This October will be the very 1st trip for DD3 & DS4 and I keep trying to picture the looks on their faces as the castle starts to come into view. We will staying at All Star Sports so we will have Disneys transportation system to use at our leisure. My question is: If we hop on the bus at the resort to go to MK where does it drop us off? We (me & DH) have always stayed offsite so when we got there we took the ferry or monorail over to MK and had that anticpation building up as it got closer & closer. I would love for them to have the same experience - of standing in the monorail window looking out or standing at the railing on the ferry as you cross over. I keep thinking the bus brings us closer so maybe not as magical??? We will have a car so we could drive over vs. the bus system.

Also we have an 8:10AM Adr so are the ferry/monorail running early enough to make this even possible???

The busses drop you off at the just to the right of the main gate of Magic Kingdom. Also to the right of the Boat Launches. I think the busses are just as magical. Reason being, you really cant see stuff that great from the bus area and when when you walk up to the security and to the gates its kind of hidden. Id have the camera's rolling when they walk underneath the railroad station onto Main Street USA.

Good luck

Disney buses to the theme parks start about one hour prior to that park's opening. They also provide early morning buses for people eating at the various breakfasts or taking early tours. Plan to be at your resort bus stop about 45 minutes before your dining reservation. This will give you plenty of time in case you just miss a bus.
I agree with the previous poster that your children should be very surprised as all of you emerge from under the train tunnel onto Main Street. It is such a special feeling seeing the castle in front of you.
If you do drive you will need to park at the TTC and then boat or monorail over to the MK. It's faster and easier with Disney buses, but if you want your children to see the castle coming into view you can drive to the TTC.
You might want to take an earlier bus and hop on the monorail. Just take it all round the MK resorts loop and then exit at the MK for your breakfast. This will give your children a great feel for not only the MK but the whole area.

I like this idea...I really wanted them to experience the monorail on their 1st day as this is also 1 of those things I feel I have to experience for it to hit home that we're really there!!!!!! It's in my head that a bus ride just isn't that exciting but I'm sure it will be for them.

We recently got back from our first trip with our two youngest DD's. For the experience you are looking for I would agree with the previous poster. Either drive or take a bus to the TTC, then hop on the monorail. We did it both ways, and although you can actually see the top of the castle and Space Mountain from the bus, the views from the monorail are much better. Again, it's just quicker and easier with the buses.

I don't believe that any Disney buses will take you to the TTC any more. The only way to get there is to drive.

You could always take the resort bus to Epcot and catch the monorail to the TTC. You don't have to enter the park and that way you could catch the resort bus back when you leave Magic Kingdom. Gives you the opportunity for a peek at Spaceship Earth with the giant Mickey hand and a longer monorail ride too!

I would drive to the TTC if you want to take the monorail to the MK. It would take less time than taking a bus, and then getting on the monorail. You would also ruin the first surprise look at the castle.

i would remomend the bus over the boat though because if it starts to rain well you will probaly get wet all buses drop you off at the front of all parks and if you take the boat and you miss dont worry about just take the bus me and my family went to the Contmpary to eat and then had no way back to the hotel since boat service ended and were staying at the Wilderness and ended up walking to the Magic Kingdom for a bus
