I will be 16 weeks prego when I go to DL in a few weeks...I am good withthe walking, drinking, breaks, etc. The one ride that I question is Splash...what are your thoughts? Is the big drop too BIG ?!?! :)!!!

I am excited to see DL in a whole new way...No ToT, Indy, Mountains, Matterhorn....crazy, but well worth it! :)!!!

Any thoughts or insight would be great! Thanks! :)

I went went several years ago when I was 12 weeks pregnant. I skipped everything that had the warnings, including Splash. I'm sure many of them are ok, but personally I couldn't have lived with myself on the off chance something happened. You can check with your doctor for a better opinion on how you will handle things.

I didn't ride it because I thought it would be too steep, but I once read that SM is at the same degree angle as POTC. Therefore, it would probably be okay to ride.

I'm going tomorrow and I'm 14 weeks pg. My Midwife just said that I can ride anything my 18 month old can ride. :lmao: Then said to avoid anything too jerky, bumpy, etc. No coasters obviously.

I've never been to DL so I don't know about Splash.

Here's something to think about....Splash has far, far less g-force than flying on an airplane and that is said to be perfectly safe. As a flight attendant we are allowed to work into our 32 week of pregnancy (even after dr's reccomend that you not fly as a passenger). I think amusement parks ere way on the said of caution to "cover themselves" from potential lawsuits. I wouldn't recommend roller coasters obviously, but splash is very mild.

Per the official Disneyland website:

"Splash Mountain...

Category: Big Thrills
Location: Critter Country
Height Requirement: 40" (102 cm) or taller
This attraction has Disney's FASTPASS® service Help
Additional Information

* WARNING! For safety, you should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure. Expectant mothers should not ride."

As a general rule, expectant mothers shouldn't ride any ride that has a height requirement. It's clearly your choice, but this is a hot topic on these boards!

I'm 26 weeks along now and we visit about once a week or every other. The only issues I have is that my back is killing me after 8 hours in the parks but I'm also chasing my 2 and 3 year olds lol

I would not ride splash. Even at 26 weeks POTC drops are getting borderline. Splash will be there on your next visit. I wouldn't risk anything happening. The advice of riding what a small child can ride is good advice. Anything without a height requirement is fine. I do ride soarin though because it's gentle and I love it. Hope you have a great trip! Remember to stay hydrated :)

This is not true. The drop on Splash is the same HEIGHT as POTC, but the angle on Splash is much steeper. Just for clarification. (I know nothing about what's "okay" for pregnant women.)

Why aren't you asking your OB if this would be ok? Why would you take the word from a bunch of anon people on a message board as to what would be ok for you and the health of your unborn child?

Maybe because her OB has never been to Disneyland and wouldn't know what to tell her? :confused3

I second what the others said, skip Splash and Matterhorn, and only go with what the little kiddos can ride (which is plenty!!)... the rest will be there after your little one is born! I am impressed that you are going to DL at 16 weeks though... I had barely been done puking 5 times a day at 16 weeks, and really wouldn't be up to the amount of walking DL requires yet! Good luck!

It's a personal decision. There is no scientific or anecdotal evidence either way. Decide what you personally are comfortable with and have a good time.

Why would you want to take a chance?

I agree--if you have to ask the question I think you already know the answer. And why take a chance, as someone else said?

I always say better safe than sorry. Like another poster said, Splash will be there next time you visit. Since you are asking for opinions, I say pass. Have a magical trip. :wizard:

How is this not a no-brainer? If a ride has a POSTED WARNING for expectant mothers, saying it is unsafe for them to ride then how is that not as plain as day?? :confused3

I went when I was 20weeks pg with ds#2. In fact I got the message that my baby was actually going to be a boy at the payphone in the storage locker area off Main Street - a lovely memory whenever I go back!

I rode what I felt comfortable riding - knowing my own boy, my own limitations & my own responsibility to my unborn baby. I think that you are smart enough to ask here to be able to judge. If I'd been having an *off* day, or was worried - I wouldn't even ride Dumbo! But If I felt good - I wanted to enjoy the moment - responsibly.

Have a great trip!!
