Well not really 1st timers but we haven't been since 1999 8-) well before IoA universal hotels etc... We are going at the end of July and I'm looking for any advice.
We are planning on staying at RPH. We will be a family of 9 including a 10 week old and a 2 year old.

It is going to be vacation-on-the-sun hot , you are going to need to take breaks alot , especially with a 10 week old. and it is going to be CROWDED ..very crowded. This summer will have the opening of the Harry Potter expansion at the studios, this will drive up the summer crowds even more than usual..Not sure how it will change park dynamics as of yet, but my guess is the 2 Harry Potter areas are where the most of the people will be.Staying onsite will help because you will have early entry and express pass( which you can not use for the current Harry Potter ride or Ollivanders and unlikely the new rides will have it either).

Excellent advice :thumbsup2

Especially about taking breaks with the littlies....we went last July and it was BUSY!!!

As been said the new phase of HP will be open by then, so I wouldn`t like to imagine how busy it will be. Having EE and EP will help with most things.

But with staying onsite you will be able to wander back to the hotel for breaks, spend some time in the pool and go back later in the day. The hotel is beautiful, I`m sure you`ll love it and how close it is to the parks is a godsend on any day.

Definitely take breaks and stay out of the parks in the middle of the day. Go back to the pool and have fun there in the middle of the day when it is hottest then go back at night. Also drink a lot of water. We had a scare one summer as DH didn't drink enough and was severely dehydrated. From that time on I carry a water bottle with me into the parks when we are there. :)

Definitely take breaks and drink lots of water....that said, depending on where you're from may affect your heat tolerance. We're originally from East Texas and went last August and it was hot but not unbearable to us. Just remember to relax and have fun...and did I mention Relax ;)
