17 Days of Disney Magic (aka Brits, Pirates & Princesses) - Lots of PICS!

your pictures are great. I love Fantasmic too it's my favorite show I think. I liked the resort pics too and the garden is amazing.

Thanks everyone

Seobaina,
You know the warning don't go grocery shopping hungry, do not read Seobaina's trip reports when hungry. Ohh, the Beaches and Cream looks so good, I have never tried them. I think it is first come first serve? I fell behind with my reading am now caught up. Great pictures and reporting, looks like fast track was not very busy when you rode! What did you think of EMH I have never done them? I hope nothing too serious why you are feeling so sleepy while in WDW. Take care.

LOL sorry about that, I was brainwashed by disboard food porn. Although Karen is better at remembering to take pics than me. Yep, pretty certain B&C is just walk up - we certainly hadn't booked. It's not that big and very popular but we didn't have a wait. But we went late lunch, so we may have just timed it right - after lunch but before the afternoon snackers. Testtrack was pretty empty - 10 min wait or something like that. And nope, nothing serious - just stupid Brits abroad :rotfl: Will post in a second.

Sounds totally decadent!

I like the garden pics!

Thanks and it looks it doesn't it? I know how decadent the sundae we had was but we SO wanna try this challenge!

Supplied up on what?? don't leave us hanging ....Pulp some pulp, no pulp ???

:rotfl: I'm sorry. I meant supplied up with bagels, candy, etc as well as OJ but I believe we went for the no pulp on this one! :lmao:

I just caught up with your trip report. I am loving it! Especially love the pic of Karen picking up her ice cream. :rotfl2:

Thanks and  Yep, she might kill me for that one but I couldn't resist, she just looked so guilty as she dug for fudge :lmao:

Happily full of ice cream we went for a little more of a wander around the hotel, and eyed up some of the restaurant menus…which looked really good. Don't have any pics of the menus but here's two more hotel shots!

Img_4122a.jpg

While wandering we went into the shop, which is actually pretty big. It’s funny cause at home I shop more like a man - I know what I want, go get it, walk out. But in Disney I can window shop or wander around for hours!! And Karen’s the same :rotfl:.

Anyway, we got talking to the CM there and I asked her about medicine. I explained that I’d had a slight cold for several days and was concerned because I was taking more than the recommended dosage (I know, bad me) but I still felt awful. She asked what I was taking and I explained that another CM had recommended Nyquil! Now, I had heard of vicks so I’d been happy to take it and as most cold medicines are the same I’d been taking them without reading more than the recommended dose. Yeah…told you, stupefied Brit abroad . I blame Disney…I was too busy having fun to slow down and read the medicine.

When the CM stopped laughing she explained that not only did Nyquil have a sleeping agent in it, it also contained alcohol. I don’t drink. So the reason I was so tired all the time was because I was taking more than a recommended amount of sleeping tablet and alcohol. :rolleyes1 I personally think it shows my dedication to WDW that I even got up and walked around in that state :lmao:. Needless to say I stopped taking it and found an alternative immediately and by the next day I felt SO much better!:woohoo:

With new medicine and a new silly story, we headed back to EPCOT by boat. Karen was desperate to see one of the acrobat shows in China and I just didn’t have the energy yet to dash across the park, so I told her I’d meet her in innoventions.

Karen dashed off and took an impressive amount of quick shots of shows on her way around the World (and she was running at this point) :worship:

And although she didn’t get a great seat, she did make it in time for her show.
Dsc08976a.jpg

Dsc08985a.jpg

While taking my own more leisurely stroll over to Innoventions, I passed a photopass photographer and figured ‘why not’. So I posed for her. She then asked if she could take a special photo as I was wearing black – apparently Tink ‘pops out’ on black and it’s actually one of my fave photos of the trip. So here they are:

image0656a.jpg

Over at Innoventions I played for a bit before sitting down to wait for Karen. The drugs hadn’t worn off yet so I was faultering big time by now.
Dsc09001a.jpg

Dsc09002a.jpg

If you’ve not been to Innoventions I can recommend it as a break from the norm. Don’t get me wrong, if I was short on time in the parks I wouldn’t make it a priority but if you have an hour to kill then it’s worth having a look. I think we missed a lot though because there weren’t many CMs around and some of the explanations on what you had to do weren’t very clear.:confused3
In Disney?:scared1:
Dsc08989a.jpg

These kids were trying to pull a weight up in a machine to smash a television :rotfl:
Dsc08991a.jpg

Dsc08994a.jpg

As we had ADRs for that afternoon we figured we should start walking out but as we were passing the Seas we noticed that there wasn’t a line for Turtle Talk. We love it so we figured we’d have another viewing.
Dsc08997a.jpg

Dsc08999a.jpg

Mine, mine, mine
Dsc09000a.jpg

One last EPCOT shot
Img_4124a.jpg

Then we left to make our way to the Grand Floridian.

