Hi! i have been trying to have someone book a 3 nights reservations for me for October -- everyone i have conversed with has been very helpful with info - even though i have not yet confirmed reservations for all three days yet. i am even thinking of looking into the vacations club when i get to disney. The QUESTION i have is DCM's talk about booking 11 months out. i understand that this gives them a preference 11 months ahead of time, i understand that everyones 11 months may start in a different month -- do you feel you ever have a problem getting a room you want for the dates you want if you book at that 11 month period. I guess that means you need to buy points in a particular month that would be the month before you would generally travel. in the past we have always traveled to Disney in an off time. ---never spring break, winter break or summer months-- so, would it matter what the start date was for the points purchased? also, if i buy a resale is there a minimum amount of points you can buy? and does anyone split the points they sell -- I see some people own 400 and 600 points do they ever split them or can they? thanks for any answers. Linda

Use Year and when you book have nothing to do with each other.

Everyone can book at their home resort beginning 11 months from whenever the check-out date would be. If I want to travel in May, I can book as early as June the previous year. If I want to travel in December, I can book in January for that upcoming December. At 7 months out, I can book at any of the DVC resorts, even if I don't own points at that particular resort.

If you have a regular time to travel, a Use Year can be picked that will give you more flexibility on the occasions you have to cancel at the last minute. This is the only time Use Year can matter.

If a person bought a large contract, it can't be split. If they own several smaller contracts, they can be sold individually.

Pam took care of most of your questions. I will add that there is a 150 point minimum when you buy drom Disney. Disney is now selliing BCV, SSR and maybe they have some BWV for sale. Most resorts can be bought on the resale market except SSR.
You would have no porblem booking at the 11 month window(only availavle at your home resort). If you travel at off times as you indicate, you would not have much problem at the 7 month window at other non-home resorts. We own at OKW but recently booked at BWV for 5 nights in February. If you are very flexible, reservations are pretty easy to get at fairly short notice. Some of the resorts have higher point requirements than others. Also the size of your family and when you go and the type of accomodations you need all make a difference. If yiou are going to rent some points for this October you would be advised to do so. The latter part of October gets booked up due to the Wine and Food Festival at Epcot.
