good for late night entertainment in HS for us. We'll just settle with the rides and some of the shows throughout the day.

My husband was very disappointed when I told him Jedi training was only for kids! As another poster mentioned, he said he was going to try to sign up anyway and I told him I was going to pretend I didn't know him. haha.

I'm scheduling in seeing Illuminations once, since that is easy to see without reserving spots and we'll be in Epcot a lot at night. I'm also planning to see Wishes on our party night and possibly our late night in MK on a non-party night, depending on how we liked the party version.

It's totally up to him, of course, but I will say that nearly everyone who has seen the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular show agrees that the videos just can't do it justice. As a Star Wars fan, I absolutely can't wait to experience the show in person even though the video didn't exactly "wow" me. :)
