13 Yummy Days of Dining Plan! -UPDATE 1/20 STARRING ROLLS AND ABC COMMISSARY

I love your reviews so far! We are staying at POR for the first time in a few short weeks so I am very excited to see high marks about the food court.

Any chance you tried the pasta bar while you were there?

Is the Mickey Waffle a snack credit?

Hi thanks! Yes I tried the pasta bar, not on this trip but I've had it a lot before. It's amazing! I always have penne pasta with alfredo sauce and chicken. They make it all fresh right in front of you, and you pick what you want. It is so delicious, and it's big enough for two people to share. You also get a yummy breadstick with it too.

No the Mickey Waffle was a quick service credit. Hope you enjoy POR :)

That is pretty much my kids favorite meal so they will be in heaven!

Dinner – Big River Grille

We weren't able to make a reservation here on the WDW site, so that morning we walked to the restaurant to check it out. They had no problem putting our name down for 6PM. Our first impression was that the staff seemed very friendly, more than usual. We had never been here before. I actually didn't even know it existed until my DM expressed how she wanted to dine here! So it was a brand new experience for everyone.

Entrees

I chose the Alfredo Pasta

DM chose the Salmon

P1100599.jpg

DF chose the Steak and Shrimp

P1100598.jpg

Desserts

We all chose the New York Cheesecake

P1100601.jpg

P1100602.jpg

I thought my pasta was very good but a little watery. The cheesecake was better than the Plaza's. It had a nice caramel taste to the biscuit.

DM and DF both enjoyed their meals, but they said that it wasn't anything outstanding.

Although the meal was good, we would not return to the Big River Grille. If we had been paying OOP, the food would not have been worth the money. The table faced a wall, and the seats were high uncomfortable stools. The table was also too small for the three of us, and the server asked if we were ready for dessert when DF was clearly still eating.

Next up... Day 7 at Columbia Harbour House and my old workplace... The Rose and Crown! :cutie:

Looking forward to the rest of your review! We are staying at POR in Nov and your report is making me super excited. Thanks for sharing!

Day 7

Lunch – Columbia Harbour House

I had the Anchors Aweigh Sandwich with Fries and Apple Crisp for dessert. I know everyone on DIS always says it, but the Anchors Aweigh sandwich is SO good. The bread is delicious, everything tastes really fresh. I always choose this when I eat at CHH.

I didn’t think much of the Apple Crisp, I think it was a little too dry, but it was warm and would've been lovely with some ice cream.

DM had the Vegetarian Chilli with Fries and Yogurt for dessert. She enjoyed the yogurt as always, and the Vege Chilli is a hidden gem!

P1100656.jpg

DF wasn’t with us this afternoon. We love this place. It’s our favourite QS in MK. We sat upstairs and looked over the HM. Very quiet, lovely atmosphere.

Dinner – Rose and Crown

This was so weird going back here because it’s where I used to work. I finished last year, and because of how the program works, I didn’t recognise anyone except maybe one or two permanent staff.
It was interesting to see how the menu had changed, and it was also pretty cool that we were sat in the last section I ever served in!

Bread

P1100677.jpg

My Shirley Temple - Sprite and Grenadine. I used to have this all the time when I worked here. I was addicted!

P1100676.jpg

Entrees

I chose the Chicken and Mushroom Pie. I had tried this in the kitchen when the chef was trying out new dishes, so I was so happy to see it actually made it onto the menu!

Inside...

P1100687.jpg

DM had the Vegetarian Shepherd’s Pie

P1100680.jpg

DF had the Steak and Fish (very glad to see this back on the menu!)

P1100683.jpg

I loved the pie. The potatoes inside were a little too hard, but other than that it was great. I would’ve liked it to be fully covered in the pastry, it was only the top that had pastry on it.
DF thought the steak was very good, better than Big River Grille. DM enjoyed the Vegetarian Shepherd’s Pie, but she’s had it before. The vegetarian options are limited here.

