It will be my nephew's 13th birthday on July 28th. He is coming in from CT and five of us will be spending a day at the parks. Can anyone tell me anything special I can do for his birthday. We are not staying at one of the disney parks. What is a good place for dinner for his age? I have seen many posts for birthdays but not many ideas for his age group.

Get him a birthday button at the parks, the cm will give him lots of extra attention. I guess the birthday meal would depend on what he likes. If he is a sports nut then espn club would be a good choice, if he wouldnt mind the characters chef mickeys at the contemporary has lots of action and excitement, whispering canyon at the wilderness lodge has a western theme, are you looking for food or entertainment, ohanas has coconut races and hula hoop plus all you can eat food, if you time it right you can see the fireworks etc. How about Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge? The possibilities are endless. If you want something more adult oriented, maybe a choice from the world showcase at epcot, maybe mexico or the coral reef at the living seas etc. Good luck deciding.

I know you asked for a restaurant selection however, last year for my nephew's 14 birthday I booked the Illuminations cruise with the birthday package and he REALLY enjoyed it. They had balloons on the boat, drinks and a birthday cake with his name on it. The best part is we all sang Happy Birthday to him and it was not just us, it was all the people on the bridge that we were parked under too. Gee, I hope I explained that ok. He was very embarressed but loved every minute if it.
The only problem is they book up fast and I noticed you are doing it this month. Maybe they would have a cancellation or maybe you could do it for the Wishes Cruise. Good Luck with whatever you decide!

If you don't mind me asking...how much was the Illuminations Birthday cruise?

kootz--tell your nephew I said Happy Birthday. My DS11 will be turning 12 on July 28th also.

And where can you get the Birthday Button? at a normal disney shop or somewhere else?

You can get them at Guest Services at any of the theme parks.

my Ds will turn 12 on 8/7 and we are doing Whispering Canyon for dinner. That's the place to go if you want your son embarrassed! It's my son's fave restaurant after Sci-Fi Diner.

We went with my 13 year old nephew in Feb to WDW and with my DS and DBIL. We went to the Prime Time Cafe and he loved it. He loved it because his parents got in some trouble, his mom got put in the corner. He thought it was great fun. Characters were not cool to go see, except for Jasmine who he was blushing the whole time he got to see her. The arcades were a must and also every thrill ride there, several times. He loved Disney Quest infact that's where he and his dad went when we would go shopping or to PI at nighttime.

I remember the cruise costing a total of $250 which included the tip also. A bit pricey but we loved it and what made it all worth it is that my nephew loved it too.

My 13 yo son absolutely LOVED the Morroccan restaurant. The bellydancer came over to him....I wish I could post the picture! :rotfl: I have threatened to blackmail him with it!

I am taking your idea...I have made reservations for dinner at WCC and I am not telling my nephew anything about it except we are having dinner there. I hope it's fun for him...

Make sure you get a birthday button for him from one of the parks so they know it's his birthday. Last year we were there when they brought out a yummy looking cake for an older gentleman's birthday. All the waiters/waitresses sang happy birthday too him and then all of a sudden they pulled out the forks they had hidden behind them and starting eating his cake! Too funny and boy, did he look surprised! Be warned, I read a post where they made the mother of a b-day boy ride around the restaurant on the toy pony and sing happy birthday to him (I'll die!)! My DS just loves the bottomless milkshakes!
