15%-30%; which would it be?

Our family has usually visited WDW in the fall and used a free dining promotion. In 2014 we're arriving May 31. When looking at prior year discounts, it seems this time frame has offered room discounts in the past of anywhere from 15-30%. How does that impact the different resort categories? (we're staying at the YC) I'm really unfamiliar with room discounts- your help is appreciated! :)

Usually YC is at the higher percentage, but it's up to Disney. They are trying to fill rooms and it depends on what type of rooms they are trying to fill. Historically, they discount the deluxe resorts at the higher percentages, probably because the value and moderate rooms are easier to fill.

Having said that, we have RO reservations at WL (courtyard view) at the beginning of February, and the discount was only 25%, while the discount for other rooms at that same resort and at other deluxe resorts is 35%.

We are also staying at YC next week, and I got that room at a 35% discount. However, not all room categories are always offered at the discounted rate. I had been waiting for the RO discount for November to become available all year. When it came out, the only room category offered was the water view at the YC. Luckily, that is the view that we were waiting for.

Typically the YC has been given a 30% discount. I would anticipate the 30% discount in your planning and hope for the best. :)

That is a better discount than they had for the WL last February. We stayed there Feb 5-11, 2013 and the discount was only 20% for standard and woods view. I think courtyard view was only 20%, too.

What type of discount was that? General Public, AP? I'm trying not to be greedy, but hope I can do better if AP or FL Res comes out. Every little bit helps, but if not, I'm still happy.

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it! Now we'll just sit tight and cross our fingers. ;)

It was the general public discount. We don't qualify for any other kind. :)

And it is okay to ask. It makes you sound wise, not greedy. :) Wise people always try to find the best discount they can get. :thumbsup2

Agree with a poster that said the categories can be different.
Example: I got the Pin for 35% off deluxe category in August. I wanted BC standard or preferably garden view. They only had the discount for Lagoon view or club level or higher when I called. BUT, they did have the Garden View available at the YC, so I got that.
