I have two five night reservations in an OKW GV, a 5 night reservation in a one bedroom at VWL, and a 5 night reservation in a two bedroom at OKW.

The total undiscounted price of these reservations, including tax, would be just about $19,000!

There is no way I would be spending anything close to that if I were not a member. Can you say motel six?

I love DVC! :lovestruc

This is the type of math I need to hear! There's another post with how much a night has cost them, that had me wondering. :confused3 When we travel, I have booked 2 bedroom villas at over $800.00 per night.Time of year we travel. I would not pay that either. I would have told them we would have to stay in a Value or off property. :thumbsup2

if you don't mind me asking.. how many points do you have? wow.. that's amazing!

Yah, it's wild ... we sometimes run a cost comparison when we make our trips. It's definitely interesting to see how quickly DVC pays for itself. ;)

All these reservations are for Sunday through Thursday night, leaving Friday.

I do the same thing when adding my points up. It really helps us justify the cost.

Enjoy! I am not inclined to calculate the costs, but I'm glad you're (we're all) getting a bargain.

I havent done this in a while, but I remember when we 1st bought in, this was how I calculated cost comparisons. And it came up much like yours. And some say DVC cant save you $$:)

A few years ago we stayed 8 nights at Wilderness Lodge Villas in a 2 bedroom. We were told that had we paid cash it would have been over $15,000. Holy Cow, that is more than we paid for our points!!! I love DVC!!!!!!:woohoo:

In April, we had a 2 bedroom and a studio at BWV and used 270 points. The rack rate was over $5,000. (We banked our 1st year, went the following year, and had 70 points transferred into our account.

My sisters wanted to seriously have me committed. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I then explained that at $7/point (my cost) that our accommodations cost the same as the last time dh and I had stayed at the WL, which is true.

My niece and nephews were complete angels during the week, and loved Disney. At Christmas, dh bought the kids Lanyard pins off the web, and the 9 yo went nuts. He wanted to know when we had been to Disney and WHY he had not come along. I wish the parents "got" Disney the way the kids do. I'm hoping to bring them along as older teenagers once they get old enough to have a little freedom.

Maybe Disney's best kept secret rings very true after all. When you figure it out in the long run you certainly get your money's worth and more imo even with the MF included!:goodvibes It costs us approx 2500.00 in flights every time we go and we still think it is a fantastic deal for our family!:thumbsup2

I just did our totals...we became members 9/1/07....by Dec of this year, our trips/reservations are a bit over $13K! (We did get double incentive pts)..I am very happy with that!

I agree. To me it was never about the money. My wife and i were just talking tonight about what a great idea it was to purchase and how excited we still are everytime we think about it.

This is great math! I have that column on my DVC Excel sheet, Where is the best place to get the current rack rates for DVC resorts?

I bought 225 points last October. In November I added on 110, and then in December added another 110. So I have 445 annual points, plus received 360 Developers points!

I've already saved $15,900 in reservation costs between Dec 2007 and Sep 2008! Includes:

1 week in a 1BR at SSR,
5 nts in a condo at SSR for family
1 week in a 1BR Savannah view at AKV
2 nts at Disneyland Hotel Paris (included park tickets in 2007 too)
4 nts at Ambassador Hotel at Tokyo Disney
Adventures by Disney 8 nt trip to Germany (points for me, cash for DD)
1br suite on the DVC member cruise (points for me, cash for DD)

I also didn't buy DVC JUST for the savings. I look at is more of an investment on future vacations for my daughter and myself. But I do keep track of what I'm getting in return for my investment. And so far it's looking good. :thumbsup2
