Top 10 things we learned from our first DVC trip (1st time home); no particular order:

1) VWL 2 bdrm lock-off 1st floor is QUIET and secluded. 3 back patios off of rooms are like a secluded forest-like backyard w/bunnies, birds, squirrels, geckos.
2) CS lunches still average $40 for a family of 4. A la carte dining proved to be more expensive than budgeted. Would do DDP next time for sure.
3) Spoodles was EXCELLENT food - portions HUGE - everything delicious
4) Kimono's was a disappointment especially since we love sushi- overpriced, small selection, mediocre quality/freshness - skip it
5) Kona Cafe serves bread w/butter that you can basically have as a meal - so delicious, it was all my DS3 would eat! DH had filet w/oscar - melted in his mouth
6) GF Cafe for lunch was an excellent surprise as far as food quality and service. Tomato Basil soup was served piping hot and salad was fresh. Portions average, but you felt comfortably satisfied after the meal.
7) Making daily breakfast at the villas for the family was relaxing and easy - so nice to have the conveniences of home available
8) Though boat ferry from VWL to Magic Kingdom was convenient, we will opt to stay at one of the Monorail resorts the next few years. We just love the speedy convenience to MK
9) Extended MK hours in the morning and evening SO worth it. DH felt like a kid again riding Splash Mountain 3 times at 1am - no lines!!!
10) DVC was the way to go for us - we were sad when we left and are already planning next year's trip...we're hooked!

Hi Kam,

Thanks for the post. To add to your comments:

* Also love Kona Cafe. Great food and agree about the bread. If you like sushi, next time try the sushi bar right next to Kona Cafe (you can actually order their sushi from the Kona Cafe as well). It is flown in fresh and really enjoyed it the two times I ate there on the last trip.

* Also agree about the GF Cafe. Their menu is very good, prices are reasonable and food is tasty.

* Love DVC as well! Even with rising fuel prices, it is a great thing for our family!

Thanks for your comments - will try Kona Cafe next time -didn't even think about ordering from the sushi bar!

Fuel prices won't keep us away either. We spent $300 in gas round trip - still cheaper than flying all 4 of us!

We'll have to try the GF cafe for lunch sometimes. Thanks for the report! I would like to try the tomato basil soup!

Bobbi:)
