We have been back for almost a week and I thought that I should go ahead and start our trip report, before I get lazy and become a slacker...
Our cast - DH and I along with our DD, SIL and SWEET DGS who turned 2, this trip was all about him. We had a wonderful time... truly magical
So away we go...
DH and I checked in at POR, a little before 4:00, We did have some difficulty getting checked in, when they updated the Reservation system, it caused some issue's with our magic bands as I got 3 set of MB's, credit cards which took 2 trips to get settled. We were granted all our request, building 38, 1st floor, rooms with the door in between (adjoining?) So we were super excited.
DD and family arrived around 5:00 only problem with check in was CC, and again DH had to go over to help straighten out the issue. As our CC was attached to their room. Then we helped them get all the stuff in the room, and set up DGS pack and play, as we knew it would late when we returned.
Off to our 1st ADR of the trip. We took the boat to DS and headed for T-REX, I requested a booth, and we were seated in the ice room, DGS loved it. We are Landry's members so I am not sure if that helped with the request or not.
For our appetizers we ended up with 2 orders Trixie's Fried cheese, Artifact Stack aka Onion Rings, Dexter's dual dip with Chips, Overall the appetizers were good, and plentiful. I personally did not care for the dual dip, I thought it was really spicy. I have had it before and it was no way that hot, now my SIL really liked it, he loves spicy food.
Entrée course - We all ordered off the current special menu, DH entrée had Steak and sashimi, with potatoes and broccoli. He said it was really good, I did taste the sashimi it was very well prepared. DD's meal had tempura shrimp and pasta, and veggies , SIL went with the bone yard, I think it was ribs and chicken, and some sides, DGS mac and cheese, broccoli and apple juice, but when we asked him what he wanted he said "PHish Sticks", he loves fish sticks, fried fish as long as it looks like a fish stick he is up for it.. For Me I went with the Salmon, and broccoli, it was a large portion, one of the filets of salmon was really over done, but the other was perfect.
Dessert we shared that huge chocolate dessert... Chocolate extinction I think that's what its called.. Yummy all the way around...
Service - We liked our server, but he did disappear for a while during trying to cash us out, there was a issue with the cocktail bill and the Landry's card, and charging it to the room, which once the manager came out to say Hi she took care of everything right away.. But up until that point he was on point.. But it really wasn't to big of a deal.
I will say that T-REX is not a in and out place, so sit back and enjoy the Dino's. Yes its loud and might be something to look at and take into consideration if you have children that have any type of sound triggers.
After heading to see the lego Hulk we called it a night and used the bus to return to our resort.
Overall for our 1st night it was a wonderful time.
