1st AKL trip! Please help!

Hi All--

We are heading to AKL soon, and I have read so many conflicting ideas re: which floor, wing, etc... (we've got Savannah view rooms).

Please post your suggestions so I can make an informed request of the front desk,

If you must see Zebra outside your balcony, you'll want to request Arusha Savannah. My favorite is Uzima savannah, but that is due to an Ankole cattle family which I seem to have bonded with over my four trips there. Of the three savannahs I'd say it would be a toss up between Arusha and Uzima as to which one is the best. Then again, some people swear by the Sunset savannah because they love the ostrich! Remember, you can wander around the resort and see animals from the other savannahs any time you want. Some people prefer the far reaches of the trails (moi) some prefer to be near the lobby or the elevators. The choice is personal and up to you!

I;ve stayed on the on 2nd, 3rd, and 5th flrs...I like the 2nd the best. Anyone above the 3rd fl has to look down thru the trees....I've always stayed Arusha Savannah, Zebra trail and it has been wonderful...Zebras is what makes it a bit different than the other trails. I'd just request a 2nd flr room, best view available next time I go and leave it to chance!

We stayed on the Uzima savannah on the 4th floor. It was great. The trees didn't hinder our view on that savannah. I agree with mep319 though that the second would be the best. Even if you get in an area without trees, you would be looking across at the animals instead of down at them. Uzima didn't have zebras, but it always had several giraffe, gazelles, tommies, and others. The only complaint I heard while we were there were from people on the Arusha savannah because some of the rooms seemed to be quite a distance from where the animals tended to hang out. If, oops I mean WHEN we go next time I would request second floor on the Uzima savannah, but would be happy anywhere at that resort!

Forgot to mention that rooms on the Zebra trail are closer to food court, pool, arcade, laundry, exercise room, and bus stop.

That isn't nessarily true. We were at the far end of Zebra trail once and I don't think we could get further from those things. Check a map of the resort to get an idea of the lay out and how far you would be!

On our 2 trips to AKL we were on the Arusha Savannah, Zebra Trail, 3rd floor. Both rooms had really great views. Luckily we were near the elevator that went to the pool area, Mara, and the laundry. We were not too far from the lobby either.

We were just there at the end of June and had the great experience of the Wayamma Safari that took us onto all the savannahs. We were staying on the Arusha Savannah, Zebra Trail (rm. 5221) overlooking Arusha Rock. After seeing all the savannahs, I was really glad that was where our room was located because it was so picturesque. There were no visible barns, fences, people pens, signs from our savannah. We had a great selection of animals to watch. I really wouldn't have wanted to be on any other savannah.

No matter where you end up at AKL it's hard to go wrong. It's my favorite

My $.02 is to request the Arusha Savanna, Zebra Trail.

This is a great viewing area for the animals, the elevator that is about halfway down the hallway takes you right down to the area where Mara and the pool are - this elevator never seemed to be overly busy either.

We have stayed on the 5th floor both times we have been, and have been very pleased.
