Thursday 21st October 2010.
Today was a rest/shopping day so we started a little later and had breakfast in the villa Reeces peanut butter puffs!
The boys decided to rest rather than shop and stayed in the villa for a swim in the pool while Tony drove Mandy, Maddie and I down the 192 to Mouse Memories, a scrapbooking store which we love. After that, we headed to Joanns, a craft store, and spent a happy hour in there, choosing more scrapbooking stuff, fabrics etc while Tony went in Marshalls and Target.
Mouse memories:
By the time we had finished it was 1.30 so we met up with Peter and the boys for lunch at Dennys. It was really very good; I had the baked potato soup which was delicious, the children had wraps or burgers, and the others all had skillets with veg and chorizo sausage. I shared both Maddies and Tonys desserts Pecan pie and Peanut butter silk pie which meant I ended up with a whole one!
After lunch, Mandy, Tony, Maddie and I all headed to the Florida Mall. We were almost there when we had an accident in the car. We were approaching a junction when a woman made as if to cross the road at a crossing so Tony stopped. Unfortunately, the car behind us didnt and drove into the back of us. The young man that was driving got out and we all inspected the damage. There was a small dent in the bumper around the number plate. He told us the lady was, in fact a lady of the night looking for business during the day, presumably. She had, of course, scarpered. Unsure of the correct procedure in an accident from a legal point of view, we asked the driver, who said the police should be informed and he then proceeded to phone them. He informed us the police said to move the cars away from the junction and into a nearby office car-park (we had already moved them up the road a bit) and they would be there shortly. We really didnt feel we needed the police for such a trivial accident, but we did as we were told. Unfortunately the other driver didnt he just drove off with a cheery wave that clearly said "gullible fools" ! Needless to say, the police did not show up! We phoned Budget Car Hire to report the damage, but after several tries still could not get through.
In fact, Tony tried many times over the next few days and still could not get through to the correct department. I really dont know what we would have done if the car had been undrivable.
Anyway, we continued with our shopping, first going to a lovely little scrapbook store at The Terrace, and then going to the mall itself. We bought quite a lot of tarts at Yankee Candle, as I had a voucher and Maddie bought a couple of tops at Abercrombie and Fitch. There were no great deals anywhere though.
On our way back, we popped into The Guitar Centre and managed to get everything on our list for Callum (a mini amp and a pile of guitar strings).
Back at the villa, we showered and changed ready for dinner at The Longhorn, an absolute favourite of ours.
Waiting hungrily for our table.
The food was delicious, as usual. We had an assortment of steaks, ribs, and chicken tenders (Tony had the biggest steak at 22oz and finished it all). Only Maddie and Kieran could manage a dessert and ordered their favourite the ENORMOUS Chocolate Stampede to share between them, and very nearly finished the lot, too.
The chocolate stampede. It really is a lot bigger than it looks in the photo - that's a huge dinner plate that it's sat on!
We had a really fun evening. Unfortunately, I cannot even begin to share any of the jokes with you, because Mandy will kill me, but I can say that the memory of Kierans hilarious impression of his mum with a certain ailment will stay with me forever!
Tomorrow: A lot of food at Epcot.
