Going to OKW for the first time March 7-14. What is the resort like? How crowded will Disney be? and should we really expect cold and rainy weather?

Hi!

We're coming in to Old Key West on March 11th. We've never vacationed in March before so I too would be interested in comments on the weather. I figure it's gotta be better than Indiana:-)

Dear Little Star,

I know! The weather in Florida is going to be much better than the weather in New Jersey! It was 15 degrees here this morning! I'm happy that I'm going to WDW, so I'll take my chances on the weather and pack a little bit of everything. Do you know that OKW is like? We've never stayed there before. Any tips?

Thanks,
Disneychic

Weather nice, but I'll bet crowds could be there, too. It's Spring Break in many places . In Oklahoma Spring Break starts on the 15th. So, I wouldn't expect it to be empty!

March can be hard to predict! We have been there at different times and the weather is unpredictable! March 2000 it was 78+ and only one "cool" day. March 2001 we only had one good swimming day. It was a little rainy and chilly. Glad we brought pants and sweatshirts. THis year we will be down 3/13-3/21 and are hoping for heat!!! This Michigan cold is getting really old and I am ready for WDW!!!!! A few days before you go, check weather.com and they give a 10 day forecast (for zip code 32830) so maybe that can help you pack!! I will be eyeing that site as our time dwindles.

34 days and counting.....

We visit WDW from Texas during Spring Break almost every year, we're not going this year though :(, we went during our fall break in October. Early March weather in FL can be very unpredictable. We have experienced temps in the 40-50's that time of year. So do check the long range forecast before you leave, we have had to purchase many a sweatshirt during that time of year because we were unprepared. You will not experience the heavy spring break crowds that early in March. However, it is not considered a light crowd time, because most schools in Texas and throughout the south take early spring break, but the later you get into March and April are when the crowds really pick up.

Hi.

This is our first time to go to Old Key West also, so I'm wondering the same things you are. I found some great pictures of Old Key West at ourlaughingplace.com and also at Deb Will's sight at wdwig.com under her resort pictures.

I can't wait. I hope the weather is nice.

Our college age daughter is on spring break that week, so she's going with us for part of the trip. Our high school daughter will be there with her school for Showstoppers at Epcot (show choir competition). Her high school spring break is a couple of weeks after we get back from this trip (closer to Easter). I figure the crowds will be worse toward the end of March.
