We are leaving for Disneyland two weeks from tomorrow and we JUST purchased our park tickets last night!
Here's our plan so far:
P.S. - This is our fourth trip to DL and we are also WDW vets. My 20 yo son and his 57 yo mom no longer rope drop at Disneyland. We are "stroll into the parks at 8:30 and go have a sit down breakfast" kind of people now.
MONDAY - We are flying in from Texas. Our flight is at 5:00 am. We will be sleepy but we will go to the parks! LOL Our plan is to drop off our bags at Hotel Lulu and head to DCA. No plans, no reservations, just winging it. Going to enjoy the atmosphere entertainment. Only eating from QS (or F&W booths). We will, of course, ride RSR (single rider line) as often as our tired bodies let us.
TUESDAY (DL Park) - Breakfast at Carnation Café at 8:30 am, because we need to start the day with Mickey-shaped waffles. Dinner at Carnation Café at 8:30pm. Hoping to make it out of dinner in time to watch the projection show on the castle, then head back to the hotel, or not. Mostly want to enjoy the streetsmosphere, eat churros, and meet characters.
WEDNESDAY (DL Park) - The Plan is to hang out, a lot, at Galaxy's Edge. We have reservations at Oga's Cantina at 3:30 pm. (My son REALLY wanted to go back here.) We are super exited about Ride of the Resistance because on our last trip to DL (2019), it had not yet opened.
THURSDAY - We are doing a tour of Walt Disney Studios!!!!!!! (Can you tell I'm exited?!) This has been on my bucket list for years and it's now happening courtesy of the D23 gold membership I purchased with all the Disney Movie Insider points I had been accumulating. We already have a rental reservation with Enterprise. Not too worried about driving in LA because we come from Houston, which rivals LA when it comes to traffic. Our tour is at 2:00 pm. Still on the fence about having dinner or an early lunch at Tam O'Shanter's. Any suggestions for how to organize our day in LA/Burbank?
FRIDAY (DCA) - Lunch reservations at Wine Country Trattoria, WOC Dessert Party (first show). Ride RSR as many times as our bodies allow.
I have to admit that I'm bummed that there is no DL Park parade the week we are going, and that Fantasmic! and the DL Park fireworks are only on Friday. My son and I discussed it last night, and decided that unless we can magically find WOC dessert party reservations earlier in the week, we will have to be ok with missing Fantasmic! and the fireworks. I know that this would not be other people's decisions, but WOC dessert party is our priority. After a full day at DCA, I don't want to stand in line, and as a short person, I don't want to fight to be at the very front of the crowd to get any view, and not just the view of someone's back. We also waited too long to make dinner reservations, and my son is really bummed that we will not be able to eat at Blue Bayou. I told him that it's all atmosphere and ok food, but since we are not doing a character meal this trip, this would have been the $$ equivalent for an overpriced meal in our budget.
SATURDAY - Travel day back to reality.
If you have made it this far, thank you for indulging my post. Have a magical day!
