We are planning to vist in December. Any tips on the best things for boys of this age 11 and 14? Time of day to visit the parks? Which parks are best? I am feeling very overwhelmed by Disneyworld. Help!

Hi Lilja!
I cannot help you right now. I am heading to DW for my first time in 10 days. I have 2 boys, 13 & 16 an dI am wondering the same as you are. I have a tentative itinerary of what I believe they will enjoy, based on my search of this board. I would love to give you feedback when I return and let you know what is YAY and what is NAY.

I don't know if this will be much help or not. My ds is 13, and he is a big thrill seeker, so it will depend on whether your boys like thrill seeking rides or not. My ds favourite rides are, tower of terror, rock 'n' roll roller coaster, soaring, everest & the haunted mansion to name a few. A good book that may help you out alot is Fordor's Walt Disney World with Kids. It is published annually and the author is Kim Wright Wiley. I have both the 2007 & 2008 versions and it is a great resource for planning a Disney Vacation. If you can get to a book store I really recommend getting it. It will put your mind at ease and answer just about every question you have.

Those are 2 great website for information.

The best print tour book is the Unofficial Guide to WDW. Check it out at your local library if you don't want to buy.

As for time of day you should be there at park opening if you are riding the headliners. And make use of the Fast Pass system.

Also check out www.tourguidemike. It's worth the money. If you check the link from the Disboards you do get a discount.

I second the tour guide mike suggestion- i bought one of the books for kids and it was too young for my 9 year old

disneyquest is something you may want to add to your plans ,my grandsons are around the same age and they really loved it there! So much so that this coming December trip they want to go at least twice, also they did a fishing trip from the polynesian and enjoyed that to.No matter what you do they are gonna love it !

I have a 14yo who loves going - his fav things to do are the headliners and the water parks. He wasn't too fond of Disney Quest but then he's not a big video game kinda kid. He also loves going to the restaurants but then he's a teenage toothpick and wow can he eat!!
He also likes the days that we just hang around the resort pool!

Hi I went last year with my DS, who was 11 at the time. We did some of the thrill rides. He liked Tower of Terror, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Thunder MOuntain, and our favourite was Soarin. Did that three times in a row.  We are hoping to do Dinosaur next trip and RRC and maybe Expedition Everest. :scared1:

We never made it to Disney Quest but will on the next trip. My son is on the Yugio bandwagon and therefore we spent a lot of time at Japan in Epcot, so he could look for cards, while I picked many pearls.

He also enjoyed Fantasmic, Illuminations at Epcot, and watching Wishes. He aslo had his haircut at MK and had a blue fauxhawk with mickey pixie dust. :thumbsup2 He thought that was really cool.

So hope you have fun, I am sure there will be lots for them to enjoy. :goodvibes
