I was able to get an 8:20 reservation here for me DH and newly minted 7 year old DD's. We've never done a character buffet before or any buffet restaurant for that matter. Is it easy to navigate, clean, and good food? Do you think if we showed up early they would be able to seat us? Any recent experiences appreciated!

I can't speak to 1900 Park Fare specifically (though I too will be heading there for a breakfast reservation on my upcoming September trip), but I can relay my experience on other Disney character buffets.

I tend to prefer breakfast buffets over lunch/dinner since in my experience the food tends to be better across the board (it's hard to screw up breakfast food). The kids are likely going to enjoy breakfast staples like Mickey waffles and whatnot, and many restaurants feature some sort of breakfast specialty that you can't get elsewhere (such as 1900 Park Fare's strawberry soup). Generally the buffet layouts are easy to navigate and the tables are spaced out enough so that it's easy to move around without any fear of dropping any food.
As far as showing up early - I tend to arrive 15 minutes early to any reservation I make, and it's kind of a coin flip as to if I'm seated right away or if I have to wait for a table to be cleared. There's no harm in getting there a few minutes early, since most places have good waiting areas anyway, but there's no guarantee to be seated right away and I wouldn't show up any more than 10-15 minutes before your reservation time.
I love doing a character breakfast at some point during my trips since 1. I love breakfast food and 2. the character interactions are a ton of fun. Less-popular character breakfasts like Cape May Cafe or Tusker House have been great in my experiences since it feels like the characters aren't rushing past your table. It leads to some really great interactions!

I enjoyed the food and the characters.
"Easy to navigate"? I mean there's tables and chairs and you walk through them to get to the buffet like with any other buffet.
Yes its clean.
You could probably arrive at opening and they'd take you.

I have not been to 1900 Park Fare for breakfast yet, we have a reservation for our trip in October. But we have been there for dinner. The food was very good, the restaurant is spacious and clean. And your daughters will adore the kid-sized buffet!

We haven't done breakfast there in a few years---however, we always make sure dinner there is on our reservation list. I have always felt like it was clean and it is easier than some other places to navigate in between tables with plates of food. The character interaction has always been great there---we just prefer the characters for dinner and have found the food to be really good.

My family went to 1900 Park Fare several years ago. People who have been more recently can attest to the food and the facilities. I just wanted to add that the characters here are generally more interactive since many are face characters. So, if your twins are shy, you may want to discuss with them ahead of time. When we went, the Mad Hatter was great, but could be scary to some younger people who may not like interaction with strangers. I don't know if Tigger is still here, but the one we saw was EXTRA bouncy flouncy, you know all the things that Tiggers do bestest. It was a great time overall; however, our kids were older.

Make sure you watch the cartoon of Alice In Wonderland before you go so the girls will recognize the Mad Hatter. He is a hoot and he is worth the trip all by himself. The last time we went Mary Poppins was there as well and you will like the food. It is a good experience for little ones.

1900 PF is a very good buffet, among the top two or three on property. There are plenty of items from which to choose for everyone, and the food is generally fresh and replenished often. As for character interaction, you'd be hard-pressed to find better, especially at breakfast. As for being seated early, that's a toss up. If it's crowded right at opening, then you very well might be waiting until your reservation time; on the other hand, you might fit seamlessly into their rotation and be seated within a few minutes. There is no way of predicting that aspect with any degree of accuracy. Have fun!

Does anyone know if they have any special menu items around Christmas, specifically on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? For breakfast.

While I'm not typically a buffet food fan, the early breakfast was one of my favorite experiences when we went several years back. The characters were fantastic!! So much fun. We went our next trip though and it wasn't the same. I think the fact that we went at 11:00 vs the early 8 (ish) may have been the reason. I think you will have a good time.

We did a late breakfast here the day after Easter. Hadn’t been for breakfast before but did dinner several years ago. I was very impressed with the food. We aren’t big buffet fans so only do them occasionally. I think our adr was for 10:15 or 10:30. But everything was replenished & fresh. We’re 2 seniors & don’t really go for characters, so we just do a quick “hello” to them. But the kids near us all seemed to enjoy them. I would definitely go here again.

I can't speak for 2018, but Dec 2017, they flipped it to brunch just before Christmas and it stayed that way through the holidays. I wouldn't exactly call it special, since they just brought in some of the food they have on the dinner buffet, but they charged more of a brunch-ish price vs. a lower breakfast price tag.

Ouch that must have been annoying! I switched to Crystal Palace. My 3 year old will love the Pooh characters but won't really care about Mary Poppins or Alice.
