Day 1 23rd october 2007
Up at 3am. DH, who was feeling under the weather yesterday is still no better. He's got the dreaded 'MAN FLU' But he does his best to put a brave face on it. Short drive around to DBs house and they are all ready and waiting for us. Swap cars and we are on our way :drive: to East Mids airport for our 06:40am BMI Baby flight to CDG. YIPPPPEEEEE:banana:
Arive at the airport and get checked in with no probs. The flight is really quick and DN, who has only ever flown to florida before is amazed when she realises we are coming into land after only 50 mins. (This has to be one major advantage over flying to US)
We have cleared customs and have collected our luggage in record time and are still on schedule to catch the 10:28 TGV as we had planned. Go by the little air train to the tgv station, where a kind lady helps us buy our ticket from the machine and then its downstairs to await the arrival of the longest train i have ever seen!! We find our seats and are just marvelling at the smoothness of the ride when DB spots space mountain on our right- we are here:yay: :yay: :yay:
We make our way out of the station and less than 3 hours after we left the airport we are at the gates.
As we are staying off site and check in is not until late afternoon we are going to leave our bags at the left luggage. Must admit we were really pleased the security man didn't rumage too much in our bags. We walked down to the Disneyland hotel and long to be stopping there. A really friendly CM, took us down to the left luggage office. When we explained we were buying annual passports he booked us in, to the left luggage as his guests and we did not have to pay, even though we had not purchased our passes yet :)
After leaving the bags and purchasing our temp passes, we entered through the side gates and onto the bottom of Main St. WOW!!! The sky was perfect blue with not a cloud to be seen, (this did mean it was freezing cold) and the castle looked truly amazing. Suddenly even DH who was still feeling very ill had a smile on his face. We quickly got our annual passes made up, (thanks for the sponsorship Reid) and set about discovering the park.
Now at this point I would like to say that having visited the american parks, and having heard such mixed reviews about Paris we were all a little apprehensive as to what to expect. But on first impressions we were all very very happy.
So first of all it was up into fantasy land to IASW. DN loves this ride and could not wait to take DH on it- it is his least favourite disney ride-ever. We walked straight onto this with no queue. After this we did most of Fantasy land before stopping for lunch at Au Chalet de la Marionnette. We had burgers, the half a chicken and chicken nuggetts and although the food was ok the service was very slow. Must say on first looking at prices we thought the price was good, until we remembered we couldn't just half the cost like in the US. OOPPPPS:rotfl: Glad of the 10% annual pass discount.
After lunch we had a look around 'Halloweenland' and was very impressed with the effort that had gone into making this area special. We wanted to do BTM but queues were up to 60mins with no fast passes left, so we into Phantom Manor. Must say we all enjoyed this ride except DB. DH managed to reach out of his doom buggey and rub his gloves over DBs face with out him knowing where it had come from:scared: :scared: :scared:
After PM we took the railroad around to main street as we were planning on leaving the park to go and check in as it was now 3:30pm
We were staying at Pierre & Vacances City Val d'Europe so went to the RER station. We travelled for less than 2 minutes on the train and came out outside the shopping centre. It took about 10mins to walk throught the shopping centre and the hotel is opposite. The room was clean and plenty big enough, it even has a small kitchenette area. There was a bedroom with a double bed, another bedroom with bunk beds and a double sofa bed and single sofa in the lounge. There was also 2 bathrooms, but only one toilet. It was more than adequate for what we wanted as we were only planning on sleeping here. There is a swimming pool, but that had been drained for winter and the hotel runs a free shuttle bus which only takes 5 mins to the village and only stopped at one other hotel around the corner.
We decided to head back to the park for the evening. It was really quiet when we got back in around 17:45 and we were able to walk straight onto most of the rides in fantasy land. However we had been up for a long time, it was really cold, despite having hats and gloves on and we had not had any tea. After riding Peter pans flight DH took a turn for the worse and threw up, so we decided to go back to the hotel. Took DH straight to bed while the others went to the Auchtion hypermarket to get us something to eat. 20 mins after they got back DSiL also started to be sick:sick: ... Oh No we could not believe what was happening. We had been planning this trip for months. So in the end we were all in bed for 20:30. Not quite what we had expected!!!!!:sad1:

Oh no I hope nobody else got sick, and that your DH and DSIL felt much better the next morning :) . Bitter cold eh? We are leaving on Wendsday :yay: and I'm just beginning to realize how cold it will probably be! Still, can't wait :goodvibes! ! Glad to hear you guys were able to get the TGV straight away...we have to take the bus which takes ages when you want to get there already! Hotel sounds good, CM's sound really sweet! Looking forward to part 2 ::yes::!

What a great start and a lousy way to finish :goodvibes
Hope the others are feeling better tomorrow :grouphug:

Oh dear, your poor DH and DSIL, hope they are both better tomorrow. :)

Sounded so good until everyone got poorly - hope they are OK now.

We hadn't thought of flying to DLP - would you recommend it (we only live 30 mins from EMA so it would be really handy). What sort of prices are there to fly ?

We booked our flights quite early, as the price goes up as more seats are taken. For the 5 seats, (no discount for children), we paid £344, which made it £68 each, which we thought was really good for a return flight.

Yes that is very good ! Were the flight times OK ? Certainly would be much easier than driving !!

Been looking on BMI baby and no flights listed yet for April (when we go)

Any ideas when they start listing these ?
