Am a great reader of this forum but don't contribute much but I thought I would give you the highs and lows of our trip (returned last night)

Highs::thumbsup2
  • Sequoia Lodge: Even though I ran the risk and paid £140 less for a room in the main block we were given a refurbished room in that block overlooking the lake. Preferred it to the NY so will stay there again.
  • Empty park. 5 min queues for lots of rides inc Buzz, Space Mountain, Rock and Roll etc and all the others were must less than when we were there in March.
  • The afternoon parade when the Fr Christmas sleigh came along yesterday and it snowed - only at Disney - and it was a magical moment.
  • Birthday cake at Cafe Mickey. Even though I booked it for myself (hubbie wouldn't know where to start!) the look of excitement on my daughters face when people were singing and clapping and Mickey came over was just priceless!
  • Doing things we didn't do in March (Stitch, meeting Sully, Woody and Jess)
  • The stunning castle - just magical and beyond words.
  • Staff with characters being helpful. One bought Captain Hook over to my baby as I said she'd probably cry. Captain Hook spent a few minutes playing with her and tickling her nose and she was cracking up. He was giggling in his costume as were the people waiting to see him.
  • POTC open as it was shut in March and mum was desperate to go on it as it's been over 30 years!
  • Finally following a friends advice and eating at Anette's. Yummy! Earl of Sandwich fab too!
  • Using shareholder card and seeing the savings! Think we saved at least 70 euros!
Lows:
  • Disney Studio on Tuesday morning; 10am queueing for RnR "it may open later madam - we don't know", then the parachutes broke after 15 mins in the queue (got a ticket to come straight back) and then we queued for 25 mins to meet Buzz and when they went to 'swap' there was a technical hitch and he didn't come back! They said we'd have priority if we came back but couldn't say how they'd know to give it to us! Just an annoying 1st hour to the day!
  • All the bag searches - even into the Village now. When you have a toddler and a baby it gets annoying having to put them all into the scanner everytime you want to move place.
  • Small World shut. We knew, but it was still a shame to see it. All diggers out the front so don't know how long it'll be.
  • Disney buggy being 'taken' when we were in Buzz with the only blanket we had with us on it. It was freezing!
Think that's all as I don't want to bore you all. We did have a fab time but will not being going back for a while as we're off to Florida in 2014 so saving to make it an Epic trip!!!!

Sounds like a great trip! :)

We are staying at the Sequoia next week. Did you ask for an upgrade to a renovated room or did they just give you one? I was thinking of asking for an upgrade, but if they have one available anyway are they likely to just give it to you?

It was a celebration holday (my birthday plus hubbie and I had had our marriage blessed on my birthday 11/11/11) and I had e-mailed them to say this. I didn't ask at check in and she just said 'you've got 2 of our nicest rooms that have just been renovated'. Wasn't going to complain!

I also found this very stressful and difficult having to keep unpacking the buggy etc x

I'm so glad you liked Annette's. I would have hated it if I'd have recommended it and then you didn't like it!!

Did you go to the Blue Lagoon? can't wait to see your pictures.

Sounds like you had a nice time :)

Can you tell me what room number you had. It sounds like a lovely room and I might send a cancer email and request it :)

Didn't go to Blue Lagoon as we just didn't fancy the food when we looked at the menu the day before our booking. That's when we went to Annette's. Am about half way through editting but didn't take my proper camera so not great photos. Best ones were on my phone!

Sounds like you had a nice time :)

We had 2334 (overlooking lake but through trees so still feels private) and 2332.

Welcome back :wave2: glad you had a great time. :goodvibes

Thank you.

Welcome back. Thanks for great trip report.

How cold is in the park? What clothes did you put on your baby to keep her warm?
I am going with 1.5 years old and thinking about all-in-one snowsuit to keep her warm. But snowsuit is so uncomfortable when going inside.

Was bitter when the wind blew but bearable most of the time. She wore a coat and then was in a cosy toes on our Phil and Teds. I also had a blanket which I tucked inside too one night in the park when the temperature dropped after 5pm. She was warm the whole time. I di buy mittens but they lasted about 10 seconds!

How did you email them?
