We've just been called for our waiting list for a 1br for the week before Xmas. We are going for 8 days and have a studio reserved for those 8 days at VWL. If we switch to a one bedroom, we would only have it for 7 days. We've have stayed in a 1br and loved it. We've never stayed in a studios, but have an idea of the differences. Are we crazy to refuse the 1br and keep the studio to perserve the points for additonal trips in the future. Or should I borrow the extra points and stay in a one bedroom, but would have to change the final day if the waiting list doesn't pull through. We were content with the Studio, but now this call has thrown a wrench into our decision.

You didn't mention how many in your party. My DH and I have stayed in both - it is just the two of us. By staying in a studio some, we've been able to take more trips. We're off in just a few short hours for our third trip in a year - an AP also helped!!

The one-bedrooms are awfully nice but we don't mind the studios either. Usually we use the studios for shorter trips and the one bedroom for longer trips, except for this trip!!

It is the best part of DVC for us - the flexibililty! So many options and so many years to try them all!!

What ever you decide - enjoy all your Disney days and nights.

If it were me, I'd take the 1 bedroom and keep the studio for the last night. Keep the waitlist for the 1 bedroom for that last night - there's still a chance it will come through. I'm assuming that the 1 bedroom and studio are both at VWL. Don't think I'd switch to a different resort for just one night.

If the waitlist doesn't come through for the last night, I'd just move the family to the studio for the last night. That wouldn't really be all that bad for just one night (would it? :teeth: ). I'd be sure make good use of the washer/dryer the last night in the 1 bedroom and pack up everything we didn't need that last night in separate bags from the "last night stuff". No in room meals that last night/day, either, LOL! (Well, except for coffee and maybe simple breakfast items).

Anyway, I think the extra room and amenities would be more than worth it!

Have fun deciding!

How many pts would you have to borrow to stay in the 1 br? If it is a lot of pts, I would just keep the studio. The 1 br will be much nicer without a doubt and you will have more room but will it be worth using up a big chunk of next years pts (if that would be the case); or would you rather have left over pts for possibly another shorter trip also in a studio? However keep in mind it will be a lot different staying in a studio with a toddler than it was in a 1 br, much less room for those little legs to shake off the willies. But if you go into a studio with realistic expectations you should be fine.
I just hate to borrow pts and try to avoid it at all costs.

We think that the biggest advantages of a 1 Bedroom over a Studio are: Space (privacy), Laundry, Kitchen

The Kitchen and Laundry are especially nice on the longer stays, not to mention can be a considerable savings for meals. With the laundry, it allows you to only pack for 4 days or so, even if you are going for a week in terms of clothes.

The Space is great, if you are going to be able to use it. For us, with older kids, it also gives you some privacy.;) With a 2 year old though, he/she may end up sleeping in the bedroom in a play pen anyways. Of course the extra TV / VCR is nice to for different interests.

We usually get a studio (through points or $) for our shorter stays (2-3 nights) and the a 1 or 2 bedroom for anything longer.
