Sorry for the delay everyone but I guess I’ll finally get around to the trip report of my first ever trip to Walt DisneyWorld and Fort Wilderness….Ok not really because I don’t really remember it but I asked my grandparents and mom over the holidays for some pictures from our trip in 1983 to the Fort and here’s what I found.

I found this picture strange, because it looks to have three different families in it, mine and two others. You never see that today, everyone waits there turn for the perfect solo picture, the way it should be.

This is me and my aunt; I think it’s on Tom Sawyer’s Island.

Some of the parade pictures may be from Disneyland they were mixed up but I think I got them separated correctly. My mom was pretty disappointed that she took so many pictures of the parade and not of her kids from that trip. That really made me think, I’m going to be better about taking pictures of my family!

That’s me on the left; did I mention I was 2 years old on this trip? That’s one year older cousin on the right.

My sister may kill me for this one. :)

Next up some Epcot and Fort pictures!

Here are the few Fort pictures I found. I have no clue which loop we were in but it looks like we were backed up to the canal.

How about that clothes line, its full!

That's our tent in the background, I'm guessing this was one of my first camping trips, but who knows my mom took us all over camping, from the Redwood forests in California to KeyWest, Florida we always camped!

On this one you can see Discovery Island still has sand beaches and the ship wreck looks to be sticking out of the water pretty good.

Sadly that's all the Fort pictures I have.

I do have some from Epcot that I'll post later.

Wow!

Thank you so much for posting these old photos.

I don't know why, but I really like to look at them.

This looks like a site that backs up to the canal by the 300 loop. I am guessing 300 rather than 1500, 1600 or 1800 because the land between the back of the site and the canal looks pretty level, while the land between the 1500, 1600 and 1800 loop sites and the canal over there has quite a slope.

Look at how much Wilderness there is around the campsite!

The Fort sure looks different now.

Good Stuff! I haven't seen Tweedle Dee/Dum in years. Never seen Jiminy Cricket.

You can find Jiminy Cricket at Animal Kingdom. Take the train out to Rafiki's Planet Watch or Conservation Station, or whatever it is being called these days, and he is usually right inside the main building there.

Wow, really nice. I miss the big trees that were in front of the

castle. Wonder what happen to them, storm maybe? Love the Fort pics.

Thanks so much for posting them. :thumbsup2

Loved seeing the old photos of Fort Wilderness. I have stayed at the Fort almost ever year since 1977. I almost forget how many trees there used to be between sites. Makes me a little "homesick" for the way it used to be.... Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much! I really enjoyed looking at them. It brought back so many memories of our first few trips there. I'll have to dig out our old photos and post them for all of you to enjoy.

Awesome pics and story! I love old TR's but my parents back in the day did not take lots of pictures either.

Wow, what a blast from the past ! Thats something you don't see anymore, characters just roaming around the streets, and the Citrus House is gone, wish it were still there :thumbsup2. And did ya get a look at Pooh, his head seems to have changed some.
Simply wonderful :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Very cool report and photos!

I did not get to visit the Fort at all as a child and even though we live in the Tampa Bay area, didn't get to Disney that much as a child either.

Thanks for posting this!

Yes I love the photos! Thanks for sharing. I quoted Frank because I was going to comment about the characters everywhere and the old school Pooh. Don't remember the Citrus House.

Very cool photos! I agree with TCD that I really enjoy all the old photos and don't know why. I also agree with Lil Lisa about not realizing how long ago the 80s were and the hair. I graduated from high school in 1983 and I know I had several bad hairstyles in high school. :goodvibes

Treasures absolute treasures........Thanks for posting.....:cool2::cool2:

I was told the big trees had to be removed because they were starting to block the view of the castle

Wow I really enjoyed the pictures from 1983 seem like a lifetime ago, so much has changed in that period of time. The only good thing about change is men not wearing short shorts anymore, boy I have always hated a man in short shorts...hehe thanks for sharing!:cool2:

So what you are saying is , it's time for me to throw out my hot pants ,:confused3
