My mom had knee replacement surgery not long ago and although she can walk short distances, she would never be able to make it through any of the parks. We are looking at renting her a scooter. My question is, can she park it somewhere while she gets on the rides? She doesn't need to use the scooter at all times, so let's say we are in the circus area, could she park it somewhere and walk around a bit? Also any opinion on going with the Apple Scooter rental company?

Absolutely, an ECV can be parked usually where the strollers are parked if she wishes to walk some.

Check the FAQ sticky at the top of this forum for information about rental companies and DIS member feedback. Apple is a popular one, though I can't give direct feedback myself.

Enjoy your vacation!

DH just rented a scooter from Apple Scooters this trip. Great service with this company. Parking the scooter was easy as previous poster said parking with strollers. I went and bought a plastic shower curtain liner for it incase of rain but ended up throwing a poncho over it when we went on rides.

I'm a fan of Apple. We rented there many times.

If you park the scooter for a while just make sure you have it in a safe area. For example, if you are parking it in a parade route and you are gone at that time a CM could do a manual override and move the scooter. Sometimes, the scooter can be hard to find after something like this. If you use good common sense there will not be a problem. Make sure you take the key with you.

Hi! I am going next week to WDW for 9 days and rented a manual scooter to have in case I get tired ( I have a chronic illness and cannot walk very long). Aside from the other advice members have given I would advise that you maybe have something on the scooter to make it stand out so that you can find it easier. For mine I am tying a mini sign to it and bow so that someone won't accidentally grab ours. Also bring a poncho or liner to cover the seat so she doesn't get wet butt.

I truly wish I didn't have to use the wheelchair, and like your mother I only need it sporadically. But it will make it SO much easier to get around.
