12 Days of Deliciousness...5/29 Mara and Sunshine Seasons

Sunday we went to Animal Kingdom. We didn't get much food there and I don't have any pictures. Sorry. :sad2: Throughout the day we bought a frozen lemonade from Drinkwallah, a hot fudge sundae from Dino Bite Snacks, and a strawberry bar & Sprite from an ice cream cart. Everything was very good.

For dinner, we went to the Maji Pool bar at Kidani. We shared the turkey club and a bag of chips. Later we got the Lava Smoothie (Raspberry puree with pina colada mix) and it was very good as well. The bartender was Matt from Honolulu, Hawaii and he was very friendly.

Monday was our second day at Magic Kingdom. We had ADRs at Liberty Tree Tavern for 11:30am. We got there at about 11:10 and passed the time in the lobby-mom colored a picture they provide. :rotfl:

We were the third or fourth family seated. Our server was Caitlyn from Pennsylvania and she was an excellent server. Mom got a coke and I got a sprite.

GEDC1246.JPG

We started off with the tavern fried cheese. On the left is cheddar bites, the right is mozzarella sticks. We really enjoyed this.
GEDC1247.JPG

For our entree we split the angus chuck cheeseburger with cheddar and bacon, with a side of fruit salad. They even cut it in half and put it on two separate plates. :goodvibes

I had been wanting a burger for a few days and this was excellent. The fruit was sweet and juicy.

For dessert we got the Ooey Gooey toffee cake. Caitlyn and a few other servers brought it out with candles, rang their bell, and sang us their birthday song. This cake was delicious, plus it had the awesome Disney vanilla ice cream. Mom kept saying "Mmmmmmm". I told her that's what I might re-title this dining review: "Mom Says Mmmmmm....Over and Over Again!"

For dinner we had plans to go to Cosmic Ray's. We had split up so I could go ride Space Mountain, and we lost each other. My calls wouldn't go through to mom's phone, and she wasn't dialing our area code, so she couldn't reach me either. It was a nightmare.:headache: So I got food for when we met up, but in my worry and anger I forgot pictures. Anyway, we split the 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken meal, with green beans and mashed potatoes. There was plenty for the two of us. The chicken was flavorful and juicy, the beans were nicely seasoned, and the potatoes were amazing-they had garlic in them. :cloud9:

1/2 Chicken Meal: $9.49
TOTAL COST: $10.11

After we finally found each other (almost an hour later than we should have), I got a sweet cream cheese pretzel, a frozen cherry drink, and a bottle of water from the Lunching Pad. While waiting for SpectroMagic, we also got a frozen lemonade. Yummy!

Yesterday was our second day at DHS. We had ADRs for 11:05am at 50's Prime Time. We arrived around 10:50, as it was just beginning to downpour. We sat on the couch and were seated soon after the restaurant opened. We had a table with a TV.

Our server was Mark from Endor, NY. He was awesome! Definitely the funnest server of the trip. We both ordered water and when he brought them back he said "Vodka tonics!" We were his first table and he introduced us to everyone else who came in other servers and patrons) as "his girls Debbie & Gretchen". At the end he brought out our birthday cupcake and told us to cut it into thirds so he could have a piece. We did and he took the last piece but I don't know whether or not he really ate it. :confused3 When he brought it out he announced to the room that "Gretchen is 53 and Debbie is only 19. Actually folks, Gretchen is only 19 and Debbie's in her 50s." Then he said to me "I thought you were about 23. Guess I should have checked my notes before I gave you that vodka tonic earlier!" :rotfl:

Anyway, onto the food.
We shared the Char Grilled Chicken sandwich, which came with a side of Caesar salad. The sandwich was yummy and huge. The salad was good but there was too much dressing on it. For dessert we shared the brownie sundae which was OMG SO DELICIOUS AND GIGANTIC!!

We returned to the hotel for a break and I came back later to see Fantasmic (mom stayed behind because she wasn't feeling well). I got a box of popcorn and a frozen lemonade shock. The popcorn was a little stale, but buttery, salty, and good. The lemonade shock was a little too sour for my taste.

