18th birthday at the World with anti-Disney parents!-March 2011 PTR-Update 4/2

Hello everyone! My name is Clarice, I'm 17 and a senior in high school. I live in VA and obviously I'm a Disney addict. This is my first PTR and I just completed my first TR (which is in my sig if you'd like to read it!) I guess I'll start off with how this trip came to be. Earlier this year I started to get the Disney bug pretty bad. The last time I had been to Disney was when I was in 4th grade. My parents and I went twice while I was still in elementary school. Those trips definitely had their ups and downs...Well, I started to ask my parents if we could possibly go back during the summer this year as we were planning a trip to Florida anyways...but they said probably not. Then the whole oil spill happened and of course the whole trip to FL was scrapped. I had pretty much lost hope on ever getting back to Disney.

Well, about a month or two later my best friend Jamie asked if I wanted to go with her and her family to the world!!! I started screaming I was so happy and soon I couldn't even focus on school anymore because I was so excited. We were there for about a week and I had the best time of my life. As soon as I came back, it was official, I had become obsessed with Disney and couldn't wait to go back. I soon started asking my parents if maybe we could go for my birthday, as I had never been to Disney to actually celebrate something and figured 18 is a pretty big birthday, why not do it at Disney?! After a lot of bugging and to my absolute shock...they agreed!!

First, it was only going to be for 2-3 days, but I must be good at negotiating terms because now we're going for a whole week! However, my parents aren't huge fans of Disney. Mostly my dad hates it, my mom does like Disney but to a point. She thinks 5 days is way too much(I know, crazy right?). My dad just hates it all in general, he thinks Mickey is out to get everyone's money... yeah I honestly don't know how I'm related to him. He does like a few things such as the thrill rides, but that's about it... I'm hoping this trip will change his opinion forever. However, my mom and I have threatened to just leave him at home, save the money, and upgrade to a nicer resort!! But overall I'm glad my parents agreed and now that I know a lot more about Disney and I'm a lot older, I think they'll enjoy it a lot more this time around. That's all I have time for now but I'll leave you with a few pics of my trip back in June...enjoy!

So let's get to know the cast a bit more....

Me: Clarice, 17

I am the Disney freak of the family, which my parents get tired of. I love cheerleading, I have been doing it for almost 10 years now. I also love anything pink, shopping, the NY Giants, and old/new Volkswagens (I drive a silver new beetle, that I love!) I am obsessed with the movie Mulan, and I have a really big crush on Captain Li Shang I also want to work at Disney World someday, I'm hoping to eventually become a VP of one of the parks or something to do with running them. I absolutely love theme parks....so it would be a dream job for me.

Likes: Rock n Roller Coaster!!!, all the Mountains(Splash, space, BTMR),ToT,Test Track, Fantasmic,and EE

Dislikes: Kali River Rapids...I don't enjoy being soaking wet

yay! I'm so glad you're here! I was kind of dragging my feet to start a PTR...senior year is killing me! I can't wait for the 100 day mark, I already have my Disney themed outfit planned lol.

Now for the details about the trip...

When: March 27-April 2, 2011
Where: All Star Movies (first time ever staying on site!!!)
Why: To celebrate my 18th birthday!!!

We will be there during my actual birthday, which is March 30th, and I have already gotten my parents to agree to a special dinner that night. I made our reservation at 1900 Park Fare for that night as we have never done a character meal. I'm hoping it will be good but I've read some pretty negative reviews about the place. However we've never eaten at a TS restaurant at Disney so we don't really have anything to compare it to! Plus It's my dream to see the inside of the GF, I think its the most beautiful resort ever My dad got us a pretty sweet deal on flight tickets 2 weeks ago (less than $600 for all 3 of us) so that's already done. The last thing we need to do now is buy the tickets for the park. I'm probably going to get them from Orlando Fun Tickets as they have the cheapest ones so far.

Here is a rough idea of where we will be each day:

Sunday 3/27- Arrive at Disney, DTD in the evening
Monday 3/28- MK
Tuesday 3/29- Epcot
Wednesday3/30- AK, Birthday dinner at 1900 Park Fare!!!
Thursday 3/31- DHS
Friday 4/1- MK
Saturday 4/2- Leave

Just wanted to share some good news I found out today....

I got accepted to CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY!!!!!!!!!
It was the only place I applied. I absolutely love it there, everything is perfect about it, the dorms are awesome, the school is gorgeous, its right next to Busch Gardens, and it has an awesome business school!!! I'm one step closer to my goal of working at Disney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is my
100 DAY MARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!​

I'm so excited that tomorrow I will finally be in the double digits! I will post more of a life update later tonight, but right now I have to go cheer at a basketball double header. Go Vikes!!!!

