Finally, our 1st trip home - all that we expected & more...so glad we took the plunge!

Initially assigned a ground floor room, requested to be higher & received the last room on the 3rd floor - could see the lake through the trees. We joked that the view down the hall looking toward our studio reminded us of the hotel in The Shining.

A true joy to come back to such a relaxing & peaceful respite from the park's bustle. Impressed by the grandeur of the common areas. Our studio, although not luxurious, was certainly adequate and in excellent condition...can't beat having the morning cup of coffee on the balcony. Loved the boat transportation, one was always there when we needed it.

Only a few minor flaws in an otherwise picture perfect stay:

*Check in @ 3:00 p.m. took over 1 hour (long line, inexperienced check in & concierge staff).

*Bus service took "forever", stopping @ Ft. Wilderness - always sat @ their bus stop waiting for an additional person in someone's party to arrive (must be a variation on saving seats?)

*Roaring Forks is dismal and is put to shame by the AS's food courts, hope the rennovation is an improvement.

Lastly, we loved our 1st DCL experience too (except for the credit card incident in Nassau when we found out that someone had charged $1.11 for needle & thread in PA the day we boarded the cruise - then tried to charge over $1,600 for jewelry in Isabella, Spain!!!) Good thing we took a back-up CC.

Can't wait to experience the BWV in June; you all were right - doing WDW the DVC way is magical.

Aside from the few problems-glad you enjoyed your trip! The morning cup of coffee on a balcony is priceless! I say that as I am having my coffee right now indoors with snow falling outside.... :wave2:

I'm glad you loved the VWL experience. We've had bogus CC charges happen in the past, I'm glad it didn't spoil your vacation!

Not only did the trip exceed my very high expectations but, more importantly, my DH who basically was indulging me on my "DVC whim" is now a true convert & their number one fan!:cool1:

Suddenly, he's much more interested in my trip planning & is asking when we're going on the next cruise (and can we stay longer?)LOL If fortune is with me, I smell a potential add-on.

Good for you!!! In spite of our recent add on (s) (true they were each only 25 points) DH still asks me about current resale availability. I can't believe that I'm the one who is holding the line on this, NO MORE LOOKING (for awhile at least.)

Apparently, the DVC bug is rampantly contagious when directly exposed.:)

I'm so happy to hear your trip was wonderful and that your husband is a total convert. This is just the beginning of many "magical" vacations!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS,
Tom :sunny:

Glad you enjoyed VWL! We can't wait to go back there in May next year. It's our favorite resort!

no truer words..... :rotfl:

we head to VWL soon, i can't wait.

and oh ya, welcome home!

VWL is my home resort, so I'm always happy to hear good things about it, especially because I haven't stayed there yet. I do have my first stay at VWL booked, though: a one-bedroom unit for six nights arriving on Oct. 22, 2006. (In March, I'm hoping to book two nights at VB for right before the VWL stay.)

Keisha,

I have a few questions for you, or anyone else who wishes to answer :teeth:

How far is the boat dock from the villas-minute-wise- walking? How long does the boatride take?

Is the self-parking lot far from the villa section?

How was the sofa bed, is it the newer kind or older one?

We are staying there for the first time this coming January, and I'm trying to find out more "personal" information. As we're only going to be there for a few days, and we'll be spending the bulk of our time in MK, we decided to try it out next.

Thanks for your help,

Pam

Considering that we were in one of the most distant rooms, I would say that a leisurely stroll to the boat dock took less than 10 minutes (but you could certainly do it in less).

Must admit, I never say the self-parking lot...had too much fun using valet service;) .

First time for us, can't compare the sofa bed. It was a regular, pull-out type you'd see @ Grandma's house. My DS didn't complain of any discomfort (trust me, if there was a problem he'd have let me know).

Personally, I was fascinated with how the lake flows over the road...thought it was a nice transition from the lodge to MK and vice-a-versa; good opportunity for personal reflection. That said, with the exception of the one time we stopped @ Ft. Wild. before the MK, I'd guess the trip was less than 15 min.

One additional comment I neglected to mention before. Our studio was near rooms with several crying babies. I'm a light sleeper and thought I'd have a miserable night but, once we shut our door - we couldn't hear a thing.:)

Thanks so much for those answers, I forgot to ask one thing: Can you roll an umbrella stroller onto the boat to the MK or does it have to be folded up?

Glad you enjoyed your trip. Can't wait for ours.

I noticed that some people had them open (with a child in them) and some had folded them up.

We actually had my DS in a transport WC. He fractured his foot and had a complication where a bone in the growth plate died. Just recently out of a cast & into an orthotic, he was limited this trip as to distance he could walk (hope he's back up to speed for next trip in June). We very easily manuvered it onto the boat ( even though it was crowded @ times) and folded it up. Additionally, the resort walkways were sloped so that we could comfortably wheel him around.

Good Luck on your upcoming trip - enjoy the magic.
