I'm in the process of writing a trip report, but wanted to add my two cents to what others have posted about SSR so far. We were there 8/9 to 8/12. We stayed in the eastern most building of Congress Park, in room 1203, a one bedroom, second floor, almost as far east on the property as you can be. The bus stop was located mid way between the four completed buildings. We used the bus service the entire trip, and didn't have any problems. Lots of times, we had our own "stretch limo". Coming home from EPCOT was the only time it was crowded, but that's the park where OKW and SSR share a bus, and most of the passengers were from OKW.
As everyone has said, the grounds are lovely. The construction was there, but it's not distracting, actually it was cool to see the buildings in the different state of completion. Having never stayed at a DVC property before, the idea of the outside walkways didn't bother us. It felt, to us anyways, like you were at your own apartment (and the fact there was a water view from most of the units was a plus for us). Didn't hear much from Downtown Disney. The fireworks did wake me up the first night (but I'm a light sleeper) but no one else heard them. We watched them the second night, and the third night, we were at E-Night at MK.

My younger daughter has the misforture of being born with short legs in a family where the rest of us are 5'8" or taller, so walking with her is very slow. Every day, at some point, we walked to Carriage House, and even with "Little Legs" the trip took 10 minutes, tops. Having stayed at moderate resorts for all but one trip, we didn't find the resort to be any more spread out than say, CBR, or CSR. We used the walk way to DTD a couple of times, and that too, even with "Little Legs" was about 10 to 12 minutes too.

Artist's Palette didn't appeal to us, so we didn't get anything from there. The store had some neat stuff stocked for DVC and SSR (even got to buy the new member pin, and the opening SSR pin).

Any questions, I'll be glad to answer.

Pat

Glad to see you beat Charley home!

I really liked SSR too.

Thanks for the report Pat! I'm glad that you were able to get out before Charley.

Happy to hear another good report on my 'home.'

Anne1125, Yes we did check out the pool! The slide was fun. We were almost the last unit east that is open right now (the sudio next to us had the distinction of being the farthest away unit!). Our walk was, like I said, 10 minutes, tops! (and that's at a leisurely stroll). By the time I was able to get into the pool (you'll have to read my trip report to see what my hold up was!), the pool had maybe 10 people in it.
