Roommate: “Please tell me you are joking”
Me: “What!”
Roommate: “ You are NOT on that Disney-board thingy AGAIN”
Me: “What’s wrong with that!”
Roommate: “Seriously Lo, you are obsessed…. I think there are 12 step programs for this kind of thing”

This was a common conversation between my roommate and I during the past school year…. Especially during the last two months… I can basically thank my mother for that, why you ask? Well, because of a little chat we had that went something like this:

Me: “I am going CRAZY finals are a month and a half away and I NEED a break!!!”
DM: “Honey, just stick out, study hard and then you will have four months of summer at home, maybe we can even take a quick trip to Disney World…”

…Once she said we might be able to take a trip to the world, it was all over.:cool1:

Now, it was about a half second after she said those words that I was on the DisBoards…. And stayed on, until school was out:surfweb: ... as sad as it sounds, the Dis was like my therapy :rotfl: it was my disney fix!

Ok, now I might be getting ahead of myself here…. How about some background on how the madness began….

My Grandparents lived in FL so growing up, our annual family vacation would always be to Tampa to visit them. Sometime in those years, my parents started driving down to Orlando and eventually, Disney became a part of our vacation routine. PS- I am an only child, thus a huge reason why it was financially possible for us to do these trips. I know that Disney is special to everyone here, but it holds a truly special place in my heart.

The last trip to Disney I took with my dad was when I was 10, a few weeks before he died. Some of the last memories I have of him are of the three of us in MK, (I have a vivid memory of sitting on a bench outside of Casey’s eating hot dogs… gotta love main street)

Now, in the years after my dad’s passing, our annual trip to FL didn’t change. (Another reason why I love wdw, because in all the craziness and confusion over the years, our trips to the world remained constant.) There was a stretch of about 3 years when we couldn’t make it down, when I was busy with sports in the summer and a trip just wasn’t realistic. But we were able to get back into the habit just as I was entering my freshman year of high school… what a wonderful habit. My grandparents then passed during my frosh and soph. years of high school and now our trip only consists of Disney.

…. Ok I don’t want to depress my readers! Sorry if this is such a morbid intro!!! I mean, let’s get happy, I’m going to the world in A MONTH!!! :dance3:

Here's something to lighten the mood.... Here is a 7 yr old me (or 7-ish...) on Halloween... I was completely starstruck by Cinderella..... a funny story on this pic later in the tr....

Anyways, an update on my life currently… I will be beginning my sophomore year of college this august in California…. but my wonderful hometown is in Colorado, where I thankfully reside over the summer! My mom is incredible and without a doubt, the strongest and most brilliant person I know, (not to mention my best friend!). And when we go to Disney, we throw caution to the wind people!

Here's a more recent pic of me at the world (last year) pretending to be sassy, haha something happens when you put on those sequins minnie ears!:rotfl:

My mom and I are spending 5 nights at WL in august. Our trip begins on 8/7….. let the countdown begin!

coming up: more info on the trip and our first time using ADRs!

What a great start...cannot wait to learn and read more. I hope one day I have a close relationship with my DD she is only 6 1/2 now!!

We leave a few days before you get there. Keep it coming!

Sounds like fun! I'm in!

And I know what you need about using the DIS as your "disney fix" to get you through finals! The DIS and the thought of an imminent Disney trip was the only thing that got me through my exams!

I'll be staying at the WL in september, so i'm looking forward to your plans!

:welcome: to my pre-trip everyone!!! oh how exciting! (This is my first tr, so lets hope i do well!)

Isn't that so funny!? I was so stressed out during finals, but the possibility of a disney trip was an INSTANT stress reliever :woohoo: !! The Dis was a total lifesaver!

Alright, here we go!

Why not start off this installment with a laugh....

haha, alright, now down to business.... :cool2:

Ironically, I am currently watching a WDW special on the travel channel right now! haha, what a way to set the mood! :happytv: haha

Alright, so here's the deal for the trip...

*8/7- 8/12 6 days 5 nights all to be spend at the Wilderness Lodge!
*ADRs at Alfredo's, Brown Derby, Boma, CRT and Coral Reef.....

Ok, I have to say this..... I am way nervous about the ADRs we have..... my mom and I have never used reservations.... unless we are in the parks looking for a place to eat that day. But what with DDP, we discovered last year that it seemed as the all the table service restaurants were BOOKED. It was the first time we couldn't get a Cinderella's Royal Table reservation.... sad day.

Anyways, we decided to be more organized this trip and book some reservations. Well, thanks to the Dis, I decided to suggest Boma and Coral Reef.

We've never been to Boma, Coral Reef or Alfredos..... any input or suggestions????

Now, let me tell you.... making ADRs is a huge change in our normal Disney routine. Basically because the only thing we plan during the trip is our Magic Kingdom day (which is always our first full day). So actually having to plan our days has been a real challenge!!!:scared:

Disney is like a marathon to my mom and I. We get to the parks and we speed walk/ jog to our favorite attractions... she would say that I "drag her" to all the thrill rides... but that would be a bold faced lie! She always has an efficient plan of action, "fastpasses for Space mtn. first thing, then maybe buzz if there isn't too much of a line and then we can head to barnstormer, then back to Space before lunch..." And she always buys the pic from Rockin Roller Coaster  she accepted the fact that she was going to have to take over for my dad as "coaster king" ..... now, not only does she embrace, but she loves it.

Her motto is "I can get through anything for 30 seconds...." :rotfl:

Now, here is what I have for the itinerary for the first 3 days...

Tuesday:
-Arrive in Orlando @ 2:00
- Check in at WL
- Go to Epcot for EMH hours!
- ADR at Alfredos
- Illuminations!!!
-EMH!!!!

Wednesday:
-Magic Kingdom Day!
until...
-ADR at Brown Derby
-MGM evening

Thursday:
- Animal Kingdom Day
- ADR at Boma for dinner
- free night (yay no plans!)

*** more on the rest of the itinerary later!!! (sorry if reading the itinerary bores you.... it's never been my absolute fav. part of pre-trippies, so, sorry!)

oh! and here is a pic of me and my mom.... kinda blurry because my camera's nightime setting really stinks....

and my mom would totally kill me if she knew i was putting pics up on the internet.... lol :rolleyes1
