Hello All! I need some advice! after all the trips with the kids, I now have a wonderful opportunity to go to "the World" without them!! I am so excited about spending 5 days in Disney just the two of us that I am overwelmed with the possibilities!! so, that's where I need your advice!! Any suggestions on making this an even more Magical than usual trip??? Believe it or not, after 9 years of marriage, this will be our first vacation alone so I want to make it as perfect as possible -- but we are on a budget so Victoria & albert's is out :( ..... I'd love to hear your thoughts or suggestions... Thanks!

If it were me, I'd definitely hit California Grille for a nice dinner and try to catch Fantasy in the Sky. Whenever you go and whatever you do, enjoy!!

DH and I have done Disney without DD twice, and both were a blast.

The 1st time, we stayed at PO-R (then DXL) in Alligator Bayou. We were only there for 5 days, but we made the most of them. We took advantage of the early entry mornings, took our time shopping at DTD, and ate at Fulton's (yum), had strawberry margaritas at Capt Jacks while watching the sunset. Spent an evening designing and riding Virtual Space Mountain at DQ, rented paddle boats and paddled down the Sassagoula River, discovered Narcoosee's and their yummy Margaritas, and yards of beer (only DH did that). And of course, had to do a character meal, and eat at Cape May Cafe for the Clam Bake (yum!)

Our second trip was last January, and we stayed in the Contemporary. LOVE that resort! Huge rooms, and can't beat the convenience. It was cold and somewhat rainy while we were there, but that didn't stop us (although I couldn't bring myself to use the hot tubs). We did e ticket night at MK, slowly and thoroughly enjoyed AK. Rode ToT and RnR over and over, drank our way around the World Showcase, ate at Narcoosees for the 1st time (I highly recommend doing this right as the sun is setting! The view of the MK is breathtaking), stopped at the coffee bar every morning on the way to the parks, rode the monorail, just for the heck of it. Drove over to Celebration to see what was there. Of course, we ate at Cape May again... can't go to WDW and not eat there! Discovered other restaurants that DD wouldn't be interested in, such as Tempura Kiku, and Le Cellier.

We played, ate, and drank, and had a wonderful time. We look forward to doing it again soon!

Yikes! I'm jealous. We've been married 16 years and we've never been anywhere without the kids. I feel the need!

My husband and I went without our 3 last May -- people couldn't believe we were going without them! But, (at least for us), it was a totally different trip. We were able to do the stuff that we never did when we went as a family. Our main objective was to really explore Epcot. We took our time and went thru every attraction and shop in every country -- our two younger kids (ages 2 and 6) do not count Epcot as their favorites, so we had never completely experienced it. We totally skipped the "younger" rides at MK (Pooh, IASW, Dumbo, etc.) and tried Alien for the first time! For us, it was a time to do exactly what we had always wanted to do but had never gotten the chance!
Have fun!:bounce:

We took our first trip without the kids in 7 years last summer. Unfortunately, it was only 1 day in WDW, but then a cruise. Some things I would make sure to do(and did) would be to spend a night at Jellyrolls on the Boardwalk, spend an afternoon at your resort pool(ours was the Poly), sipping frozen drinks, and having a relaxing dinner at your favorite restaurant(for me, it was the Kona Cafe). We wanted to do the stuff we can never do with the kids.
Enjoy!!!

Hi, DH and I are also going on our first trip w/o kids. We are planning on doing atleast 1 tour(keys to the kingdom) because we can't do that with kids. Eating at nice restruants, sleeping until 9am:eek: , walking around the WS drinking a strawberry dacquri(sp?), going to pleasure island, and maybe going to Celebration for dinner and a look around, and just relaxing this will be our first vacation/time spent away from the kids since we were married.
Have fun.

Thank you so much for all of your wonderful suggestions! I can't wait! And I am ssssoooo looking forward to relaxing! Looks like Jellyrolls and California Grill are top on the list! Thanks so much for the suggestions.

Thanks for all the tips for a kidless Disney trip as hubby and I are leaving our girls for 5 wonderful days at the end of the month, our first alone vacation in 5 years and we'll be celebrating our 5th anniversay. I have a question, I've seen Jellyrolls on the boardwalk but always had the kids with us. Does it cost anything to get into Jellyrolls????

This is funny. Hubby and I are planning our first with Kid trip for Jan 2004.

We are expecting our first child in June and of course need to take this little one to WDW.

Have a wonderful trip and play some of the days by ear. Rent a boat, have a late breakfast, get a massage, eat somewhere new, walk a little slower, relax.

well Congrats on your new bundle of Joy! How amazing it will be for you to experience Disney in a whole new way! There's nothing better than seeing Disney through the eyes of your child :)

Yes, there is a cover charge. I forget how much but I know it wasnt much. I want to say maybe $5.00 per person.

Don't forget the dinner shows. Hoop-Dee-Do and the Luau are very good. We set aside a day just to resort hop. Its a great time to go..smjj

Hi There~

Here are some of the things that DH adn I like to do when we go down to WDW:

*Dinner at 'Ohanas during fireworks (I usually get there early and request a window seat). They pump the music in and dim the lights - very romantic!

*Evening stroll along the beach at Poly or GF during the parade of boats (can't remember the official name). You can stop at one of the many covered beach seats and cuddle.

*Kissing Around the World: Got this from a posrt moons ago and tried it out - get a picture of you kissing in front of each country at Epcot. It makes for a great scrapbook piece!

*If staying at Port Orleans: Boat ride at sunset to DD.

*Sit and cuddle on a bench at Epcot after Illuminations. Everyone is scurrying to get out, but we just sit there and enjoy people watching under the stars.

*If staying at CBR: Nothing like a evening "nap" in a hammock under the stars.

*The courtyard in UK is a very romantic spot in the evening. Sometimes the British Invasion is playing (Beatles covers) and at other times, it is just quiet and peaceful.

Those are a few of our favorites - I hope that they are useful!!

Have Fun!

Don't forget Pleasure Island. You can have a great time there, get a little toasted and not even have to worry about driving. Just let a bus take you back to your resort.....if you can remember which one it is...lol
No really, there are alot of great clubs...for every taste , jazz, 80's, comedy, top 40, hip hop etc.

Okay for those of you wiht kids older than say 4--What do you tell your kids about where you are going? We are hoping to be able to do a trip in May, but my 6 yo is gonna be appalled that we would go without her!

Really enjoyed reading all of these suggestions.
Want to do a lot of them.

Do the rest of you have people look at you funny when you say you are going to WDW without kids?
Some people cannot believe that is where we want to go on a trip alone!
Others are horrified that we would consider leaving our kids at home.
;) I just told them I would bring them a great present and they were fine:D

Can't wait to go!

Well, if they are older than 4- they are probably atleast in kindergarten or higher grades! So there goes that- they gotta go to school! hehe That's all it took with my children. I told them they couldn't go because they'd miss school and that I'd bring them souvieners. Ofcourse my brilliant observant children then asked if my youngest would be going- since ofcourse she's not in school! HAHAHA So I had to do a little bit more explaining on that one- about how if she went I couldn't ride any rides "remember how me and dad had to take turns riding rides because Rita couldn't ride? Well if I took her alone- who would I take turns with? No one! I couldn't ride hardly any rides or do things that babies can't do". That was enough for them. :)
Hope you have a great time!
