Here’s the story of 13 cruisers who were setting off on a wonderful western,
Stops in Cozumel, and The Caymans, as well as Castaway Cay
There was a family of 6 people plus their babysitter
As well there was a family of 5 people with their sitter too
All in all there were 7 kids 3 boys and 4 girls,
Lots of work for the sitters who were skipping school
And the Parents too!

Hi-ho Hi-ho it’s off to work we go…. My adventure upon the Magic began on February 23, 2007. On this day I left the quiet peaceful place that I call my apartment to venture across the country to Florida. The time was 6:30 am and the alarm clock was going off… I decided to push snooze who wants to wake up at 6:30 in the morning any ways. ( NOT ME ) At around 7 I decide that I really haven’t fallen back asleep so I might as well get up and go to the airport for my 9:30 flight! The only thing left to do before I leave is make sure I packed everything, which leads to a frantic me trying to remember everything that I remembered from DIS to bring.
1) Passport---- check -- look at me I already had one packed
2) Surge protector for extra outlets- pull it out of the wall check -- This would later become not necessary but I was worried.
3) Cash- ha like I would really spend my own money
4) credit card billed directly to Mommy – check
5) Swimsuits (3) good idea to bring an extra you will see later – throw the one I just bought in
6) Pirate outfit – check
7) Homework – like I will actually do it but it is fun to pretend – check
Okay I think I am ready to go call the cab company they say it will be 15-30 minutes, which to me is really funny since the dispatch place is about a block and a half from my apartment but no worries they always arrive late. Zipping my suitcase grab a bottle of water who knows how long it will take to get to the airport on a Friday morning in Phoenix I don’t. Ahh my cell phone is ringing the cab can’t actually be early they are always late, looks like someone finally has figured out how to get to my apartment complex, it only took five minutes. Walk out the door check to make sure it is locked, bad habit of mine not locking the door.
Apparently on Friday mornings it only takes 15 minutes to get to the airport who would have guessed. Oh well I guess I will just be early. I am not checking luggage going down to Florida, because I am meeting the people I am going with at the airport. Might as well wait for them at their gate it will be more fun for the kiddos that way…. Get through security which took longer than it did to drive to the airport, some people really didn’t understand the rules of flying, yes you must take off your shoes, no you can’t bring big bottles of shampoo in your carry on, seriously where have these people been. And my all time favorite, you have to take your computer out and put it through on its own.
Get to my gate get in line and sit down, yay for southwest. I really don’t mind waiting in line for a good seat though it doesn’t bother me, I fly southwest home a lot so this is no big deal. We start boarding and the pre-board section is double the length of boarding group C, this will take a while, the people about two rows ahead of me on the plane are also going to the “Mickey Boat” as the little girl I baby-sit in Phoenix has affectionately dubbed the Magic. The flight is rough and the fasten seatbelts sign is only off for about fifteen minutes but nothing beets a direct flight, I slept most of the way.
I arrive at MCO and the waiting begins, the kids flight doesn’t land for another two and a half hours, so I go eat and make friends with a couple little kids who are leaving Disney World they are so excited to tell me all about their time at the parks. It was sad when they had to go to their flight because I still had another hour and a half to wait.
Finally the kids get off their plane!! PARTY TIME!!! They are so happy to see me I get tackled out side of gate 126 what could be more fun. Everyone is staring at us but we are happy and can’t wait for our trip to begin. Time to find the driver and go to COCO beach for a night at the Hilton. This night was fun no one slept all four kids and I were in one room we stayed up late, I fell asleep the second oldest girl (Maddie) was still jumping on her bed oh well not my problem.
This was only day one!!!!

:wizard: Hint: Make sure that the curtins are closed when you go to sleep, even if the kids are still awake.
Yes that’s right the youngest David (3) woke up and said that it was morning at 7 am, and that the sun was out. I tried to tell him it wasn’t morning that didn’t go over well, but he closed his eyes for about two more minutes, a few extra seconds of sleep is always good. Oh boy am I excited I am getting on my first cruise ship today I don’t even want to go back to sleep. Lets get all of the kids together and go to the ship now!

That’s not exactly what happened we hung out at the beach and swam in the pool for a few hours before we went to the port at 12 or 12:45. They had none of the paper work filled out when we got there so the kids and I went to get our pictures taken with Goofy by the model ship. The older girls just wanted to know where their friends were, yes we were traveling with more kids oh yay! But, How am I supposed to know where some kids are that I have never met?

We hung out for a while the paperwork was filled out they went to the counter to get our key to the world cards and all sorts of fun stuff like that. The older kids saw their friends and talked to them for a minute before they headed towards the boat, they went to watch tv for a little while I went to take pictures, I wanted pictures of that model boat then I could try to figure out where our room was when I looked at the pictures later.

Time to board the Magic, oh yay I can’t wait this was the start of the scrubbing of the hands. The youngest was not into the fact that he had to wash his hands before getting on the boat but we made it, we get on the boat they read our names now its off for the search to our stateroom. First things first, getting upstairs, make sure that David gets to push the button or there is going to be trouble, cram into the little elevator at mid-ship. Let david push the button for the 8th deck. We get up and are off for a walk, we find our state rooms and decide that we don’t have enough keys. I will need another key to the other state room and keys for the kids to loose. We make sure that the two rooms connect and find a way to keep them open.

The kids are just starving so we head to topsiders for lunch. This was fun, as I am sure you have read there were dolphins at the port which was exciting the kids loved seeing them. Back to the room to call Audrey and Craig, then off to the Bon Voyage party. We had a great place that they could see up on deck ten directly across from the big screen, in the middle there is like a stage for the kids to stand on so that they can see. They want to leave before the horn even blows, I wont let them I want to stay.

Time for the safety drill we get there right at the end it is already time to go back to our stateroom and put away our life vests. (the youngest had refused to wear his life vest anyway). We go back to the room and throw the life vests in the closet it is time to go exploring, the girls and I take off. Somewhere along the way we realize that Charlotte (5) has lost her key card (with charging privlages) so we go searching for it. Running around the boat is great fun when in a search. We are unsuccessful better go tell mom.

Its time for dinner!
:thumbsup2

Keep it coming, dreamerjlee - I come from a large family (all of us w/kids) and I'm curious to hear the nanny perspective as my sibs have been known to bring theirs' along on family ventures such as this (and we're considering it for our next cruise - which won't be for a while since DW is expecting & past the 24 wk mark)...odds are we won't be back aboard before 2008, but I'm curious to hear your tale...

Hey all,
I am at home for spring break when i get a free minute I will update, I am happy people are reading my trip report. =)
More Later Promise
Jamie