This morning I went to Boma. Mom was still not feeling well-she's got a mild stomach bug type thing. I took pictures, really I did, but when I went to upload them it told me the card was corrupted. I did the scan thing to fix it, and somewhere in there, the pictures disappeared. :headache: Anyway, I'll be honest, the food was pretty good, but it didn't blow me away. I arrived about 15 minutes early for my 9:50am ADR and only waited about 3 minutes to be seated. My server was Edna, and while she was friendly, she seemed rushed and distracted. I waited a bit longer than I should have for her to come after I was seated. It also took her nearly 15 minutes after I was done eating for her to bring the check. Then I had to wait for her to process it. Finally, this was the only restaurant that did not acknowledge the birthday celebrations that I saw were noted on the slip they place at the table for the server.

The jungle juice was very good.
My first trip consisted of:
-Fruit Loops
-Cinnamon Bun
-Banana Macadamia Muffin
-Strawberries & Watermelon

The fruit loops were good and so was the watermelon. The strawberries were juicy but not very sweet. The cinnamon bun was just okay. They're better at my school, I think. The muffin was tasty but seemed dry.

My second trip included:
-Goat Cheese and Chive scrambled eggs
-Bacon
-Sausage
-Brioche French Toast

The bacon was good. The sausage was a bit too spicy. The toast was very good-I liked the raisins. The eggs were the best thing I ate this morning. They were perfectly done and the chives added a lot of flavor.

My third trip was:
-Grapes, Cantaloupe, & Watermelon
-Chocolate Croissant
-Regular Croissant
-Blueberry Muffin

The grapes were mushy, but the cantaloupe was good. I didn't care for the chocolate croissant. The muffin was good, but the sugar crystals on top were a bit too much. The regular croissant was perfect: light and fluffy.

Great reviews. Sorry your mom is still not feeling well. Love your PrimeTime review; sorry you weren't "thrilled" with Boma (we went last year for the first time and it was out of this world and we've decided to go back in September).

Thanks for the reviews! I hope we also get a funny server at 50's PT.

Reviews and pics are great !! Mmmmmmm...fried cheese !!!!!!!!!
Sorry you weren't blown away by Boma, that is our absolute favorite breakfast on property.
Love your 50's Prime Time pics and review. Can't wait for more reviews.:thumbsup2

For dinner on Wednesday we went to Mara as Mom was feeling better. We shared the cheese flatbread, a watermelon cup, and a slice of cheesecake.

The flatbread was very good, hot and fresh. It was definitely big enough for the two of us. The watermelon was fresh, juicy, ad sweet. The cheesecake was perfect and it was also very large.

Flatbread: $6.99
Fruit: $3.19
Cheesecake: $3.59
TOTAL COST: $14.68

On Thursday we ate lunch and dinner at Sunshine Seasons. For lunch we shared the Turkey & Monterey Jack sandwich with a side of potato salad and strawberry shortcake.

GEDC1497.JPG

The sandwich was very good, but seemed a little smaller than I remembered. I thought the potato salad was just okay, but mom said she really enjoyed it; it reminded her of classic German potato salad. The strawberry shortcake was amazing: perfectly smooth, light, and fluffy, with large chunks of strawberry throughout.

Sandwich with side: $8.59
Shortcake: $3.99
Total Cost: $13.40

For dinner we got the 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken meal with mashed potaotes and glazed carrots. We also got a fruit tulip and a key lime tart for dessert.

GEDC1503.JPG

This was soooo good. :cloud9: The mashed potatoes were delicious, fresh and garlicky and just awesome. The carrots had just a hint of sweetness. The chicken was mostly moist, with just a few spots being dry.

Now the desserts were just okay. The fruit tulip was very bland. I expected the custard to be sweet, but it really had no flavor. The strawberries were okay. Mom ate the peaches and kiwi and said they were bland as well. The key lime tart was not what I was expecting. I'm used to the Red Lobster Key Lime pie, which is almost like cheesecake. This was like a mousse and what I thought was meringue on top was almost like a heavy cream. It wasn't meringue and it wasn't whipped cream, and we're still not entirely sure what it was. It was good, just not what I was expecting.

Chicken Meal: $9.99
Regular Soda: $2.39
Fruit Tulip: $3.99
Key Lime Tart: $3.79
Total Cost: $21.48

Service: 4.5/5
Quality: 4/5
Quantity: 4.5/5
Value: 4/5

Crystal Palace was great! We decided that although we'd visit all the restaurants in future trips (except possibly Boma) Crystal Palace is the only one we want to definitely do on the *next* trip. We have such a list of other places to try!