I’ve never been to the GF before but we were running tight on time so we went straight to check in for our ADR. There were a lot of young princesses there too and they all looked so cute! We did a quick change in the restroom so that we weren't all stinky from walking around in the heat all day LOL. I did manage to grab this one photo of the lobby before we went in
Img_4128a.jpg

After sitting down at our table, which was very close to where the characters came out, we were asked about a drink and then pretty much immediately pounced upon by the sisters. They were great! So much fun although not with us very long.
Img_4130a.jpg

Our server took this one
Img_4131a.jpg

As Karen had been looking forward to this meal most (she’s a villain fan like me) I’d arranged for it to be her birthday meal. I’d ordered a surprise dessert for her for later but because I’d mentioned it to the CM sitting us, they brought Karen a crown and placemat. She wore the crown with pride
Img_4140a.jpg

After the sisters had gone we had a few moments so we went to get our food. 1900 park fare is a buffet meal and the food is REALLY good. I even loved the soup and I hate soup! Food Porn time.
Img_4134a.jpg

Img_4138a.jpg

Img_4133a.jpg

Img_4142a.jpg

Karen ordered a cocktail. I dunno what it was but she said it was lovely and you can see it in this picture
Dsc09019a.jpg

As we were finishing off our main meal, Cinderella came out. She was very sweet and asked us about Karen’s birthday etc.
Img_4143a.jpg

The Lady Tremaine came over. She was cold, as she’s supposed to be, but she was also very funny – not as funny as the sisters but funny.
Img_4144a.jpg

Then they played some music and Cinderella and Prince Charming started to dance.
Dsc09011a.jpg

It was really sweet watching all the kids watching them dance and then it was their turn. All the characters gathered kids around them and danced.
Img_4151a.jpg

Img_4157a.jpg

Dsc09014a.jpg

I dunno what happened to the ‘flow’ but we had somehow been missed by Prince Charming. Anastasia even came past us again and said ‘are you still here?’ and we hadn’t seen the prince. Our server happened to ask at one point if we’d met everyone yet and we said no, so he told the Prince who came over and immediately apologised. Gotta say having seen tripreps from other people we got a very nice looking Prince and he was very charming! How short do I look though? LOL
Dsc09026a.jpg

Having finally met everyone we settled down for dessert. I had a mix of chocolatey goodness from the buffet :lovestruc
Img_4149a.jpg

and Karen had her surprise – the slipper.
Dsc09023a.jpg

Which was gorgeous. I think she took some of it with her cause she was too full but she was loving it.

After dinner we went for a wander around the GF inside (I don’t know why we didn’t go outside…think we got waylaid in the store talking to CMs).
Dsc09005a.jpg

It was quiet in the store so we chatted away to them…they were asking me lots of questions about being a CM in the UK. While we were there I found a kids pirates baseball cap that I loved and it fit, so Karen bought it for me as a treat. There are pics of me wearing it the next day.

Leaving the GF we took the monorail and then bus to AKL. When we got there we were relieved to find our bags had made it, so after check-in we went to our room.

The room was lovely but we couldn’t stop laughing because we were stuck down one of the front side wings (we hadn’t paid for the savannah view). Our window basically opened on to the overhang shelter of the bus queue area…so we had virtually no natural light and a view of a roof LOL. The room itself was pretty though
Dsc09027a.jpg

Dsc09028a.jpg

And we liked the towel display!
Img_4158a.jpg

Oh what a great time I like the pics of tinkerbell and the slipper everything looks good great food porn prince is very charmin lol;)the sisters look very funny. I would like to go there on my next trip how did you book it what did you ask for?

Seobaina,
I am just going to leave to do some shopping, in the states (don't know if they do this in England) when it is your birthday month alot of stores send you incentive shopping discounts to say Happy Birthday. I have to go pick up some things for my trip to Disney in a few weeks and will be using all of my birthday coupons today. Anyway, I will come back to read your recent post I wanted to check and see how come you were so sleepy. You poor thing that Nyquil is really strong, and you like me do not drink so our tollerance is very low for that stuff. I feel so bad for you it litterally leaves you in a stooper. You really wanted to visit Disney to be able to do all you did on Nyquil, OMG. I wil read the rest when I come back home today.

I am so glad it is Monday, because you update like crazy!:cool1: Lady Tremaine is sooooooooo tall. How tall is Karen? I am just curious because of how tall Lady Tremaine is. I want to eat there now, but already have all my ADR's made. Next trip it is a must! I don't drink either and know how tired that Nyquil makes me. I can't believe you had taken it for how many days? 3? :scared1: You were determined to see the World.

You got the "Hottie" Prince Chanrming. Thats the one we had last year too. He is great and took alot of time with Claire. This years was very feminine looking and not my favorite, but Claire was happy with him.

Here is one of our shots from last year.

princecharmingtk6.jpg

I wondered if you had taken Nyquil. That stuff is killer. It'd knock an elephant out. LOL!

Do you mean you would like to go to that restaurant? If so it's easy. Just call the dining number and ask for dinner at 1900 Park Fare.