Phew! So glad this week is finally over! It was a pretty long but also really good one. I had to cheer at 6 basketball games this week so I'm dead tired. But I got into my #1 college (CNU) this week and I was voted to be captain of my cheer squad, so I can't complain, my week was pretty sweet! To pass the time tonight I'm going to do this awesome survey that jelloarms created!

GETTING THERE​

5. How do you usually get to to Disney World?::

Airplane or driving. My last trip to the world we drove, but for my next trip we will be flying thank god!!!

6. What do you do to pass the time while getting there?::

Try to sleep, color in disney coloring books!!!, listen to disney music, license plate game, read

7. Do you have any particularly memorable or interesting experiences you can recall happening on your journey to Disney World?::

Well on my trip in June this year I went with my best friend and her family. We drove and there were 6 of us in the car. Now I'm an only child so I'm not used to all of the noise and commotion so that was definitely an experience I will always remember! lol

LODGING​

8. What is your favorite place you have stayed at and why? It does not have to be on property::

As a matter of fact, my first time ever staying on site will be this coming March so I'm guessing All Star Movies will have to be my favorite!


9. What is your least favorite place you have stayed at and why? (It doesn't necessarily have to be a bad place, it's just that maybe out of all your list of favorites, this would be your least favorite)::

Anywhere off site, I'm looking forward to staying where all the magic happens!!!

MAGIC KINGDOM​

10. What is your favorite attraction in the MK?

Definitely Space Mountain! I love coasters, and although it doesn't go upside or super fast, I love that eerie feeling of not knowing where your going/ if your going to hit something! hahah I know I'm crazy


11. What is your least favorite attraction in the MK?

Umm, Peter Pan's Flight maybe? It's a cute ride and all but last trip we waited like an hour for it and I just don't think it's worth that long of a wait.


12. Tell me a random memory you have involving the MK.

I remember from my very first trip that it was pouring down rain one day so we ran under cover in the passage way through Cinderella's castle. I remember I loved looking at all the mosaic pictures in there and thinking that they were so beautiful. That's the only time I've ever been through there so I'm looking forward to seeing it again. Kind of a boring memory...sorry! lol

13. What is your favorite place to eat in the MK?

Anywhere there's food I guess, haha I pretty much can find something I like at all of the places to eat in Disney!

EPCOT​

14. What is your favorite attraction in Epcot?

Test Track!!! I love fast rides


15. What is your least favorite attraction in Epcot?

Uhm nothing really?....


16. Tell me a random memory you have involving Epcot.

Well it's kind of a sad memory, on our June trip I was determined to meet Shang (even though I know he never appears anymore) Well we had asked at DTD where the most likely place to find him would be and they said Epcot. They told us to check there first thing and on our Epcot day we went to Guest Services. They called to check and see if he might be out that day but they said no way. I literally had tears in my eyes, I am still waiting/determined to meet him!!!!


17. What is your favorite place to eat in Epcot?

France! I love the pastries there

18. What is your favorite country in the World Showcase?

Hmm... I really like China, Japan, and the UK. I can't just choose one!!!!

HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS​

19. What is your favorite attraction in HS?

ROCK N ROLLER COASTER!!!!!!!! BEST RIDE IN THE WORLD.

nothing really, DHS is my favorite park besides MK!


21. Tell me a random memory you have involving HS.

Okay I will remember this for the rest of my life. Back in June we saw Fantasmic, but I really wanted to ride RNR one more time before the park closed. My best friend, being the amazing best friend she is, decided that we should leave Fantasmic early if I wanted to get in line for RNR one more time. So we leave about 10 minutes before the show ends and get in line for RNR. After awhile her 2 little brothers join us in line and tell us about the end of the show. Her older little bro says that the finale had a whole bunch of characters on a boat at the end. I of course ask if Shang was there, and he said yeah he was....WAIT WHAT?! To this day I still don't know if he was really on that boat, but her little bro swore it was him!!!!


22. What is your favorite place to eat in HS?

anywhere!! ( I really need to start getting to know the places to eat in WDW more don't I?!) lol


23. Do you watch the Citizens of Hollywood?

No...What is that? I guess I should know...oops

ANIMAL KINGDOM​

24. What is your favorite attraction in the AK?

Expedition Everest!!!!!!!


25. What is your least favorite attraction in the AK?

Kali River Rapids....I hate being soaking wet!!!!


