Eeeek my countdown told me it's 18 days until check in st Old Key West.
This is our 1st time spending actual Christmas at Disney. I need help.
How much does everyone decorate? We want to decorate the doors like on the Cruise - are they metal and hold magnets?
We are bringing a tree & lights and stockings. Considering Christmas inflatables.
Tell me all your tips , tricks and Oh we should've done that advice.
Merry Christmas everyone.

Though it is occasionally done for minor celebration notices and the occasional signs - Disney doesn't generally want folks to decorate the exteriors of their DVC villas or doors. So there's not usually much of that. I think you could get away with a simple cardboard or paper cutout or sign attached by magnet (yes, the doors are metal), just don't go too nuts or it might get some attention from DVC staff.

You're fine on interiors - as long as you're not doing any decorations that could damage finishes (no staples or tape). OKW's design is such that the units are mostly individual or just a few doors per staircase/entry area, so unlike buildings like Pop Century where hundreds of people are walking past your room door, you likely only have one other family on your landing area. You can decorate balconies and the windows facing out of the living room, but generally it will only be seen by the neighboring building or your neighbor's balcony - so it's more decorating for you and your family than for others to see or enjoy.

The king of Christmas decorations at Disney is Fort Wilderness - if you like that kind of thing, consider visiting the campground to do a walking tour of some of the camping loops nearer to Settlement...some regulars go all out decorating their RVs and campsites.

I'd say no to inflatables, unless you are putting them in your windows from inside your room, or maybe outside secured to your balcony (don't use tape or anything that could leave a mark or take off paint). Lights might be pretty strung on the balcony - if you have one. As mentioned before, Fort Wilderness is where people really decorate, not so much at the resorts. Christmas trees (fake) and stockings, yes - especially if you have a 1BR or larger! Enjoy your stay!

Didn't even think of the Fort. I am sure it's amazing, as it is at Halloween. Thanks for that reminder.

I will be there next week. I have an extra wreath. I am debating whether or not to bring it. It might come down to how much space I have in my luggage.

I am definitely bringing a three foot tree. I found one that is in three pieces. I also got light up garland. I am going to put it all in the wet bar area. I got an Owners Locker because I go every December. Everything should (fingers crossed) fit into it.