The kitchen sink at beaches & cream looks so good. I'm going to make a note in my Disney guide book to try to have lunch here next time we goto Epcot. It might be a nice break/change of pace!! Great job!(as always LOL):goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

When I was working at Disney World all of my roommates and I went and got the Kitchen Sink.... It was insane! It was 5 girls working on it and we hardly made a dent in it! It's so huge! And something like $30 bucks!

I have been following & enjoying your report. Love the style of your writing & all the pics.

I actually wanted to share that I thought you did get a good looking Prince Charming. The prince when we went was very sweet, but he looked so young.

My DD Maddie still thought he was a cutie.

IMGA0165.jpg

However, my DD Mickie was less than happy with him. Later when we were looking through the pics (post trip) Mickie commented he couldn't have been the real prince, as he didn't look like the movie.

And he's got light hair. Prince Chariming is supposed to have dark hair. LOL!

Next morning, Thursday, again dawned fairly bright and early. We only had a few days left now and lots to do! We started off a bit mixed though at the hotel. We decided to immediately go and see the animals. There were only a couple of other people around because it was so early, and we did manage to get some nice photos.
Dsc09033a.jpg

Img_4166a.jpg

Img_4170a.jpg

We also took some photos of the hotel, now that we could see it. One criticism I have with AKL is, particularly near our room, it is so dark and we made several jokes about it being perfect for vampires. It is lovely to look at though…when you can see it!

We headed outside and past the pool to get some breakfast
Dsc09039a.jpg

Dsc09040a.jpg

and this was where things went wrong. Without going into a loooonnnnggg description of what happened I’ll sum it up by saying that first of all the CM that served me refused to give me discount simply because she didn’t know how to put my card through and couldn’t see a manager. She didn’t actually LOOK for one or attempt to be pleasant but she said no. Then the same CM charged Karen for a ton of extras on a breakfast she should have been able to get included and when we raised it with the manager on duty she said ‘well yes you’re right but it’s tough cause I can’t do anything about it now’. Needless to say we complained to the hotel guest services who were lovely and admitted it wasn’t the first time they’d had complaints about that restaurant and some of the cast there. It kinda ruined our opinion of AKL, which was a shame because the other CMs we met were lovely.
Dsc09042a.jpg

Anyway, breakfasted up we left the hotel to go to AK itself. Like last time we dashed straight to the safari but there was already a long wait so we grabbed fastpass tickets and went for a walk instead.
Dsc09045a.jpg

Dsc09046a.jpg

We soon bumped into a familiar face. We actually met Lilo and Stitch here together in 2006 but Stitch wasn’t about on this day. Apparently he’s a late riser so he wasn’t going to be around for over an hour. As there were only a couple of people in the line we waited for Lilo instead.
Img_4181a.jpg

image0486a.jpg

As we’d not really gone to Camp Mickey and Minnie before, we wandered down there next.
Dsc09065a.jpg

It’s very pretty, with nice statues of the fab 5 and friends.
Dsc09047a.jpg

As I didn’t get to do it in 2006, Karen said we could go visit the Pocahontas show. :cool1:
Img_4182a.jpg

Dsc09049a.jpg

I believe it’s going, or has gone, so I’m really glad that we did see it. It’s not the best show, aimed at a younger audience but the message is good and I think it could have been revamped a little and kept. Oh well, here are some pics:

I do have a bit of a Pocahontas obsession so I liked it anyway:lovestruc. And if you don’t believe my obsession…here’s me at work before Christmas on a dress-up day! :rotfl: Note I had to wear layers as it was the UK in December!

Ooohhh No, they don't do that in the UK, it's my birthday in April and I don't get anything from shops :sad1: but that's really cool and happy birthday!!! Hope the shopping went well and thanks for the concern

I am so glad it is Monday, because you update like crazy!:cool1:

LOL I try! :rotfl:

Karen is about 5ft 6ins, so yep, she and the Prince were both tall! YOu should do it, it's really good and one we'll repeat if poss. I'd taken it for about 5/6 days I know, I'm crazy but determined :lmao:

YAY! I thought he was hot.:cool1: In Paris they have a very different look to their princess...not my type at all :confused3 Cute pic btw!

LOL Yep, I know better now cause I really was struggling and, as I say, I'm used to going on no sleep! :rotfl:

Do you mean you would like to go to that restaurant? If so it's easy. Just call the dining number and ask for dinner at 1900 Park Fare.

Thanks for answering that for me!

Aww, thank you. And yep, your prince was young!!! Your daughter is a cutie though and Mickie does kinda have a point!

Seobaina,
I am back from shopping, my birthday is the day before yours, I am going to be thinking of you on yours 4/24 and have a yummy treat in your honor at WDW. They mail out these promotions for birthday discounts for use several weeks in advance which is quite nice, I did not read all of your post yet. I had to comment,:scared1: OMG!!! your Prince, YOWZA what a cutie. I did not make reservations for that meal. I am majorly regretting it now. I will just have to settle looking at all of the cute guys in World Showcase :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