Desserts

I chose the Chocolate Scotch Cake

P1100692.jpg

The purple Mickey on the top is actually edible now! It’s chocolate! We used to have to warn guests about those, so it’s nice to see they changed it. The Chocolate Scotch Cake was always my favourite dessert at the R&C, and I'm so glad they kept it on the menu, but I fear that it'll be gone by the next Celebration.

I used to tell all my guests to order it! It's chocolate sponge, a thick scotch chocolate layer on the top, chocolate cream in between the layers, and creme anglaise which is so delicious to dip the sponge into!

DF got the Lemon Pie

P1100690.jpg

Very yummy, my DF loves citrussy things. He really enjoyed it but it was a little small!

DM got the Bakewell Tart

P1100689.jpg

She expected a bigger marzipan flavour, but still very impressed.

Overall I was so happy returning to the Rose and Crown. Our server was really lovely too.

Fab report! Love how you wrote the descriptions and great pictures!!!! About to go and we always have our first meal at rose and crown!!!!!

Day 8

Lunch – Restaurantosaurus

I had the Hotdog and Fries, and Cheesecake for dessert. Apologise if these pics are a little dark.

P1100786.jpg

P1100788.jpg

DM had the Vegetable Burger with Fries, and Cheesecake for dessert

P1100785.jpg

DF had the Double Cheeseburger and Fries, with Cheesecake for dessert

P1100783.jpg

The Vegetable burger was quite dry with not much taste. We didn’t really want to eat here but Flame Tree BBQ was being rehabbed while we were there. I enjoyed the hot dog, but it was nothing special.
I seriously disliked the cheesecake. By this point, I was getting sick of cheesecake anyway. There was an orangey gooey substance all over the cheesecake. I don’t like citrusy things, but my parents LOVED this dessert! If you like fruity things, I’d say try this. It’s very different to any other cheesecake I’ve had.

Dinner – Whispering Canyon Cafe

DF and I both chose the Skillet.

P1100855.jpg

P1100856.jpg

P1100859.jpg

P1100860.jpg

DM was having a bit of trouble here. She didn’t want pasta, but there was no other vegetarian option. When we asked the server, she said that was the only option there was. So my DM had the pasta

P1100858.jpg

She didn’t eat it. Well she tried, but it just wasn’t very nice. I felt really bad because it was my choice to go to WCC. Luckily, the chef happened to be wandering around the restaurant. He stopped at our table when he noticed my DM wasn’t eating. She told him how she was vegetarian, but didn’t enjoy the pasta.
He immediately apologised, took the plate away, and made her something else!

Quinoa Cake

P1100861.jpg

DM was very happy with this. It was so nice of him to stop by and make the effort. The manager then came by to make sure everything was ok.

Dessert

After the skillet, it was hard to imagine eating a dessert too! So we just got Vanilla Ice Cream.

P1100863.jpg

My DM got the Apple Caramel Pie

P1100862.jpg

I don’t have any comments on this for some reason, but I believe it was very good.

Overall I would return to WCC but I wouldn’t take a vegetarian there again. The highlight of the meal is the salad with the Apple Vinaigrette dressing. I love it so much I even made the dressing at home!

I am really enjoying your report and your photos. My DH and I will be trying the Whispering Canyon Cafe for the first time next month so I really appreciate seeing the photos of the skillet.

Day 9

Breakfast – Ghiridellis :lovestruc

I had the Mint Choc Chip on a Waffle Cone (One Scoop)

P1100871.jpg

DM had the Cookies and Cream on a Chocolate Waffle Cone

P1100870.jpg

And DF had the Hot Fudge Sundae

P1100869.jpg

Ghiridellis never fails to be amazing. We were the first people in there that morning. Ice cream for breakfast! It was great as usual. It was raining outside so it was nice to just chill out inside out of the rain for a while.

I just read all of your reviews!! Glad WCC and Rose and Crown got such high marks from you guys-- we're eating there in August and can't wait!

I love all of your reviews! I am especially envious of your Ghiridelli breakfast. Ice cream for breakfast??? I think you might be my hero!:lovestruc
