We are excited about our first trip to HHI next week. It seems that in reading old posts there are lots of activities which are only "in season" and also geared towards smaller children.

On one hand, we will definitely enjoy just "hanging out" since our family (like many) tends to go go go and not get enough time to spend together relaxing. We like to bike ride, and even walking on the beach is fun. I understand the pools are heated (please be well-heated if it is cooler!) so we can swim. Not big shoppers, but we like to eat. We definitely plan to do at least one tour through the resort to see dolphins.

Any suggestions, particular on-site (or otherwise) activities which a pre-teen ("I'm practically a teenager!") would enjoy? Less expensive, but good, meals nearby? If we have any sort of choice, is there a better view/location to request?

Thank you for any insider info.

There are quite a few programs that run year around - nature hikes, crabbing, Kid's Nite Out (they one for teens and another for younger children), movies, treasure hunts, Gyutaku (fish painting :) ) as well as the usual family events like magic shows, campfires and ghost stories.

I'm sure your pre-teen will find plenty to enjoy and because HH is a great family destination, there are likely to be others in the same age group.

Have a great trip! :)

There will be plenty of activities to choose from- your pre-teen will love it- the Kids night out is a big favorite with my 3 kids, they have pizza in the community room then take the shuttle to the movie theater with some castmembers. The kayaking and dolphin tour are great- As far as eating out, we happen to like the Mexican restaurant across the bridge in Shelter Cove, a nice walk over too. Inside and outside dining, good food. We've also been to the Outback Steakhouse which was great and I hear a Carrabbas has opened on the island. There are lots of places, do a search here on the boards and I'm sure you'll come up with a lot of ideas- have a great time! It's truly an incredibley relaxing vacation.:goodvibes

I am aware of a pool table -- does HHI have a Community Hall like OKW and BWV? Are there basketballs and hoops on the grounds?
