Altho we have travelled pretty extensively to WDW over the yrs., this upcoming trip in March will be our 1st as DVC members. DH has a business conference to attend at the Contemporary so we are staying at VWL and really looking fwd to it! Taking DS/9 & DD/6.

I'm looking for advice from the DVC veterans out there. Any last minute prep I should be doing for this trip? Something I need to do that I would not normally be doing when staying at one of the other resorts?

IOW, is there anything you wish you had known prior to your 1st trip that you could share w/me?

Tks for any and all input!!

We didn't really understand just HOW convenient the washer and dryer would be.. so we way overpacked. (Actually we packed like normal.) Bring less clothing and pack laundry tabs, dishwasher tabs, coffee and filters. Have a great trip!

Here is one tip. Take a suitcase that you can pack non-perishable items in. Bring things like coffee in some small freezer bags. They only give you a starter pack. Other items like crackers, cheese spread in a can, a couple of canned foods, sugar/equal etc. This just allows you to eat some things that you don't have to purchase at WDW. You can then use the empty suitcase to bring home the items your kids, and you, purchase while on vacation.

Also, pack some laundry detergent.

Have a wonderful trip. :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Are you staying in a studio, 1 bed, 2 bed? If in a studio you wont have washer and dryer. But I agree with Frozenfingers to not pack as many clothes as normal if you have that convienience.

Most of all enjoy! We own at VWL and love it. It is so peaceful. Sit by the fire in the Iron spike room in the big comfy chairs with your DH at night while your kids play checkers. A nice cup of coffee or hot chocalate from Roaring Forks is good by the fire also. This is especially relaxing after a night at the parks.

Have Fun!

You do have access to free use of washer/dryers while staying in a studio. While not as convenient as being in-room, you might want to bring along some detergent.

I have a question about the dishwasher soap --On past trips, DVC always provided this. In fact, they encouraged using their product to avoid problems with the dishwashers. Has this changed? Do we now need to provide our own? I've been hearing things both ways. Could it be that some people don't realize that you can request additional soap for the dishwasher?

Pam: We just returned one week ago and they are still providing the dishwasher soap. No change at all. There were several packages in our unit. I think you are right that many don't realize that you can request more of that if you need it at no cost.

We are going on our first trip in just a few weeks, and my DW just asked if they supply shampoo, soap, and lotion? There are 5 of us in a 1 BDR (the youngest is 2 and will be in a crib), and we were concerned that if these are supplied, there will not be enough of these to last us. We are going for 8 nights.

Never have seen any lotion, but there are plenty of shampoo and soap. Usually one bottle in the shower area and one in the tub.

We find there is plenty of soap, but have to be frugal with the shampoo if it is to last to trash and towel day. We bring our own shampoo.

We are staying in a 1 BR and are already enjoying the idea of packing less.

Love the idea of packing an extra case w/non-perishables! We'll do just that.

The Iron Spike sounds great and kids w/checkers - yeah!

It's the Great Escape and we're so looking fwd to it. :hyper:
