I booked 5 nights in orlando on 1800hotels.com last week, only to find out today that the company is now closed and bankrupt! But I already paid them for my hotel rooms!!!

I've called my credit card company and supplied them with all the documentation, but if you have booked through them, you'll need to call the hotel you're suppose to stay at and check if they actually booked your room. Also, a call to your credit card company is a good idea, you might get your money back.

I hate that I've lost over $400 on this, but lucky that it won't effect our vacation that much.

Sorry to hear that...did you call the hotel directly and was the reservation made?

Our reservation was for September, I contacted Visa and they can't start a dispute until after the reservatoin date has gone by. they say I will get my money back, but not before that date.

What a Nightmare, sorry to anyone effected , hope you get your money back or your room reservation

I am doing the charge back under the clause, unable to fullfill terms and conditions. I want to cancel my room because my mom is letting us use her time share, so don't need it anymore, but I'm unable to call or email them because they have no staff at their office in Florida. If I can't contact them, then they are not fullfilling their terms and conditions.

the only bad part is that a full charge back may not be possible because they have a 80% refund policy. So I'm likely to only see 80% back, but I did put in a charge back for the whole amount.

My hope though is that others will see this and realize their reservations are in jeopardy and make sure they have a room somewhere.

This response would concern me if you've already been billed. Isn't there a 60 day limit from the date of billing for disputing a charge? I would go ahead and dispute the charge in writing within that time frame so they can't say you missed the deadline.

Update, I got a full refund yesterday for my reservation:

We have received notification today that 1800hotels.com has accepted the compliance case we filed, and they returned full credit of $427.75. We have issued an adjustment for this amount, and you should see $427.75 post to your Account within one business day.

Good for you. I got an e-mail from 1-800-hotels with my cancellation, now I have to fax that to my credit card co to get re-imbursed. They say it may take six weeks. Better then than not at all.