26. Tell me a random memory you have involving the AK.

Oh I actually have a good one! So back during my first trip to WDW ever with my parents, we were in Dinoland and they let me go play in that big playground they have there. Well I was in 2nd grade then I think and I met this other girl there and we decided we were best friends! haha I know weird right?! We decided to play hide and seek in that ginormous playground, and that ended up being a bad idea. It was her turn to hide and after looking for her (but really I was too busy playing with all the cool stuff there) for a long time, I never found her. My parents said it was time to go, and I never got to say goodbye! For all I know she could still be hiding in that playground waiting for me to find her?!


27. What is your favorite place to eat in the AK?

Rainforest Cafe! Best. Restaurant. Ever.

OTHER DISNEY PLACES​

28. Which water parks have you been to and which one was your favorite?

I went to Typhoon Lagoon for the first time this year and personally I didn't like it. I was terrified of that wave pool!! I'm surprised kids are allowed in that thing, I thought it was going to drown me even in the shallow end!!! Blizzard Beach looks more like me, especially the Summit Plummet slide, that thing looks awesome!!!


29. What was your favorite part about that water park?

I liked the lazy river at Typhoon I guess.

Nope, it looks cool though.

EXTINCT DISNEY​

34. What are some of your favorite attractions that are no longer around?

I don't know, I haven't been going to Disney long enough to have lost an attraction yet!! 20,000 leagues always looked kinda cool though!

No.

No, I saw the pictures a week or so ago of what it looks like now though. It looks so sad, but kinda cool...in a creepy way! haha


37. What was your favorite part about the now shut down Pleasure Island?

No memories!

I just saw my first Disney parade/show this year...so yeah they all still exist!

chicken nuggets? haha I eat them a lot when I'm there.

Going to Disney while it's my birthday!!! I'm so excited to celebrate it there!!!!

The slower kiddyish rides I guess, I mean they're cute but after one time, it's kinda old.

Mulan!!! She is the most amazing Disney princess/female/person or whatever you want to call her!

Gaston is pretty awesome. I like that he uses antlers in all of his decorating (I've hit 2 deer already while driving, so I absolutely hate deer) lol


46. Your earliest Disney Park Memory::

My very first memory of Disney would be meeting Pluto(for some reason I wanted to meet him the most!) on my very first trip. My parents and I obviously didn't know the drill. So I'm like 5 families away from meeting Pluto and I realize that I need/want an autograph book! My mom sprints to buy me a book and a pen. When it's my turn I just hand them both to Pluto and the handler has to explain that i have to open the pen and book for him to sign it!!! hahaha It was a good learning experience I guess


47. What other Disney Parks have you been to outside of Disney World?

No where...yet


48. Have you ever had to explain your love for Disney to someone who just didn't "get" it?

Oh lord yeah a lot. Mostly to my parents, but they'll get it someday!

49. Blasphemous I know, but where is your favorite place to travel outside of Disney?

I do love NYC, I wanted to live there a few years ago. Now it's Florida!


50. Which Disney character reminds you of you?

I guess Mulan sort of reminds me of myself sometimes. We are both very determined. I've recently become obsessed with Tangled though lately and Rapunzel reminds me a lot of myself looks wise! We both have green eyes, and lots and lots of long blond hair!! lol

Your Animal Kingdom memory actually made me LoL in real life. I have this werid mental image of you passing by the Dino Dig area and out of a small rarely passed crevice, this girl, all dirty and dusty wearing too small clothes grabs you and angrily snarls, "hello best friend, you never came to find me! YOU NEVER CAME TO FIND MEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! BUT HERE YOU ARE AND NOW WE WILL BE BEST FRIENDS FOREVAAAAARRRRR!!!!!!!"

Hello everyone, hope your holidays are going well! I wanted to do a quick holiday update before Christmas. I wanted to share some holiday stuff that I added a Disney twist to. I love making anything Disney related, so around the holidays my creative side tends to come out a lot!

I made a gingerbread house last year, and wanted to do something different this year. I saw a gingerbread train advertised and it took a while to find it! It was pretty easy to make, just took a long time. I tried to add Mickey heads where ever I could

My mom and I also made gingerbread cookies, so of course I had to make a few Disney ones.

I made this ornament too. I cut out each individual crystal and stuck it on there. It took awhile but I think it turned out pretty good (hopefully you can tell,sorry the pic is so blurry)

Now I didn't make this, but my Dad surprised me with this light up Mickey mouse head and I really love it.

I have to share this too. We got some snow last week, and I just love taking snow pictures
