But at the same time I'm trying to reserve judgement. Maybe she was raped? Hell, maybe she was raped by her dad.

There are so many factors of this story that we do not know. That's why I think we should mourn for both children in this story. The baby, of course. But also the 14 year old, she's going to have to live with this for the rest of her life.

Oh, and Prego is a type of pasta sauce. Not an actual word. Yes, that'd be my pet peeve.

Again, I just want to mention that she obviously wasn't in a right state of mind. She wasn't thinking properly. She just wanted to get rid of the thing that was going to ruin her life.

Right now, in my completely sane state of mind, safe and unpregnant, it's easy to say, wow, she's a terrible person, I would never do that.

But who knows how her parents were, maybe they had threatened disowning her or something drastic like that if she ever had a child.
Even if it WASN'T that severe, having a baby in your SCHOOL bathroom would be a terrifying and humiliating experience for anyone.

What she did was wrong, but that doesn't make it any less sad that she might spend the rest of her life in jail for a bad split decision :[

I totally agree.
We may be able to say now, in sane mind, what we would have done.
But you never really know unless you are in her shoes, or in that situation.
And I agree with what everyone else said about mourning both children. The baby, obviously, but also the girl.
And like others have said, we don't know how she got pregnant, so we cannot judge.

And Jenny, prego bothers me too.
