1st trip to WDW and we will have an EVC

We are getting ready for our 1st to Disney World and due to having ankle surgery I doubt I will be able to do all the walking and so I am looking into renting an ECV. I have no idea where to even start to figure out how to plan for parking and everything else that goes along with it. Can anyone give me any tips? I have read that for our ADRs at different resorts we will get valet parking. But when it comes to the parks I am at a loss. Can EVCs go onto the monorail and boats?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the disABILITIES Forum! Sorry to hear you've had surgery and won't be fully recovered for vacation, but I think you are smart to consider using an ECV.

Do you have a state-issued handicapped parking tag -- either the permanent plate or temporary hang-tag? You will need that to park in any h/c designated spaces. Parking lots are patrolled and tickets may be issued for violations, and I think it's a $250 fine. At the parks, if you do not have the tag, inform the parking attendants that you have an ECV but not a handicapped tag and they will try to get you as close as possible. I also believe the free valet parking at resorts applies if you have a tag; if not you may certainly opt to pay for valet, or be dropped at the entrance while another member of your party parks the vehicle.

ECVs are allowed on most modes of WDW transportation -- buses, monorails and some boats. The large ferry from TTC to MK is accessible, as are the larger "cruisers," but not the smaller "launches." The ECV cannot go on the parking lot trams.

I am fortunate enough that my doctor provided me with a temporary tag. I have to little ones so just the idea of parking lots and them was nightmare.
Both days we are going to MK we have ADRs at 1900 and at Ohana. So I am hoping they will just let us leave the van there for the day. Does anyone know if they will allow this? That way we will not have to worry about TTC.
