Roommate: Please tell me you are joking
Me: What!
Roommate: You are NOT on that Disney-board thingy AGAIN
Me: Whats wrong with that!
Roommate: Seriously Lo, you are obsessed . I think there are 12 step programs for this kind of thing
This was a common conversation between my roommate and I during the past school year . Especially during the last two months I can basically thank my mother for that, why you ask? Well, because of a little chat we had that went something like this:
Me: I am going CRAZY finals are a month and a half away and I NEED a break!!!
DM: Honey, just stick out, study hard and then you will have four months of summer at home, maybe we can even take a quick trip to Disney World
Once she said we might be able to take a trip to the world, it was all over.
Now, it was about a half second after she said those words that I was on the DisBoards . And stayed on, until school was out
... as sad as it sounds, the Dis was like my therapy
it was my disney fix!
Ok, now I might be getting ahead of myself here . How about some background on how the madness began .
My Grandparents lived in FL so growing up, our annual family vacation would always be to Tampa to visit them. Sometime in those years, my parents started driving down to Orlando and eventually, Disney became a part of our vacation routine. PS- I am an only child, thus a huge reason why it was financially possible for us to do these trips. I know that Disney is special to everyone here, but it holds a truly special place in my heart.
The last trip to Disney I took with my dad was when I was 10, a few weeks before he died. Some of the last memories I have of him are of the three of us in MK, (I have a vivid memory of sitting on a bench outside of Caseys eating hot dogs gotta love main street)
Now, in the years after my dads passing, our annual trip to FL didnt change. (Another reason why I love wdw, because in all the craziness and confusion over the years, our trips to the world remained constant.) There was a stretch of about 3 years when we couldnt make it down, when I was busy with sports in the summer and a trip just wasnt realistic. But we were able to get back into the habit just as I was entering my freshman year of high school what a wonderful habit. My grandparents then passed during my frosh and soph. years of high school and now our trip only consists of Disney.
. Ok I dont want to depress my readers! Sorry if this is such a morbid intro!!! I mean, lets get happy, Im going to the world in A MONTH!!!
Here's something to lighten the mood.... Here is a 7 yr old me (or 7-ish...) on Halloween... I was completely starstruck by Cinderella..... a funny story on this pic later in the tr....
Anyways, an update on my life currently I will be beginning my sophomore year of college this august in California . but my wonderful hometown is in Colorado, where I thankfully reside over the summer! My mom is incredible and without a doubt, the strongest and most brilliant person I know, (not to mention my best friend!). And when we go to Disney, we throw caution to the wind people!
Here's a more recent pic of me at the world (last year) pretending to be sassy, haha something happens when you put on those sequins minnie ears!
My mom and I are spending 5 nights at WL in august.
Our trip begins on 8/7
.. let the countdown begin!
coming up: more info on the trip and our first time using ADRs!
