Hi all,
This is my first post and this will be our first trip to Disney. We are so excited and scared because I don't want to make a mistake in booking this trip. I was on the Disney site and do I want to book everything seperate, like the room, tickets and so forth, or do I go for their package plan? we are going to book at the Poly and I keep hearing you guys talk about discounts coming out and I was wondering if I should book everything seperate or what? as you can see, I know nothing about this. Please help. We're going November 6-12th if that will help in knowing. We also would like to do the character breakfasts and hubby would like to do the fishing excursion. Any help would be so appreciated.... :sunny:
Thank you all in advance,
Chris

Welcome to the DIS Chris!!! :disrocks:

You definitely want to do some research before you jump in and book anything. Do lots of reading here on the resorts board, and also check out www.allearsnet.com and www.mousesavers.com to learn more about getting the best deal. :)

Right now for November you're not going to find any discount codes. So you might want to go ahead and book a room at rack rate, put down your deposit, and then worry about discounts later. That way you know you have a room. As far as packages go I would not book one off disney.com because they aren't at a discounted rate. If I were you I'd just book a room only right now, then wait and see what happens later this summer with discounts. These My Way packages are new to everyone, so we aren't really sure what types of codes or discounts we'll be seeing this year. But you definitely came to the right place for info. :)

If you really want to get the best deal, and are feeling overwhelmed with all the info, I would highly recommend contacting one of the Disney travel agents at Dreams Unlimited Travel! :)

Erika covered everything I would've said.

Just wanted to say Welcome to the DIS!!

Hi and Welcome!! Erika said it all. We got a package on our first trip simply becaues we didn't know any better. You are already a step ahead since you have found these boards early in your planning. Book your room now. Wait to see what discount codes come out. You can wait until the last minute to decide what type of park pass you'll need. You can wait until just before you go to do that. At the 90 day mark you can start making those all important Priority Seatings (PSs). The character meals are a hoot and we always do a couple when we go. Same goes for the fishing trip. I have a friend who does one each time and loves it.

Most importantly....have fun planning. You are going at a great time of year. One of my favorite times to visit. Relax and enjoy yourself. Keep checking in here for up to the minute info.

Definately (sp?) make sure to talk to an agent who does Disney. (there is a lot of them out there) One thing that is in your favor is that you will be going in value season, so the chances of there being discounts out there is very good. You could book the room now, and have the discounts applied to the reservation when they come out, but I would'nt worry too much. Just remember that planning a Disney vacation is a lot of fun! :flower: I hope you guys have a great trip. :wave2:

actually, i don't think it is value season anymore - i think november has switched to regular season.....i'm pretty sure we will see discounts coming out in August (I have a Nov 12-20 trip planned!). another suggestion that I have is to get a couple of guidebooks - i don't know if there are any published yet with the new "Magic Your Way" ticket info, but at least it would be a good start for looking at the different resorts. I like the "Unofficial Guide"....
