I have always been a 35mm, (Canon purest) girl and am in the market for my first digital camera. I'm leaving for WDW in 39 days and want to have time to learn the camera before I go. I'm considering the Canon Powershot SD600. I don't take a ton of pictures but like to have user friendly products. I'm also a bit confused as to which accesories I will need. Any help and/or advice??

I do not know that model. We have a Canon S2 and a Rebel XT.

But you will need extra memory and extra batteries.
Ok I got the easy answer in...

My mother has the model before the 600, the 550 and it's great. Takes excellent photos. It's fairly small, but has a nice sized lcd screen. A quality point and shoot camera.

While the Canon SD600 is a great compact point and shoot camera, it is still a "compact point and shoot" camera. Have you looked at the Canon S2 IS?

It is in the same price range but has many more advanced features that you might miss on your move from 35mm to digital.

But if you require a compact the SD600 is a very good choice.

That's a bad link. Try again?

I just bought my dgf a Canon A620 for about $220 and it a nice little (not as small as the SD600) and takes nice pictures. The only drawback is the swingout screen is kinda small.

Buydig gets good reviews here, so does B&H Photo

currently size matters in digital photography. Small cameras can get some realy good pics but bigger sensors and lenses will almost always do it better. The S1-2-3 series is a great compromise.

I would reccommend:
extra rechargable battery set (Fast charger and four 2600mah AA batteries for about $25)
much memory (1 gig for about $50 US)

also I reccomend a UV filter because the lens cap will not stay on while the camera is on and it will protect the lens.
